What's Better For Your Business...Search Engine Optimization Or Pay-Per-Click Sponsored Search

By Tyler Houts

LEARN THE DIFFERENCES AND ACHIEVE HUGE RESULTS

Having a company website is a must to stay in competition and keep customers informed about your business. However, once your website is built, your internet marketing now begins! Obviously, people have got to know that you've got a website for it to be successful. What good is a website if no one is going to it? An overwhelming number of customers find and buy from websites they have found through a search engine. If your business is not listed within the first three pages, you're missing out on thousands of visitors. Getting your business listed within the first few pages of search engines is a surefire way to ensure thousands more visitors to your site each month! There are 2 main methods of search marketing - learn which approach will benefit more quickly.

Search Engine Optimization (Natural Search Results)

Future clients search the internet by entering keywords into a search engine. In order for your website to appear in the natural results pages, your site must contain those keywords or phrases. Certain style changes like placing keywords in bold, italics, or bulleted and numbered lists can optimize your site for search engines. Changes can also be made in the actual HTML
coding of your website, such as the title tags and meta tags, to better your chances of being found through natural search. Search engine optimization takes time, but is the most effective way to draw traffic to your website.

Sponsored Search (Pay-per-click)

There are two different types of sponsored search options. Sponsored search based on a keyword search allows companies to have links to their websites on results pages for a small fee. Sponsored Search based on content context is a different concept. Search engines have partner websites. On these partner websites, content specific advertisements can be placed. For example, a partner website may be a site about architecture. Perhaps a tool company may place advertisements on this website. Though not quite as effective as Search engine optimization, sponsored search gets results quickly.

Search engine marketing is a necessity for companies with a website. You must ensure that your site is being visited for it to be successful. Many companies will spend hundreds or thousands of dollars for a flashy website and forget about marketing it! This is extremely ineffective. Get your website found with search engine marketing!

By Jonathan Lee

Who Else Wants To Make Money With Google Adsense? Would you like to find out what those-in-the-know have to say about Adsense? The information in the article below comes straight from well-informed experts with special knowledge about making money with Adsense.

Fact number 1: Kids in high school are making thousands of dollars every month with Adsense.

Fact number 2: Housewives, retirees, mom and dads, who are just staying at home and have never made a dime on the internet have created full-time incomes by simply placing Adsense ads on their web site or blog.

These are just some of the "super Adsense earners". You may have already heard about their story for they are among the few who are on their way to making millions worth of cash just by promoting Adsense sites.

Anyone, any age and gender can become money generating Adsense publishers as long as they what it takes. How does one go about this Internet advertising?

Writing articles for Adsense is the way to do it. Using the right keywords in your articles and having Google ads on a certain site has become the most profitable way of marketing that anybody can get into. No experience and level of education needed. If you are not using this strategy, or may not be aware of it in the first place, chances are you may be losing thousands of dollars worth of extra income and still do not know it yet.

Those of you not familiar with the latest on making money with Adsense now have at least a basic understanding. But there's more to come.

This is one of the many reasons why writing original quality content articles is now the latest in marketing buzz. Content and links. When combined together becomes a really powerful tool to a successful web site and richer individuals. Many internet marketing professionals are already aware of the value of an original quality content and how using keywords can drive targeted traffic into their sites from the search engines.

So why don't all these web site owners write and submit their own articles if that is what is important?

The simple and understandable answer is that it takes time to write articles, submit them and get targeted traffic to their websites. That is why they get the services of those who can spares sometime to write the articles that would cater to their site purpose but still turn out as a good quality and unique piece of work.

To get into the Adsense marketing business and start earning some good cash, ask yourself. Did you enjoy writing when you were in school? If you answer yes to this question, you already have an initial advantage over most internet marketing business owners that wants to make money
online and doing it at home.

With the boom in the Adsense market comes the need for sites to want fresh, quality and original keyword rich content. This way, web site owners can have a steady supply of articles with the proper keywords that they relate to their site contents. The result of this is seen in the sites page rank when indexed by the search engines. Which, in turn, gets moreAdsense ads to show above, below or next to the article on their website with targeted traffic.

What do people have to do?

Write quality and original content, keyword or phrase rich articles with links to your website in the resource box. Then build a website or web page with targeted keyword or phrase rich original content for the targeted traffic that originates from the articles you wrote. Finally, you will have a Google Adsense ads that are targeted to your keyword or phrase rich original content site where visitors will get to visit when they come looking for information.

A win-win situation if you think more about it. A favor for persons looking for quality content and information. For the persons writing the original content articles. And the person with the quality original content rich website. Of course, the search engines and its advertisers are getting targeted traffic and sales but so what? As long as you are getting something in your favor, it does not really matter what the others are getting for themselves.

So who else wants to start earning money with Adsense. You. Everyone. Anybody. Internet marketing has many opportunities wide open for this people. Writing articles and using Adsense for your kind of internet marketing strategy is one sure way of getting a piece of that action and cash.

Better not be left behind the many making millions already.

I hope that reading the above information was both enjoyable and educational for you. Your learning process should be ongoing--the more you understand about any subject, the more you will be able to share with others.

Adwords Killer Review - My Adwords Killer Case Study

By John Stason

Adwords Killer is another very popular Adwords guide that hit the market recently. This is my unbiased and critical Adwords Killer Review that will tell you exactly what you will find inside - and what you won't.

Unless you have been living under a rock you know that there are dozes of Adwords Guides out there. All of them promise you that you can make a fortune. What I don't like is that you keep reading the same stuff over and over - sometimes basics that you could get for free on the tutorial pages of Google Adwords.

Other Adwords books that I had previously bought include Google Cash, Adwords Miracle, Affiliate Project X, Day job killer, Adwordelite and The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords by Perry Marshall. If you add up the price for all of them you know I spent a lot of money.

So my million dollar question really is: Does Adwords Killer offer any new tricks or strategies that you haven't seen yet in any other guides or is it just the usual stuff (Split-testing ads, Tight ad-grouping etc.)?

Adwords Killer has 81 pages and it does cover some of the basics, but the major part of the guide consists of new and innovative tactics that cannot be found in other books. Maybe that's because the other authors preferred to keep those tricks for themselves - maybe it is because they were not aware of them. I don't know.

So what does Adwords Killer cover what other Adwords Guides don't?

Negative Keywords

This is one of the highlights of the book. Everybody tells you to include the negative keyword -free in your ads. Adwords Killer goes far beyond that. The author gives you a comprehensive list of 47 negative keywords that have statistically proven to make campaigns unprofitable. Most of
them I had never considered. But once you think about it - it seems so obvious. He also tells you exactly when and how to use negative keywords and how to avoid a common mistake many people make when using negative keyword phrases consisting of more than one word.

Campaign Tuning

Campaign Tuning means you constantly improve your campaigns to make them better and more profitable over time. This is something that others don't mention at all - although the very
popular Adwords Miracle does tell you a little about campaign tuning but not enough.

Adwords Killer tells you how to use advanced keyword tracking using log files - which only applies if you have your own landing page - and how to know if a campaign has reached its maximum profit potential. This is something that really made me totally turn around some of my campaigns. One of my campaigns that was losing money before now makes $25 each and every day.

CPC Kill Technique for Campaign Defense

Recently certain Adwords products have started to show you how to nuke or steal other people's campaigns. Adwords Killer is the first guide to show you how to protect an evil advertiser from stealing your keywords and attacking your campaign. This will become more and more important since too many advertisers out there just try to spot a profitable niche and then just copy your ad. The CPC Kill Technique tells you exactly how to keep other advertisers out of a niche that you have occupied and that you want to keep it for yourself.

Site Targeting Secrets

This was completely new for me. I must admit that I had always switched off the content network, like most of the other gurus said and focused only on keyword targeting. This section alone for me was worth the price of Adwords Killer many times over since it tells you exactly how to use the site targeting feature to make a $10 per day campaign into a $50 per day campaign. The good thing: As with site targeting there is almost no competition out there yet, so up to this point this is easy money.

Bidding Secrets and Position Preference

Adwords Killer shows you a method to outbid any competitor only spending the minimum amount of cash. More important it shows you how to use the position preference feature from Adwords (rarely used by anyone) to maximize your conversions. Yes, I knew that it was no good to be in the number one position for a keyword, because you get too many people who click out of curiosity but don't buy. What surprised me was the exact position your ad should be in to get fewer clicks but much higher conversions.

I would recommend Adwords Killer if you are already a little familiar with Google Adwords and are looking for more powerful tactics to boost your profits or if you currently have some Adwords campaigns running that are unprofitable. If you are a total newbie, don't buy this book - if you are already familiar with Adwords - Adwords Killer will turn you into an experienced
Adwords advertiser that 99% of other advertisers cannot compete with. Even if you are very experienced like I am Adwords Killer will have some tricks that you didn't know. Applying only one of them can pay the price of the book many times over.

The use of these advanced tactics is what can separate a winning campaign from a losing one and an affiliate marketer who makes some money from an Adwords Pro who makes a killing.

Honestly I would not want to compete in a niche with another advertiser who uses the tricks laid out in Adwords Killer. Get it here: http://www.adwordkiller.com

Try Using Long Tail Keywords For Your Website Marketing Campaign

By Tom Niehoff

Like many website marketers, I use long tail keywords in many popular pay per click programs to drive targeted traffic to my websites. For those new to long tail keywords, a `long tail' is simply a keyword phrase that is very specific, and longer than your average keyword.

Let's say you have a website about credit repair. Here are a couple example keywords for that:

Credit repair
Credit repair online
Credit repair program
How do I repair my bad credit
How do I repair my bad credit score
Help with repairing my credit score

The first three keyword sets would probably be considered normal keywords, and the last three would be considered long tail keywords. Long tail keywords have several advantages, and some disadvantages:

Advantages:

- Highly targeted traffic. If the user searched for that particular phrase, they are ready to buy, and know what they want.

-A LOT cheaper bid prices. Not much competition on that keyword from other PPC users.

Disadvantages:

- Less traffic coming from those keywords.

- You have to come up with quite a few of these long tails to get much traffic on them.

Considering that you have a chance to drive highly targeted traffic to your website, while save a lot of money on your pay per click program, I would highly suggest getting started on long tail keywords.

The best tool I have found to start your long tail keyword list is Google Adword's Keyword Tool. Simply log into your Google Adsense account and click on Tools. This tool takes a given keyword, and gives you results that often contain many valuable long tail keywords. The results can show you how much search volume there is for that given keyword, and what the average cost per click will run.

Of course, you can also export this list, and use the same keywords in other pay per click campaigns.

Pay Per Click Advertising Does Help Bring Traffic To Your Site

By David Fishman

Why use Pay Per Click advertising? Using Pay Per Click advertising you can measure and statistically calculate ROI in a market within a few days for hardly any money. The popularity of pay per click advertising has generated plenty of interest from online and offline businesses.

Both pay-per-click and SEO are targeted to get your website placed as close to the top of search engine results as possible. In the pay-per-click world, your business depends on first impressions. Webmasters with open wallets have found that pay-per-click can provide traffic within hours or even minutes of a website's launch. When looking to advertise online one of the best advertising for your money is pay per click, since you only pay when some clicks, and if a potential customer clicks they are interested in your product.

PPC ads are found on websites, search engines and advertising networks these ads show up as text ads and appear on the sites, these ads will adjust themselves to what ever the theme is of each page. Of course, there's really a lot more to a successful PPC campaign, but that's it in a nutshell. The benefits of PPC are numerous.

Since there are so many companies on the World Wide Web you need to make your site and product stand out above all others. One marketing technique is to be listed in search engines -but again, with thousands of companies offering the same products and services as you, how can your scream for attention be heard.

Now, there any more cost effective marketing method. 1: Using Pay Per Click Advertising is a very inexpensive way of advertising. One thing that matters the most is how many visitors or should we say targeted visitors you can get to your site, the more qualified they are the more sales you will make. The biggest stumbling block for most home business owners is marketing their business.

When advertise on search engines you purchase clicks, you pay for only clicks you receive. When you look at search engine results and rankings don't believe all these results are from free traffic, many gurus use paid advertising to get the results they want and to get to the front page of the search engines. Businesses buy advertising on specific search phrases, and are then charged each time a person clicks through to their web site. Using the pay per click advertising you can get your site up to the top 10 in no time.

Pay per click advertising companies provide targeted traffic to your website, meaning everybody who comes to your website are looking for your products or services. Its very easy to place a pay per click ad, find the keywords your want to use, write the ad header and the body, put your link in and choose the amount of money you want to spend.

In order to get the most from PPC campaign, you have to know what keywords are going to work best for your field and what keywords are going to generate the most traffic. Choosing to bid on the right keywords can be the key to your pay per click success. Choosing the wrong keywords will negate even the most well planned Pay Per Click.

What Is Pay-Per-Click? When To Use It - And When Not To

By Robert Fuess

The only way to really guarantee top placement is to use pay-per-click advertising. (This is an advertising mechanism in which you pay for every click of a potential customer.) Most search engines offer this on a bidding basis, and if it generates more money than you spend on it, it can be sound business advise. In most cases, you would DO THIS LAST - after you optimize your web site and implement other promotional techniques. If you do an effective job with your website optimization and promotion, you may already come up top naturally and not have to use pay-per-click for several keywords. (This is expecially true for MSN or Yahoo.) Or if you choose to make a big (temporary) advertising campaign while you are optimizing (and have the money for this), then you may consider this.

Some keywords will cost more than others, depending on competition. Some will generate more paying customers than others. Do the math as you go along. Figure out the return on investment. This is seldom a one shot deal and often takes a few months of tweaking to get the optimum pay-per-click bid amount for the different keywords.

YOU WILL FIND SEO COMPANIES THAT GUARANTEE YOU TOP PLACEMENT FOR YOUR FAVORITE KEYWORDS. THIS IS HOW THEY DO IT. They use pay-per-click as part of the package and point to the pay-per-click listing, showing you your top placement. The natural links are normally much cheaper in the long run, since once you achieved a top ranking without pay-per-click you will have a steady stream of customers without having this kind of per-click fee.

Google is, of course, an exception. For the first year you will not likely rank for most of your desired keywords despite any valiant efforts on your part. During this period, I would encourage using Google's pay-per-click (AdWords). Although Google is the slowest to recognize your natural ranking - it will give the greatest return in the long run. While you do this - use the information they give you while you manage your pay-per-click keywords. See what is used most often - and what gives you the most sales (conversions). They have tools to help you with that.

ANY SEO FIRM that promises or guarantees top placement for competitive keywords is either selling you pay-per-click or is being boastful. Be wary with your money. You don't need an SEO
expert to sign up for pay-per-click. You may use one to help you find the right keywords or perhaps to handle optimization techniques. If they are selling you a package, pay-per-click is
often a justifiable part of it. However, don't let such a promise be a decision factor in selecting an SEO expert.

The State of Search Engine Advertising: Reality and Alternatives

By Mel Strocen

The herd mentality never fails to amaze me. When the pay-per-click concept was first pioneered in 1997-98 by GoTo.com (now Yahoo! Search Marketing), it was years before the model was widely accepted. GoTo virtually created the market for pay-for-performance search single-handedly and redefined how businesses market online while other search engines sat on their collective hands. Then, when it was obvious that there was "Gold in Them Thar (PPC)Hills" hundreds of search engines entered the PPC arena and hordes of advertisers followed suit.

As a search engine advertising model, pay-per-click was, and is, brilliant in its simplicity. In theory, it is a perfect way to bill advertisers based on consumer interest in their advertisements. Unfortunately, in real life money can bring out the worst in human, and business, nature. In today's search engine reality, pay-per-click should be on its last legs. But, as anyone with a knowledge of the search engine industry knows that simply isn't the case.

Let's first examine the main reasons why advertisers should be abandoning PPC in droves:

1. Cost

According to the Fathom Online Keyword Price Index(http://www.fathomonline.com/120506.html), the average keyword price paid by online advertisers reversed a downward trend and increased 16.5% percent to $1.48 in the third quarter of 2006, up from a $1.43 per click at the end of 2005.

That's one report. Another compiled by Click Forensics
(http://www.eadp.org/index.php?q=node/14525) concluded that the average pay-per-click search-term cost was $4.51 across retail, financial services, health and fitness, technology and entertainment advertising. Whatever the average cost, it's too high for most small to medium-sized businesses.

More stats and information on PPC trends (conflicting or otherwise) can be found at the links below:

Advertisers Cutting Google AdWords Spending With Surge of Keyword Prices (http://searchengineland.com/070108-154101.php)

2. Click Fraud

You gotta love stats. In researching this article, click fraud was cited as running anywhere from a low of 2.0% to a high of 35% - a range guaranteed to put a smile on the faces of government flunkies that like to boggle the public with reams of out-of-context figures. Since stats can be massaged to support just about any argument, I won't bore you with a list of supporting links.

If you're interested, just do a search on "Click Fraud percentages" or "35% Click Fraud" and review at your leisure.

3. No Accountability

PPC engines bill without providing any backup as to the origin of the clicks received. It's the "trust us" philosophy of business. Hey, if you're not savvy enough to look for, or find, fraud, then obviously there wasn't any. Why would you think otherwise?

Not all advertisers, however, are content to accept the "trustus" approach to customer relations. Expect more suits like last year's class action suit against Google.

Google Agrees To $90 Million Settlement In Class Action Lawsuit Over Click Fraud
(http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/060308-152034)

Click Fraud Concerns Hound Google
(http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory?id=1934655)

Of the three reasons noted above, the first and third are known to any PPC advertiser and the second is widely ignored. Why? Because many advertisers would prefer to believe that the big PPC players are doing their best to monitor and control the click fraud problem. And, of course, they believe this because companies that make billions of dollars from PPC ads have no vested interest in padding their bottom line and making their investors happy. Also, there's the fact that the Internet is immune to scams and rip-offs. Plus, as we all know, history has shown that industries and companies that police themselves are above reproach.

Is this the world we live in? Remember Enron and WorldCom? In the real world, the equation reads as follows:

Money + No Accountability = You Ripped Off

But to be fair, not all advertisers turn a blind eye to the threat of click-fraud. The sad fact is that most are either unaware there is a problem or are ignorant of the extent of the problem. These advertisers simply do not have the technical know how to investigate click fraud as it applies to them or to determine how it affects them - by which I mean how much money they are losing.

Generally, this group is impressed with numbers. If they receive hundreds of clicks per day on a PPC ad, they are in click heaven. The same group is especially enamoured with all things Google. All other advertising models are measured against Google's AdWords and AdSense programs and found wanting. The problem is that only God and Google really know where their clicks and impressions come from, but why worry since both subscribe to "Do No Evil".

So, how bad is click fraud? Worse than you think and worse than has been reported and, if you've missed what has been reported, the links below provide an overview:

By Jim Hedger, Tuesday, April 04, 2006
http://news.stepforth.com/blog/2006/04/yahoo-used-in-spyware-click-fraud.php

Still not convinced? then, listen to the following interview with the CEO of AIT Inc. Clarence Briggs who was one of the lead plaintiffs in last year's Google class action suit:

http://www.webmasterradio.fm/breakingstory.php

These stories should serve as a wake up call to any thinking person that a large number of clicks don't necessarily equate to sales or money well spent. And, if you think click fraud is just part of the cost of doing business, then there are thousands of scam artists out there who are ready to be your best friend.

Can the PCC industry be saved? Not without accountability from the major players. In any other industry if you paid for something - say 100 widgets - you would expect to get 100 widgets. If you received 60 widgets, you would want to know what happened to the other 40. And, if the supplier said, "trust me, I sent a 100", you would demand proof.

Even when there are external and independent monitoring agencies working on behalf of consumers and investors, fraud occurs, as in the case of WorldCom and Enron. When an industry polices itself - well, you figure it out.

So, if pay-per-click is a poor choice for your advertising dollars because of rising costs, fraud and lack of industry accountability, what are the alternatives?

1. Organic SEO (Search Engine Optimization): The blanket term used to describe the unpaid, algorithm-driven search results of a search engine, and the methodologies used to achieve such website rankings. (Source: http://www.mediumblue.com/newsletters/organic-seo.html)

Entails a learning curve to become knowlegeable in accepted SEO techniques but worth the time and effort given that it's generally accepted that around 80%-90% of all traffic to websites originates from search engines. If time is money to you, hire a reputable SEO consultant. Use the savings from the money you would have spent on a PPC campaign.

2. Paid Inclusion: Refers to the payment of a one-time fee for placement of a website listing within a search engine's paid or organic search results. Not as popular an advertising model as it once was (read not as much money in it for search engines) but could be poised to make a comeback.

This model used to be the main revenue generator for a number of search engines with Inktomi being the best known proponent. Advertisers would pay an annual fee to appear in Inktomi's search results as well as the results of other engines powered by Inktomi. The hook was frequent crawling (every 48 hours) which allowed webmasters to see the results of their SEO efforts quickly.

Paid inclusion hasn't died, but it has morphed with variations still being offered by Yahoo! and other engines. Probably, the most interesting variation was launched about 18 months ago by ExactSeek.com and the ISEDN (Independent Search Engine & Directory Network). In a nutshell, the ISEDN offers a hybrid advertising model which offers rotating top 10 site listing exposure across a growing network of smaller search engines as well as web, blog and article directories (currently, there are 260 ISEDN members) for flat fee rates. Pricing is based on time rather than keyword bidding. Buying a single ad listing for 3 months costs $12 and $36 for 12 months. The model is simple and affordable, offering all of the advantages of the PPC model without any of the drawbacks. More details at:

http://www.exactseek.com/featured_listings.html

3. Cost Per Action: From an advertiser's perspective, this could be the ideal advertising model since the advertiser would only pay for an ad when a specific action had occurred such as a sale or a registration. Back in June of 2006, there were several reports that Google was testing a version of its AdWords product using the CPA model.
Not much has been heard since. The CPA model is widely used in the affiliate and lead generation industries, but don't hold your breath waiting for wholesale adoption by the search engines.

4. Pay-Per-Percentage: Put forward by Microsoft as a solution to both click and impression fraud. Below is a quote from a Microsoft research paper:

"In this system, an advertiser picks a keyword, e.g. "cameras" and purchases, perhaps through bidding, a certain percentage of all impressions for that keyword. For instance, an advertiser might pay $1.00 to MSN Search. In return, the advertiser might receive 10% of all impressions for "camera" for 1 week. What does this mean? It means that for 1 week, one out of ten times that someone searches for the word "camera", they will see the ad."

You can read the full abstract for an in-depth explanation.

The Microsoft PPP advertising model was proposed, perhaps not coincidentally, around the same time Google was testing the CPA model. Again, not much has been heard since then.

Will any of the above alternatives dethrone PPC? Time will tell. Which brings us back full circle to the herd mentality. If and when the advertiser herd twigs to the fact that PPC is a hype driven industry with very little substance and begins to move to a new advertising model, expect PPC engines to shift advertising gears faster than you can say "Who wants to stay a billionaire".

How To Earn $65 Per Lead And $8 Per Adsense Click With A Simple Site Or Blog In The Multi Billion Dollar Credit Card Niche

By Tuks Engineer

There are some niche markets that you really have to participate in as a content publisher because of their pure potential for digital profits. I've been going on about markets such as investment, real estate and travel for a while because all of them have cash-rich prospects and offer multiple opportunities to earn from a mix of big-ticket affiliate programs, information products, Adsense & more.

I've been wanting to introduce this niche to you for awhile. Why? Because yes it returns over 8 million searches online every month, Adsense per click values get close to double figures and there are a mass of big-name affiliate programs to promote. But there's something even bigger.

The reason I believe it just HAS to form part of your product portfolio is the shocking pay per lead programs offered by certain big name companies which affords you the possibility of earning a whopping $65 per lead just for the prospect filling out an approved form. As pay per leads go, this is the holy grail and I'll tell you exactly where to find this affiliate program in the download area.

Why The Credit Card Niche Is A Dream Come True For Content Publishers Around The World

It's estimated that the credit card business is worth $50 billion in the United States alone, and the total amount of credit card debt in America is over $800 billion. Those are staggering facts, and from the point of view of a content publisher you ought to be licking your lips in delight because we've already seen that over 8 million people a month search for "credit card" online. When there's that type of volume in terms of both prospects and pure cash changing hands, you can bet there's money to be made - and thanks to the internet even "Joe Blog" can get involved in a big way by owning a simple site or blog with targeted content & the right affiliated programs.

More facts? There are over 1.2 billion credit cards in circulation in the U.S. and almost 80% of individuals are deemed credit-worthy.

The thing is, credit card companies know that with the average U.S. household racking up an eye-popping $7,000 in credit card debt, the more sign-ups they get for their credit cards...the
more money they make. It's a pure numbers game and each and every sign up means big money for them - not just as a one off but for years into the future.

You see, that's exactly why they'll throw around a lot of money to get these customers (and lots of it). That's why there's pay per click & pay per lead potential here that almost defies belief (and frankly it makes the internet marketing payouts seem like a sad joke). Let's review the potential briefly:

Pay Per Click Potential

Credit card companies are known to bid around the $4 to $8 per click mark on Adwords and even more on certain keywords. As a result, a simple content based credit card site/blog can make out like a bandit with Adsense & other contextual programs.

Pay Per Lead Potential

There are over one billion credit cards in circulation within the U.S. alone and credit card companies are thought to have scooped up a cool $50 billion in revenues from late fees and charges alone. It's a pure numbers game for these companies.they know the more sign-ups they get, the more profits they'll see. It's a little like internet marketers and their mailing lists. The difference is that these multi-million dollar credit card companies will pay BIG to generate leads. To you and I, even $1 to generate a lead seems excessive, but to a major credit card company even $50 can be cost effective because the lifetime value of that lead can be thousands of dollars.

The potential with pay per lead and Adsense is strong to say the least.

Several bids on contextual (Adsense) advertising are at the $5, $8 even $10 mark while the credit card niche is possibly the strongest I've ever seen for pay per lead income. One major
credit card company I've found pays a whopping $65 per application they receive from your referrals. The customer doesn't have to buy anything so you can expect a far better conversion ratio than if you were trying to sell an affiliate program - yet the reward is higher than you'll see as an affiliate from the majority of products out there. And we're just at the starting point. my belief is that pay per lead will be a successful model for credit card companies to sign-up new cardholders in a way that can be traced. Surely, others will follow suit. To me, that's really incredible and the PPL possibilities alone warrant a presence in this market.

So Now You Understand The Potential, How Can You Set-Up A Simple Content Website That Can Start Delivering Earnings Right Off The Bat?

Set up a content blog or website with information that's going to interest your prospects. Cover topics like:

- How credit cards work

- How to spot a good credit card deal

- Different features of the many credit cards on display

- Credit cards to suit different types of customer (eg student
cards, reward cards etc)

- Balance transfers

You get the jist. The best way to structure your site is to have each specific article on one page with 3 Adsense link units and of course the link to your pay per lead program so when your prospects do apply (and if they are targeted, many will) you'll get $65 per application.

If you want to profit from niche marketing, you need to be in the right markets. It's well worth your time setting up a presence in this niche - the rewards speak for themselves.

How Google Makes Big Money And How You Can Too!

By Andrei Petunin

We all know that Google makes a lot of money, but not everyone knows how they do it, so I have created a web site about Google Adsense and have produced this article with the purpose to help people to understand their system more.

Google is a search engine, and that comes from common knowledge now a days. An extremely successfully search engine, which received so much daily traffic that one often wonders how many servers it maintains, to handle it all! They have thousands of employees around the world and probably make billions in revenues. How do they do it? Well, the answer is, of course, from advertising. They advertise, and advertise heavily. The two systems they have created are Adwords and Adsense. I won't go into too much detail, since anyone can find out more on this
on their website, but in a couple of sentences.. essentially, Adwords is a system that advertisers use place their ads via it, while Adsense is the outcome of those ad placements i.e. those are actual ads themselves.

Google places the ads in 2 places - on search engines, both it's own or those which they own and are affiliated, and on mine and your sites. They have a huge network (the whole web) of websites and split their profits from those ads with the web owners therefore creating a win-win situation and encouraging more and more web owners to place their advertisements. It is the biggest ad community on earth to date (not betting my wife on this, but pretty sure), and, judging by their rapid growth, it will be even larger weeks or months from today. The pay per click rate varies somewhere from .01 pence to a lot more of around 70 US Dollars. This depends on the quality of the web content you have at your site and how much advertisers are willing to pay for their visitors, probably in conjunction with some other less important factors. Google does not inform us how much they pay the web masters, although there have being predictions from the web masters that the figure is most likely to be somewhere around 50%.

The aim behind it is to make a site with as many visitors as we can and have as high rate of clicks as possible. Of course this, opportunity attracts many of people though who try their luck
with Adsense, and the good news is that the vast majority of those fortune-hunters fail, for many different reasons, one of which being mainly because those types of do not plug in for long enough, make spammy and worthless throw-away type of sites and it all just is too much work for them. Good news for those who do make it, as it means those have fewer people to compete
against.

So, what needs to be done by an individual in order to make money with Adsense? Well, a start up capital to outsource, some SEO knowledge as well as some determination will be welcome, but crucial factors are determination and good quality Google is not stupid and in the future only unique, quality content, which is of true value to the visitor will attract the search engines. This means that you can start creating a site and add original content two times a day or more, and that will, sooner or later, pay off and you will start ranking in the SE's. Choose a niched topic, create more long tail keyword-aimed headlines, write the article, and you will be heading towards a very bright future, and , at that point, will probably be better off than about 98% of them that try.

Designing a niched website is easier to rank for, because you can optimise your linking strategy for this subject, therefore is going to get higher PR reputation with less effort. Search engines are going to start recognising you as an expert in this field, hence you will gain more traffic. This is in contradiction to if you make a wide area website, where you will need to try harder to get the same level of PR, , since you have more subjects and likely more web pages, as well as having to create more web links, as well as more permutations of these web links to more pages all this is just not as easy. To contradict to that though, once you are ranking, you will likely receive more visitors. It all really depends on how hard you are going to work on it, and the chances are not too hard (you do not want to reach success and then drop dead). Or depends on your ability to outsource (get them people from around the planet working on your site, and ghost-writers working on your content for you).

One of the other to consider is letting your web site readers to ad content themselves for you! Be it with the possibility to be approved by either you or your web master or to make a free post without web masters check this strategy, if applied right, is the best in terms of the work load off your chest. This is going to take a lot of work from you, as your visitors will be doing it, while you are on a nice, sunny beach in Caribbean island might just work! In my personal view, that would be a true success. (E.g. for many that have already taken off no web masters involvement required, apart from little off-page optimisation work and monitoring to keep the spot in the SE's, and that can be outsourced. Content-adding is very natural for them). Of course, enabling comments is doing just that, but those are, likely, only couple of lines, and definitely not as affective as having full paragraphs.

Do you know that , according to recent statistics (end of 2006), something like seventy percent of the worlds wealth is in the hands of two percent of the worlds population? Well, the net is one of the Greatest chances in our history to be in this two percent. Oh, by the way, almost forgot the reason why I wrote this article. Below is a link to my site on the subject of how to make money with Google Adsense. I am adding articles to it regularly, writing about everything I know and learn about Google Adsense and how to make a lot of money from it, in the shortest possible time. Please you are v. welcome to visit it at http://www.AdsenseABC.com

I wholeheartedly wish you, my dear reader, all the best, and thanks for reading.

3 Ways You Can Generate Cash Using Google Adsense

By George Chao

In many webmaster forums, you are likely to come across this question: "How can I make money with Google Adsense?" Google Adsense is arguably the most popular pay-per-click advertising program today. Many webmasters are earning considerable money by displaying Google Adsense on their sites.

Yes, it is very possible to make money with Google Adsense. There are several effective and proven ways you can do this. The best part is that they are not complicated ways; they are
in fact very simple and easy to implement. Of course, exactly how much you make from Google Adsense largely depends on how much effort you put into your sites. Don't fall into believing
that you can make money from Google Adsense overnight. Like other types of work, you need to spend time as well as have the commitment and perseverance.

With all that said, you will learn three effective ways you can generate cash with Google Adsense -- through niche sites, forums and blogs.

Niche Sites: Targeted Market Equals Targeted and Higher Adsense Clicks

The word "niche" is today's buzz word. A niche is a specific market you want to focus on. If you are in the antique business, exactly what kind of antique do you deal with? Are you in the antique furniture business? antique dolls? antique cars? That's your niche.

Niche websites are sites that are focused on very specific markets or audience. Instead of a broad category, you narrow down into a target market or audience. For instance, a guitar website can be further made specific and focus on Fender Stratocaster guitars. People who are into Fender Stratocaster guitars are your target audience. Google Adsense ads that appear on this particular niche website appeal to your target audience and visitors. By being specific, you can generate higher clicks to your Google Adsense, which translate to higher Google Adsense earnings.

If you want to maximize your Google Adsense earnings, put up several niche websites instead of one website devoted to a broad category or topic. Instead of putting up a website about cars, put up several small websites focused on car repairs, care restoration, antique cars and such. By narrowing down your website's focus, you can attract targeted visitors who are likely to click on your Google Adsense ads.

Forums: Placing Google Adsense Ads that Stand Out

Do you run a highly active forum or online discussion board? If your forum receives a lot of traffic and has many members who regularly participate in online discussions, you can monetize
your forum pages by inserting Google Adsense in them. While forum users are known to be "ad blind", you can insert Google Adsense codes smartly.

For instance, you can make your Google Adsense ads stand out by using very bright colors. On niche sites, it is recommended that your Google Adsense ads blend in with the site. In online
forums, however, you can make money with Google Adsense by making the ads stand out. You can also make Google Adsense appear after a certain number of posts. Many forum owners have
discovered that Google Adsense ads placed at the bottom of the last post on every page generates a lot of clicks.

Blogs: Easy to Monetize with Google Adsense

Today, many are able to establish an online presence and have their voices heard. They do this by creating and maintaining their own blogs. In the last two years alone, literally hundreds of thousands of blogs have cropped up. Blog software like Wordpress and blog networks like Blogger make it easy for anyone, even the least techie, to set up his or her own blog and make money from it. There are bloggers who are reportedly making four-, five- and six-figure yearly income just by placing Google Adsense on their blogs.

Since Blogger is owned by Google, people with blogs on Blogger can easily integrate Google Adsense into their account. Even if you don't have an account with Blogger, you can still make money displaying Google Adsense ads on Wordpress-powered blogs hosted on your server or third-party host. Blog software like Wordpress have Google Adsense plugins. This means you can easily insert Google Adsense ad codes in your blog posts with just a click of a button.

To make the most out of your Google Adsense ads, it is recommended that you place a Google Adsense unit after each of your blog posts. If you are posting a long article, consider placing a Google Adsense unite in the middle of the article. And if you technically inclined (or you aren't afraid of a challenge), you can insert Google Adsense codes into your blog template. Do it this way and your Google Adsense ads will display on all your blog pages.

There you have it -- three ways you can generate cash from Google Adsense. Niche sites, forums and blogs are only three of the many ways you can make money from Google Adsense. If you are new online, start with a blog. Create an account on Blogger.com and test out the waters. As you become comfortable and acquire more technical skills, you can advance to creating niche sites and starting your own online forums and monetizing with Google Adsense.

Getting The Most Out Of Your Pay-per-click And Keyword Campaign

By ShirleyA Kelly

Before you start your next Pay-Per-Click or keyword campaign, you had better get a good understanding of what to do and what not to do or you will spend far more money than you intended and your ROI (rate on investment) will not be good. Having a good understanding of how pay-per-click advertising works can help drive targeted traffic to your website and increase your bottom line.

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is quickly becoming the fastest and most effective way to reach the top search engine rankings for given key words and phrases. The concept is simple - we pay
or bid competitively, for the placement within each search phrase.

While many of the search engines still have free inclusion, this does not always guarantee top placement. Keyword saturation and search engine optimization or the purposeful use of the keywords often within the website content, is also an unpredictable and often unsuccessful method of gaining ranking.

PPC ads are similar to typical ads within Search Engine Ranking Pages (SERP's), but they are above free listings often labeled "Sponsored Sites." While some offer image or banner advertising in the same auction manner, most PPC ad services focus on text ads with a website URL and brief description of what the site offers.

Where each ad is placed depends on the keywords and key phrases you select for your ad campaign. Depending on the PPC search engine, this fee may be as low as $.01 going up based on popularity, demand and exactly how much others are willing to pay for high placement.

While advertisers pay only by the actual clicks made, visibility is, in essence, free. However there is an unspoken fee associated with "unpopular" or rarely clicked ads. Most Pay-Per-Click services balance the ad click-through rate (CTR) or how many times a viewer clicks the ad and the bid amount we're willing to pay for each click when determining the ultimate seniority of each ad. Because CTR does play a significant role in placement, its wise to bid higher at the outset to gain significant clicks. It is also wise to gain as much interest and click through with each ad as possible to establish a stronger and lower priced ranking. Once this seniority is established, the cost may be lowered without harming the position quite as much.

PPC advertising offers instant results, good or bad. Once an ad is placed, it may be online immediately (in the case of Google AdWords) or within a week (in the case of Overture), receiving clicks and being rated immediately. Because of this instant response, unpopular keywords can be disenabled if not attended to fast enough making it next to impossible to use the keyword or phrase again. Also, because Pay-Per-Click advertising is an auction-style marketplace, SERP placement changes constantly.

To meet these needs, many major PPC advertising engines allow budget and automatic bid set-up. This allows you to put a maximum per day or per campaign budget on clicks, after which
the ad is taken down until the budget is either replenished or automatically rolled-over to the next period. For instance, an advertiser may place a budget of $100 dollars per day on a campaign. When clicks meets this ceiling, ads stop until the next day to use up the next $100.

When conducting a Pay-Per-Click ad campaign, remember to keep the customer and their motivation in mind, develop a list of keywords that describe the products and services, target
keywords the customer will be searching for and use specific phrases that clearly define the offering. Veer away from broad keyword matches, items we don't offer or information that isn't
available on the website.

The current PPC marketing has more advertising demand than available, top-ranking spots. It's not yet known how this demand will measure out or how PPC services will address this concern in the future.

Possibly the most important part of developing PPC ad campaigns is finding the right keyword phrases. To begin developing a strong keyword phrase list, type the initial ideas of what people would search for when seeking the website in a new Excel spreadsheet. Look through the site and analyze the words that describe the products or service. Review the website, identifying words that would be of most interest to the viewers. Check web server logs to find the words visitors currently use to find the site and what pages they find most interesting. Consider what action the customer should take - find information, purchase something, bookmark the site for later shopping or other positive advertising result.

Use the Google Keyword Tool, Overture Keyword Tool or http://WordTracker.com to find other relevant searches around the initial ideas. Its best practice to use the longest search phrases possible, using those no less than three words long. The more specific, the lower the cost and the more targeted traffic received. If selling specific brands, use the brand names in the keyword phrases.

Customers search during all phases of the shopping cycle - from gathering data to comparing prices and finally submitting their credit card with the store. Use keywords within each phase,
considering the highest conversion will come from the audience ready to buy.

Each keyword phrase should be product or service specific. Select the type of keyword searches the ad will show under, such as broad matches, exact matches, negative matches and so forth. For example, a bookshop may want to advertise under the key word phrase "car books," but not show up for the search term "Kelly blue book cars." They have the option of blocking searches with the term "Kelly blue book cars" in the phrase.

Keyword selection is important to narrow down the exact target audience and search relevance. Additionally, the ads gain a stronger click-through rate or CTR when carefully targeted to the search traffic. Ads with low CTR may be disenabled. Ads with high CTR will gain higher ranking at a lower bid cost.

When we target exactly what the consumer is looking for, conversion rate increases significantly.

When searching online, potential customers may type many variations of the keywords including misspellings, plural form or switched word orders. So use these in the Pay-Per-Click ads also to gain the strongest and broadest audience range.

When we target exactly what the consumer is looking for, conversion rate increases significantly.

When searching online, potential customers may type many variations of the keywords including misspellings, plural form or switched word orders. So use these in the PPC ads also to gain the strongest and broadest audience range.

Needless to say there are far more aspects to Pay-Per-Click and Keyword Selection than I can cover in this article but the information provided here should give you a good insight into understanding how important it is to have a good understanding of how the whole Pay-Per-Click and keyword selection works.

Advertise On My Site! - A Complete Review.

By Nick P. Bentley

Undoubtedly one of the hottest trends on the Internet today is blogging. The numbers are simply mind-boggling if one has to compare the number of blogs that have been created. This is an incredible way to interact with people who share similar interests and likes as you. This new world serves as a great networking tool. In fact I first discovered this when I decided to advertise on my blog.

At times I post freelance writing jobs on my blog for other writers. Employers advertise on my site indirectly. On the other hand this service is extremely appreciated by a number of my visitors who are in search for work. Instead of visiting countless web pages, many writers come directly to my blog to see what I advertise on my site.

Personally I like consistency so I prefer to take on solid projects with reliable clients. Nonetheless, there is something very appealing about the thrill of the chase. Despite the fact that I don't advertise on my site to find work for myself however I do get a kick out of hunting down the offers. Besides I appreciate the feedback given from the writers who find work through my blog. I simply cannot imagine looking for work on a daily basis. Well, actually, I can because I do search every day. Frankly speaking I really can't imagine relying on the search for my livelihood.

A number of the readers who visit the blog sometimes leave messages just to let me know that they were hired for one project or another. For sure, these messages make my day! I'm
happy to know that the site is doing some good. Unfortunately, one of my readers became offended that I use Google advertisements on my site. Indeed she wanted to know why I advertise on my blog for profit. Well, the profit is quite small. In fact I have found that writers are not really clickers. And in my opinion I also think that clicking on one or two ads is not a big price for the service I provide. Now this brings to mind the question about blog etiquette. A lot of seasoned bloggers get aggravated by the site of advertisements. Nevertheless, these readers should consider the purpose of the site before passing judgment.

The reason behind why I advertise on my site is because it offers a valuable service. Of course, the reader has the option of scrolling down past the advertisements if he isn't happy with them. There is absolutely no obligation at all to click on an ad. The fact is that several of my readers commented that they didn't even notice that I advertise on my blog until the complaint was posted on my site. I'd like to thank that person for complaining. This way my readers are taking time to give me a few clicks now!

Google Adsense - An Introduction To Earning Via Contextual Advertising

By Tuks Engineer

Google Adsense is a highly popular method of "contextual advertising". With Adsense, website owners can display text or image ads that are closely targeted to their site content. The site owner gets paid each time a visitor clicks on any Adsense advert displayed on the website. The amount that is paid per click depends on what the advertiser is willing to pay per click (minus Google's commission). The Adsense publishers commission can be just a few cents or several dollars per click. There are certain keywords available where advertisers pay over $100 for a single click.

This matching of content to ads is done automatically by Google, so for example, a website that has content about travel to the Maldives will bring up adverts about holidays in the Maldives - such as flights, resorts and other travel/holiday advert displays. The website owner benefits because they do not need to do anything aside from insert some simple code onto their site.

Google Adsense is closely related to Adwords. If you have searched through the Google search engine you have probably seen the sponsored ads that are found on the top and to the right of every page. Google Adsense just takes this concept a step further by allowing ads from the same advertisers to be displayed across billions of web pages & blogs. It's a simple yet highly powerful concept that has revolutionized online advertising. It allows grandma to make some residual income while sharing her apple pie recipes. It allows sports enthusiasts to set-up a blog following their favorite football/cricket/basketball team and make some money in the process. And it allows serious website content owners to make a significant stream of income by displaying adverts on their website network. Everyone has something to gain by using Adsense.

While some people rely mainly on Google Adsense for their website income, others use it to supplement their main income. The very top earners from Adsense are able to yield incomes of
several thousand dollars each month just from Adsense, but equally many struggle to collect just a few dollars daily from their Adsense sites. We'll look at how you can get into the former category shortly but first let's investigate some of the advantages & drawbacks of the Google Adsense system.

Make Sure You Understand The Google Policies Before Starting

While Adsense is a fantastic way of creating an online income stream, it's important to keep in line with its terms and conditions. Before you can set-up a Google account, it will check out your website to make sure you are eligible to participate in the Adsense program. Here are the Google policies that you should familiarize yourself with before and during your time with Adsense:

https://www.google.com/adsense/policies

Having quality content to offer is one of the biggest assets your website/blog will possess in order to qualify for the Adsense program. Having multiple informative articles on the general subject of your website niche will greatly improve your chances of being accepted into the Adsense program.

Advantages Of Using Google Adsense As An Income Generator

- It's easy to use and simple to set-up. For those who have content it's possible to start displaying Adsense adverts in minutes. It's one of the most accessible sources of online income available.

- Many people dislike "selling" online. If you fall into this category and the idea of having to write specialized sales letters does not appeal to you then Adsense could be a good income generation system for you. The website owner can focus on publishing good content & driving traffic to the site - the ads are automatically displayed and will sell themselves to the website visitor.

- Equally, many people dislike the customer service aspect of owning an online business. Having to deal with customer queries can be tedious and stressful. With Adsense, the site owner is paid each time someone clicks on one of the displayed ads, and that's all there is to it.

- In the right conditions, Adsense can be a significant source of income. Some website owners have proven to yield as much as $19,000 & more a month from Adsense income alone. Of course this type of income is very difficult to achieve when you first start up (unless you have a huge site network with massive traffic streams).

- Google has an incredibly large number of advertisers so however specialized your niche there's a high possibility of being able to participate in the Adsense program.

- Adsense offers a high degree of customization - the look and feel of the adsense displays can be changed to closely match your site. This ultimately results in higher click-through ratios.

- Just about anyone can make a start with Adsense. The program itself is free and even those who do not have the funds or technical expertise to set-up their own site can set-up a free blog.

- Google allows you to block out adverts that you do not want displayed on your pages (for example those of direct competitors).

Drawbacks With Google Adsense - Some Points To Consider If Operating This Model

- You need to have solid content to succeed with Adsense. For those with a lack of time to write their own content some investment may be required to hire a ghost-writer to create content for them, or to acquire private label rights content.

- As soon as the user clicks on the Adsense ad they are taken away from your site and onto the advertisers site (ie the ad does not open in a new window). This can lead to lost revenue for the website owner.

- Google takes a hefty chunk out of the amount that the advertiser pays to display his message on your website. This may be countered in the future as more "big players" enter the contextual ad market - the competition could mean a greater portion of the ad revenue will be retained by the website owner.

Increase Your Google Adsense Earnings The Visitor Friendly Way

By Barry Fenning

Google Adsense has provided website owners a simple way to make money online. Just copy and paste a simple piece of code into your website and you can be making money within 5 minutes. No wages for salespersons, no dealing with advertisers, no hassles. However, there is a big difference between making a couple of cents per day and retiring on your own private yacht
in the Caribbean . There is more to do than simply plugging your advertisements into any section of your website, sitting back, and hoping the cheques will start pouring through the
door.

If you are looking for a way to increase your earnings with Google Adsense with your Blog or Website then the following tips should help:

1. Blend you Adsense Advertisements with the rest of your page.

This is a very simple but not always used tip. Countless studies have shown that users are more likely to click on your Adsense advertisements if they have the same link and font colours as the rest of your page. Google makes sure that the advertisement relevancy matches the content of your web page so by blending the Adsense advertisements it will provide a consistent look to your page with relevant content as well.

2. Putting Adsense Above or Below the fold?

The "fold" is simply known as the bottom of the page. If you have to scroll down to see more information on a page, this section is known as "below the fold". Test your Adsense placement by analyzing the CTR (click through rate) that you get for advertisements that are above the fold, take them out and then put them below the fold, you'll get a better picture to see which has greater success. There is no hard-and-fast rule to what suits better but remember that success has a lot to do with location, location, location. So get testing.

3. Take the clutter out of your Website.

Like a good spring cleaning exercise look at your webpages and analyze what your visitors find useful and what gets very little clicks. This is not only good practice towards creating a more user-friendly website but it also allows you to test Adsense ads in different areas of your pages and see identify improvements on advertisement CTRs.

4. Help the Adsense robot.

A picture says a thousand words but to a robot/spider that is crawling your pages a picture says very little about what the content is about. If your site contains a lot of pictures then do yourself, your visitor, and the Adsense bot a favour and add some text to let everyone know what the image is about. This way the Adsense advertisements will be more targeted to what your site/page is all about and the user won't see unrelated advertisements within your website.

5. Increase your website traffic.

Seems like another obvious one, but so many good websites exist that aren't reaching their potential target market. By optimising your website to gain better search engine rankings,
participating in forums that are related to your website, submitting your website to industry related directories, and getting the word out there in any way that you can think of will help drive targeted visitors to your website. Remember that the internet is an amazingly powerful medium to facilitate word-of-mouth. The effort you put into promoting your site will be rewarded by satisfied visitors/customers spreading the word about your website throughout the World Wide Web. However, make sure that you have a quality website/product/service or the opposite can happen just as quick.

In conclusion by incorporating the above tips you should improve your Adsense earnings. I'm not telling you that by using the above that you'll be retiring on your yacht with your Pina Colada in hand. So don't quit your day-job. If you follow the advice above it will get you on your way to improving your CTRs, your website design, and the experience for your user. Probably the most important thing that these tips help you with is to encourage you to test and experiment with Adsense and not just assume that whatever the style you use and wherever you put it is the right place.

Make A Great Income With Adsense

Make A Great Income With Adsense

Keith George

The Google Adsense program pays the webmaster every time a
visitor of their website clicks on the ads that Google displays
in their web pages. Thus it has become a truly viable and
profitable option to earn a living online. So a correct
positioning of your Google adsense ads can make or break your
success with the Google adsense program.

Like me, many have been scouring the internet for a sure fire
way of making some extra income from your content rich website.
Numerous Internet marketeers have joined the Google Adsense
program and placed Google ads on their websites. But many have
also had the frustration of not getting enough visitors to the
site and again have been scouring the internet for information
on combining Google Adsense and Google Adwords to get targeted
visitors to your site.

Traffic

The effective techniques for high daily Adsense cash creation
must involve both traffic generation and the use of the highest
paying Adsense keyword phrases in your particular industry or
field. Many times you will find that the same keyword phrases
that will attract the highest paying daily Adsense cash ads
will also pull in significant traffic from leading search
engines, meaning that your technique can aim at hitting two
birds with the same stone. To increase the traffic to my
website I write articles and submit to ezines to get traffic as
well as external links. Many back links is one of the keys to
rank your website higher.

Keywords

If you use Adwords keyword tool to select keywords you will be
better off and get some valuable information. Make notes,
notice the main headlines and keywords used. But, filling your
advertisement page with texts too small to read, has the same
color as the background and using css for the sole purpose of
loading them with rich keywords content will most probably earn
you a penalty.

The search engine robot picks out keywords on your page, gets a
grip on what your website is about and delivers links that take
users to sites that interest them. The owner of a site about
acne scars then would be able to do a little research online to
find the highest paying keywords in this area and then - if you
know where those hotspots are - you can place those keywords in
the right areas on the page. Google Adsense has very good
information on how effective the placement of ads are.

Clicks

Every time a visitor to your website clicks on one of the
links, you receive a small amount of revenue. The traffic flow
into the Adsense site dictates the number of clicks a certain
Adsense site may incur. To achieve the Adsense dream, a
webmaster must produce a site that has the factors and
characteristics needed to generate the traffic and clicks it
needs to be profitable.
The webmaster get paid a portion of the money Google receives
from it's advertisers each time someone clicks an ad on your
site.

Relevant

It is really amazing that all you need to do with the AdSense
program is to take a small piece of code, paste it into your
website and instantly relevant ads start appearing. As soon as
your account is approved for adsense ads then the most relevant
ads will show on your webpage. With fewer relevant ads you get
fewer clicks with lower Adsense revenues. While ad formatting
and placement may affect ad click through rates, they have
nothing to do with the delivery of relevant ads to your site.
To make the pagerank of your site higher you should update it
regularly and you should also introduce a relevant RSS feed.

Going Broke on Google Adwords?

Kim Roach

Going Broke on Google Adwords?

You've heard the stories. Click fraud has run rampant on

Google, Yahoo, and MSN. This is evidenced by the numerous

law suits that have been filed.

One of the most notable cases occurred this year when Google

settled their own click fraud case to the tune of 90 million

dollars (http://www.bigmouthmedia.com/live/articles/

google-vs-lanes-gifts--settling-for-better-or-f.asp/3201/).

In fact, Google and Yahoo have each settled a class action

lawsuit filed by marketers.

Click Fraud - What It Is

So, what is click fraud and how does it occur? Wikipedia

provides us with a definition:

"Click fraud occurs in pay per click online advertising when a

person, automated script, or computer program imitates a

legitimate user of a web browser clicking on an ad, for the

purpose of generating an improper charge per click. Click fraud

is the subject of some controversy and increasing litigation due

to the advertising networks being a key beneficiary of the fraud

whether they like it or not."

However, I would like to simplify this definition. Click fraud

is a crime, plain and simple. Cybercrime, however, is hard to

track. Law enforcement has only just recently started focusing

on the threat of click fraud.

Click fraud is now being targeted by some of the industry's

biggest names. This movement has both the American court and

government system involved. Business Week recently announced

b4003001.htm?chan=innovation_branding_top+stories)

that major brands including Expedia.com and mortgage broker

LendingTree.com planned to go public with their disputes

over click fraud in late September.

Who can blame them? When it's your money that's going out the

door, you need to be asking questions. Unfortunately, Google

and Yahoo haven't come up with many answers.

They have certainly paid lip service, indicating that they have

systems in place to deter it, but the click fraud numbers

continue to rise.

The Threat to a Popular Advertising Model

The Interactive Advertising Bureau estimates that 20 to 35

percent of ad clicks are fraudulent. The multi-billion dollar

search industry is under attack and the problem is not going

away anytime soon.

Advertisers are being cheated and the search engines appear to

be sitting on the sidelines, leaving much of the responsibility

for detecting click fraud with advertisers, the majority of whom

lack the tools and knowledge to detect it.

The high level of click fraud has undermined advertisers'

confidence and some have even pulled their entire ad campaigns.

For small to medium-sized businesses click fraud effectively

erodes ROI, impacting the bottom line and future marketing

initiatives.

Click fraud is also the single biggest threat to companies like

Google and Yahoo, whose digital empires are largely dependent

on their advertising revenues. Google's $6 billion-a-year

advertising business is especially at risk. Despite the threat,

or maybe because of it, Google is saying little about click

fraud and the pay-per-click concept as a whole.

While Google maintains its silence, many advertisers and savvy

online entrepreneurs wonder where pay-per-click is headed. Click

fraud threatens to destroy the very business that Google thrives

on. In fact, click fraud losses have surpassed the total loss

attributed to credit card fraud in the U.S.

Do the current click fraud problems have the power to slow the

growth of pay-per-click search advertising or even bring it to

a screeching halt?

Well, that's hard to say, but the industry as a whole is

certainly being crippled by this problem. Pay-per-click may

not be the future. Many advertisers are now starting to look

at advertising options that offer an uncorrupted alternative.

Flat-fee advertising, pay-per-percentage, and pay-per-action

are all possibilities, but there is one alternative in

particular that deserves attention.

This search engine advertising model was first put forward by

ExactSeek.com (http://www.exactseek.com/featured_listings.html)

and then promoted through the ISEDN (Independent Search Engine &

Directory Network) which ExactSeek founded in June, 2005. The

model promulgated by ExactSeek and the ISEDN does not eliminate

click fraud but does eliminate the cost associated with it.

How the ISEDN Model Works

The ISEDN charges a flat fee for advertising, making click fraud

a pointless endeavor for scam artists, "paid to read" rings and

cutthroat competitors. Your competition could click on your ISEDN

listings all day long and it wouldn't cost you a single penny

more than what you originally paid.

$3-$4 provides you with an entire month's worth of advertising

across a network of 235+ search engines and web directories. If

you choose to buy in volume, you can even expect some significant

discounts.

Let's face it, pay-per-click advertising is expensive. There are

a number of companies who spend $5,000 to $10,000 per month on

paid search marketing. Competition is fierce with many keywords

costing $5 per click or more.

The problem is then compounded when you consider that 20 to 35

percent of those advertising dollars are wasted on fraudulent

clicks. Just imagine. If you are paying $1,000 dollars per

month to advertise on Google, $200 - $350 of those dollars are

wasted on click fraud.

If you want to lower your click fraud costs, you need to buy

click fraud monitoring software, which is quite pricey.

Unfortunately, few click fraud monitoring companies target

small to medium sized businesses.

The ISEDN offers an affordable alternative that charges a

one-time, flat fee. The initial cost is the only cost.

Within this unique advertising model, the sale of any keyword or

phrase is limited to 30 advertisers. Regardless of whether a

keyword term is sold 5 or 30 times, ads rotate within the SERPs

and throughout the ISEDN. The rotation ensures that every ad

appears in the top 10 search results. In the worst case scenario,

a listing would appear on the first page of results approximately

once out of every 3 searches.

Of course, you can't expect the same exposure provided by Google

or Overture. Google alone receives millions of searches per day.

However, if you are looking for a consistent return on your

investment without wasting a penny on click fraud, then the

ISEDN provides an affordable and lucrative solution.

Not to mention, the ISEDN is growing every day. An average of

3- 5 search engines are added every week. As the network

continues to grow, your ad automatically receives more exposure.

This program gives advertisers the benefit of advertising with

smaller search engines on a massive scale without the fear of

click fraud and without the hassle of managing multiple

advertising accounts. For more information on the ISEDN, visit

http://www.exactseek.com/featured_listings.html.

Summing It Up

The rules in search engine advertising are shifting and the

winners are adapting.

As for Google, Yahoo, and MSN, you can definitely expect to see

some changes being made with their paid search programs in the

near future. Cybercrime is still a crime and law enforcers are

finally starting to take these problems seriously.

The pay-per-click model is inherently flawed and must be altered

to survive. Google and the other major search engines know that

their business will be crippled if they do not adapt. The

challenge for them is how to adapt and still maintain those

multi-billion dollar bottom lines.

Fortunately, there are individuals, groups, companies and

organizations more interested in finding and providing

solutions to the problem of click fraud than in propping up

a flawed concept. Those leading the fight against click-fraud,

like the ISEDN, may never see 10 figure bottom lines like Yahoo

or Google, but the revenue they do make won't be based on

fraudulent clicks and at your expense.

Article - The Common Goal Of SEO And Paid Search Advertising

Danny Wirken

The Common Goal Of SEO And Paid Search Advertising

The goals of both Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Paid Search Advertising are geared towards the same direction. Their services aim to help convert a quiet traffic stream into a busy information highway. This means new clients on a daily basis due to increased traffic and visibility.

Search Engine Marketing

Search Engine Marketing (SEM) definitely refers to both advertising and optimization methods. Internet advertising to most marketers is primarily about having control over position, keywords, listing copy and visitors' landing pages.

Optimization, on the other hand is about coming up with a website design that can easily be crawled, indexed and well-ranked by major search engines.

There are several types of SEM services including search engine advertising, paid submission for directories, search engine optimization marketing and aggregators marketing. Search engine advertising includes the Paid-For- Placement (PFP) or the Pay-Per-Click (PPC) program as well as contextual advertising.

A placement on the result pages of the search site and within its distribution network is guaranteed upon payment. The key factors of this type of advertising are keyword research and selection, bid price, effective ad copy and traffic landing pages.

Paid submission actually applies to directories. In this type of marketing program, the website owner pays for a human based review of its site although inclusion is not always guaranteed.

The site is usually included from 7 to 14 days depending on the directory. The success of paid inclusion is largely determined by the selection of the category as well as the title and description of the business.

Search engine optimization aims to produce organic and natural results through the design and creation of spider-friendly websites. It is basically a science of keywords placement, content enhancement, site structure and link popularity campaign that is expected to maximize the probability of attaining top ranking. It is considered the heart of all SEM campaign notwithstanding the fact that more and more business developers tend to forget its importance. Although it is not impossible to achieve very swift results, an optimization process usually takes a few months to have its goal realized.

The aggregators or price engines have made it a lot easier for online shoppers to get the information they need about required products and their associated price. They are able to offer a broad range of pricing and features. Chances of success are maximized through pricing strategy, product availability, product description and shipping rates.

Online businesses are facing tough decisions on setting a budget for online marketing specifically for organic search engine optimization. Paid advertising is very much in demand which accounts for quickly eaten up budget. More often than not, depleted advertising budgets are readily remedied by providing a new budget. The same cannot be said for SEO budgets as campaigns tend to end as budgets are exhausted. SEO is apparently not getting the respect it deserves since the success of organic optimization is a lot more difficult to measure. The real value of the keywords that make the rank will be better seen as more improved and cheaper analytical tools become available.

Statistics would show that there are at least two offline sales generated for every online sale that occurs. Research reports reveal that a large percentage of searchers complete their purchases in offline retail stores. This is considered a direct result of their search activity.

Telemarketing and other forms of leads generation have been sending signals of a saturated market. This has prompted many companies especially the manufacturers to turn to the web to get new leads. Finding a prospect usually starts with a paid search strategy which eventually evolve into SEO. Maximum results are obtained from the combined strategies only if companies commit to make SEO a part of their long term marketing strategy. The ultimate measure of success of Search Engine Marketing is generating leads and closing sales.

The Search Environment Under SEM Strategies

Majority of the marketing budgets from small businesses are dominated by paid search. The smaller a company is, the higher its reliance on paid search and the higher the percentage of total spending. SEO is quickly overtaking spending on banner ads for manufacturers as focus is shifted to training existing web team staff and education on the creation of content that is optimized for search engines.

The first half of 2006 can be considered a period of expansion, growth and significant change in search marketing. Never have there been as many online options available to advertisers and their agents like now. Search has become a part of the mainstream marketing consciousness, but there remains much room for innovation and invention. This development has presented a dilemma for the traditional search marketing sector.

There are at least three major search related marketing venues

existing: the traditional organic search results, the paid search advertising market and the social networking sphere.

Each of these venues use some form of search as a distinctive guide towards finding information while a tremendous amount of integration and interaction exists between them.

The SEO sector is being overshadowed by the PPC market and at the same time being challenged by social networking. Major search engines constantly strive to improve and innovate on methods that would correctly rank web documents. This is the very reason for the fundamental changes seen in organic search engine optimization.

SEO focuses on a myriad of on-site and off-site issues such as hosting, link acquisition and competitive research. An increasing number of applications are being added for organic search results. The dozens of on-page elements which SEO works on makes it more complicated due to the time involved. However, fresh and focused content remains the single most reliable element of a successful website.

Paid search advertising has been experiencing a rapid growth as a sub-sector of the industry, propelling Google and Yahoo! to the front of the pack. It continues to undergo several forms of expansion to allow more and newer options for advertisers. The distribution of paid ads to third party web properties is a very interesting aspect of paid search advertising. Click fraud detection and advocacy is closely associated with this particular venue.

The social networking atmosphere is touted to be the most fluid search marketing venue. It is expected to be a preparatory step towards transition in web-interactive development. It is currently taking place in an environment that is tagged as Web2.

Pay-per-click Marketing Strategy Can Boost Your Sales

Article written by: Andy West

Every business out there is competing hard with others offering
like products or services, thanks to the way the world has
opened up and provided consumers with access to many different
resources. Thanks to the pay-per-click marketing strategy found
across the internet, someone requiring a service in Canada can
easily hire a business in Florida or a product manufactured in
Colorado can reach an end user in Australia. This is great,
because the opportunities for higher sales and income are vast,
compared to previous decades where your business was only
locally known or only popular in the surrounding cities.

Stiff competition, however, has also meant that anyone with a
business needs to promote and market their company effectively,
encouraging and enticing surfers to visit their site and
hopefully purchase their product or service. Having a
pay-per-click marketing strategy to make sure your website gets
seen and receives plenty of hits is integral to your business's
success, because if you're not receiving traffic to your site,
you've got a seriously struggling venture on your hands.

There are plenty of ways to boost sales and promote your
website these days. Information is the current trend in
tempting surfers to click links and reach your site. Articles
posted on your website that teach people something new or give
them pertinent information are helpful to draw in clientele.
Press releases can also be effective to bringing attention to
your business or company. Thanks to the way that individuals
quickly turn to computers and the internet for their
information, the written word and fundamental text has become
the strongest venue to drawing in business.

Pay-per-click or PPC advertising is another growing method of
boosting hits to your website. This principle of marketing is a
venture of cooperation between websites, as you ask other sites
to display a link for your website. When individuals are
attracted to an ad displayed on a website, they click to follow
the link through to your business portal. The company
advertising your link receives income that you supply. In
effect, this pay-per-click marketing strategy is paying someone
to promote your company.

For someone adept with computers and having great interpersonal
and negotiation skills, pay-per-click can be set up by an
individual. Most people, however, don't have the know-how or
the time to work through the steps needed to set up this type
of advertising. The best thing to do is to hire a PPC
consulting firm that has all the resources and networking
skills to build an effective promotion program. Not only that,
hiring a pay-per-click consulting firm means that you don't
have to worry about links on dead sites, maintenance or
creating a catchy advertisement.

Companies devoted to PPC consulting will work with you to
develop a strong pay-per-click marketing strategy to know what
product or service you're trying to sell. From there, they'll
define your market target and develop surveys to help with the
set-up of the promotion program. Once they've achieved result
from these surveys, pay-per-click consulting firms will create
advertisement that reaches the people you want it to and test
the results. Revisions are sure to come into play, and
businesses geared to pay-per-click consulting will compare
their marketing against solid results. Considering the amount
of work involved in this type of promotion, you certainly don't
want to go less than the full distance by trying to set up
pay-per-click advertising yourself.

Reputable consulting firms that specialize in creating a
pay-per-click marketing strategy for businesses are ones that
are geared to website promotion. Every type of industry has
experienced and skilled experts and the common
jack-of-all-trades individual won't be able to pull off such an
intensive networking to boost your sales. If you're serious
about a successful business, you should hire companies that
provide exactly what you need and you'll soon be able to see
that the cost of their time and efforts pays for itself over
and over again as your sales increase.

Be A Smarter Online Advertiser With Google's Secure Conversion Tracking

By: Danny Wirken

Pay-per-click ads are the latest craze in cyber world today,
particularly with website owners. This is mainly due to the
fact that it's cheaper than any form of advertising found
online, since you will not be charge for your ad until a
visitor clicks on it. Now, is it any wonder why Google is so
keen on improving AdWords? Rumor has it that Google's new
secure conversion tracking mechanism will revolutionized the
face of pay per click ads.

Just what is conversion tracking you ask? In paid search
advertising, their main goal is to lead visitors to the right
web sites through clicking a certain ad. After which the
visitor is compel to perform some action that meets the goal of
the site owner. This normally entails either a purchase,
membership sign up for websites and newsletter, page view or
lead. Once these goals are met then a conversion occurs.

Conversions can be considered as the lifeblood of a business
and Google has found a way for you to track them efficiently.
But most importantly, the mechanism is said to be secured. This
breakthrough hopes to help you identify whether or not your
AdWords ads and keywords are effective.

How so? Google's secure conversion tracking entails putting a
cookie on a user's computer once he or she clicks on an ad.
Once the user clicks on your ad that reaches one of your
conversion pages the user's browser will then send the cookie
to a Google server. After which a tiny conversion tracking icon
will immediately be displayed at your site. Once the process is
completed Google will then record a successful conversion for
you. This information will be included in the Campaign Summary
section of the "Campaign Management" tab of your AdWords
account. Actually, this conversion-tracking mechanism works the
same way as the program that Google utilizes in placing
contextual ads on websites. This program is popularly known as
Google's Adsense.

Going back on Google's secure conversion tracking mechanism,
there might be CTR or click through rate that helps determine
whether your keywords are effective. However, remember that it
is only good for measuring the relevancy of your keywords. It
might tell you that users searching for that keyword are
interested enough in your ad to visit your site, but it cannot
determine what happens once the user gets to your site.
Therefore, it offers little help in determining whether your
ads and keywords are effective. This is where Google's secure
conversion tracking comes in handy.

With Google's secure conversion tracking; you will be able to
see which clicks actually lead to purchases. This is a vital
factor in deciding which of your keywords are worth investing
in and which are not. What's more Google is offering this
secure conversion tracking mechanism entirely free of charge.

What do you need to get started? To start your secure
conversion tracking all you need to do is simply place a few
lines of code. This means that you must be familiar with HTML
and other web tools, if you want to place the conversion
tracking code snippet without hitch. Otherwise, you will need a
webmaster to deal with the codes. Also, you will need to have
access to your website's code and of course your Google AdWords
account.

Google have provided an online documentation that will guide
you through the code snippet insertion instructions. To avoid
problems, it might be a good idea to read and understand these
setup instructions before you began the actual installation
process. The documentation also offers specific snippet
insertion instructions for various web programming languages,
such as Active Server Pages (ASP), Sun Java Server Pages (JSP),
PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP), Macromedia Dream Weaver and
Microsoft FrontPage.

Once your code snippet are properly installed, you can now
access your conversion tracking reports from the Campaign
Summary page and Reports Center at least an hour after the
first conversion from your AdWords account. You will also be
able to see conversion reports down to the keyword level.

Google's secure conversion tracking offers great flexibility
when it comes to setting up your tracking preferences. If you
want to immediate begin tracking aggregate data then you can
simply use the initial code snippet that Google provided. Now
if you prefer a more detailed conversion statistics then use
the advanced tracking settings. It's all up to you!

Another unique feature of Google's secure conversion tracking
is the tracking notification. This feature is making quite a
controversy. Part of the Google's new secure conversion
tracking is that it notifies users that they are being tracked.
This notification is created by the Google-supplied code that
you add to the results page. Then the tracked user will see a
message titled Google Site Stats, which includes a "send
feedback" link once the results page is opened.

According to Google they prefer to be upfront with their
actions and insist that the send feedback link will give the
consumer the chance to understand Google's privacy policies,
and even reject the Google tracking cookie. This can very well
be a double edge sword. On the positive side, users might
appreciate the honesty and the fact that they are given option
whether to proceed or not. However, most users tend to become
extra wary once they realized that their actions are being
tracked.

Google's AdWords also include a cross-channel conversion
tracking feature. This feature allows you to do conversion
traffic coming in to your web properties even if it is from
other advertising networks. This will prove to be advantageous
particularly if you are sending out ads across multiple
advertising ventures. How so? Well, you will be able to use the
powerful AdWords reporting facilities to gather all information
regarding conversions all in one place.

The search giant that they are indeed a fore to be reckon with.
With Google's secure conversion tracking you can now have access
to conversion data in your reports which can help you make
smarter decisions when it comes to online advertising, for
instance about which ads or keywords to invest in. Moreover,
armed with a more accurate and efficient data, you can now
better gauge your overall return on investment (ROI) for your
AdWords campaigns.

You Don't Need More Traffic To Make More Money

By: Adam McFarland

Every website owner has a somewhat unhealthy obsession with
driving more traffic to their site. We all want more traffic,
if for nothing else to be able to brag to others how many
unique visitors we've received. Competition among web owners
aside, actually doing something with that traffic is equally as
important as getting it. Yet for some reason, most site owners
make the mistake of focusing most of their time on getting more
traffic and rarely, if ever, focus on improving their conversion
rate.

What is a conversion?

A conversion happens whenever a visitor to your site performs a
desired action. It might be purchasing a product, signing up for
a newsletter, signing up for an account, or even clicking on an
advertisement (although I'd advise against making the goal of
your site to have someone click away from it). One way or
another, if you have a site, you've got a desired action that
you want the user to perform.

How big of a difference can it make?

Consider Company A and Company B. Both sell online
subscriptions to their news services for a one-time fee of
$100. They each attract 1000 unique visitors per day. Company A
converts 2% of their visitors whereas Company B converts 5%. Big
deal right? How much does 3% really matter? Well, Company A
sells 20 subscriptions per day, or 7,300 per year for $730,000
of revenue. Not bad. But Company B sells 50 subscriptions per
day, or 18,250 per year for $1,825,000 of revenue!

Without any variation in traffic, you can improve conversion
rate on your site and drastically increase revenue. Now, is
increasing from 2% to 5% going be a challenge? Certainly, but
it is by no means impossible and in most cases is probably
easier than you think.

What's a good conversion rate?

Some people will tell you that an "average" conversion rate is
2%-5% and an "amazing" conversion rate is 10%-15%. To me,
that's a broad statement. I'm not saying that you should
completely ignore those numbers, just that you should
understand where they are coming from. Those numbers tend to
apply to e-commerce sites selling to consumers. They also don't
factor in where traffic is coming from, product pricing, and
about a hundred other potential factors that could affect your
conversion rate.

There are times when a 2% conversion rate is phenomenal. For
example, if you are selling software licenses for $20,000,
converting 1 in 50 visitors is pretty exemplary. On the flip
side, if your goal is to have people sign up for a football
newsletter and all of your traffic is coming from an ad you
placed on NFL.com, 15% might be considered really poor.

My answer to "what's a good conversion rate" is any conversion
rate that's better than your current one.

Start by doing a self-evaluation and set a baseline

Before you can even think about trying to increase your
conversion rate, you need to have a system in place to track
your current conversions. In its simplest form, conversion rate
can be calculated by dividing the number of conversions into the
number of visitors to your site for a specified time period.
Most site owners will want more in depth statistics (such as
what page visitors came from and what pages potential customers
left their site from) so I would recommend a web analytics
program like the free Google Analytics that provides in-depth
reporting and can calculate your conversion rates for you.

How will I know if my changes worked?

In my mind, the only way to think about conversion rate is to
start at your current rate and start striving to convert 100%
of the visitors to your site. Is that ever going to happen?
Probably not, but as Les Brown said - "shoot for the moon, even
if you miss, you'll land among the stars." Shoot for 100%
conversion rate and even if you don't get there, in attempting
to do so you'll be instilling the necessary qualities for
amazing improvements.

With that in mind, you should begin the process of trying to
improve your conversion rate from your baseline. The bad news
when it comes to increasing conversion rate is that there is no
"one thing" that every site owner can do to increase it. The
good news is that there are literally thousands of things that
you can try that might increase it. Each one of those things
might help, or each might hurt.

And therein lies the key to success in increasing conversion
rate - testing, evaluating, and then testing and evaluating
some more. Each time you should be striving to "beat your
previous best." If you went from 2% to 2.2%, keep the change
and try for 2.5% with your next change. If you went from 2% to
1.5%, undo the change and try to get back over 2% with your
next change. In general, you should give a sufficient amount of
time to evaluate a change - I generally use one month as a rule
of thumb, but you should factor in how much traffic you get and
how large the change is when determining how long collect data
for before evaluating a change.

What type of changes should I make?

As I mentioned before, there are thousands of things that you
can change that can affect conversion rates. So where should
you start? Start by walking in the shoes of your customer.
Using the example of an e-commerce site, there are several
types of customers that find your site. For the customer
looking to buy immediately, is it easy to find the "buy" button
or do you have to look around for it? For the customer wanting
more information (product info, shipping info, or info about
your business), is that easy to find? And for customers just
browsing, do you have a way to entice them to buy, or at least
entice them to sign up for a newsletter so that you can try to
convert them at a later time?

Asking yourself those questions should result in several subtle
changes and probably a few not-so-subtle changes that you can
make. In addition, ask yourself whether or not the design of
your site - logo, layout, colors, and font - appeal to senses
and make it easy for people to find what they're looking for.

You should also seriously consider the content of your text. Is
it possible that some people don't understand what your product
or service does? Could international users interpret your
phrases differently than domestic users, and if so, is there a
way you could re-word your copy to avoid confusion? Ad copy is
a funny thing - a subtle word change can often drastically
affect conversion rates. The only way to know is to test.

Remember, you should only make one change at a time to be able
to properly evaluate it. Each change will help point you in the
right direction of the next change. Much like SEO, increasing
conversion rate is not a one time event, it is an improvement
process that you facilitate over the life of your site. That
said, it is not an extremely difficult process, and when used
in conjunction with sound SEO it can bring results to your site
that you could have never imagined.

Copywriting With Google's Dynamic Keyword Insertion Tool

By: Karon Thackston

Automation is an odd creature. It usually seems, at first

glance, that automating a process can make things easier,
simpler and faster. But oftentimes, once an automated process
is in place, trouble spots pop up. This is sometimes the case
when looking at the copywriting aspect of Google's dynamic
keyword insertion tool.

In case you're unfamiliar with dynamic keyword insertion (DKI),
it's a feature of Google's AdWords program. It is often used
for large campaigns in order to automatically insert the keyword
into the headline of an ad. Truly, it's a lifesaver for many
pay-per-click (PPC) ad managers who have to stay on top of
thousands of ads every day. It's all done with a simple syntax
command: {keyword:_______}.

>From a timesaving standpoint, this is a wonder tool that has
rescued PPC managers from the mind-numbing chore of typing the
same keywords over and over. From an economic point-of-view,
DKI *can* (not always) perform well enough to make it a viable
option for larger campaigns. But what happens with regard to
copywriting and eye tracking?

See It and Click It

The human eye is normally drawn to things that are unusual.
Things that look out of place or different get noticed far more
than things that blend in. For instance, on a page full of
black text and black & white photographs, a small red square in
the bottom corner will get focused on almost immediately. Why?
Because it is completely different than everything else around
it.

This same principle applies when considering your copywriting
strategy for AdWords. When using DKI, you'll want to keep your
eye on the results pages. Why? We've all heard that using the
keyphrase in the headline pulls better. It does. most of the
time. There is an exception, however. This exception is what
you'll be watching.

In fact, a study done last year by Enquiro, Did-It and Eyetools
tracked users' interactions with the Google search results page.
It found that surfers normally reviewed the page in an F
formation. They would scan vertically down the left side of the
page and then over to the right (where paid ads are) *IF*
something caught their attention. That's the point we'll
explore in this article.

In order to get clicks, you first have to get seen. If your ad
looks and reads like all the rest, you've completely lost your
originality advantage.

See For Yourself

Copywriting using DKI is a balancing act. You have to consider
several factors, including the character count of your longest
keyphrase, your ability to add text to the keyword-rich headline
and how the ad looks on the page.

Take a look at some examples below. Remember that AdWords
results show differently at various points throughout the day
(and in relation to individual account parameters), so you may
not see exactly what I saw when doing this research. I'm sure
it will be close enough for you to get the idea.

Go to Google and type in the phrase "cruise vacation center"
(without using the quote marks). See how all the ads look
different? They don't all have the same words bolded. They
don't all use the same copy. The bold words stand out because
they are different. In this case, your eye will usually go
first to the ads with bolded words in the headline.

You see ads offering a 6-night cruise for $xx.xx and other ads
promoting X% off on a cruise vacation, etc. There is diversity
and that's a good thing.

Now, what if you type in "home improvement"? (Again, without
the quotes.) If your results page looks like mine, practically
every ad has the exact same headline: home improvement. Not
only do most of the ads look the same, the headlines read the
same. Your eye doesn't know where to go because everything
seems identical. But wait! About four or five ads down,
something catches your eye. It's an ad that has no bold in the
headline. That stands out because it's different! As you
scroll further down the page, more ads with no bold in the
headlines pop out at you. In this case, because everyone else
has opted for the DKI feature, their headlines are all very
similar, making them less noticeable. But the ones who wrote
custom headlines won out, thanks to diversity.

Tips for Writing With DKI

If you want or need to write using the DKI option, consider
these tips:

1. Use a descriptive word along with your keyphrase. Instead
of just inserting the phrase "airline tickets," place the word
"discount" or "cheap" before your keyphrase to help it stand
out.

2. For keyphrases that will take the entire 25-character limit,
consider using one word of the keyphrase in the headline,
instead of the entire phrase. Rather than "home improvement,"
try inserting just "home" or "improvement" along with other text
you write yourself.

3. Keep it applicable. Your headline still has to convey a
strong message about what the customer can expect at your site.

4. Test & Track! Everything in advertising is subject to
change. Smart marketers always test and track to get the best
results.

With a little forethought, you can develop a combination of DKI
and custom-written AdWords ads that drive qualified visitors to
your site.

Ideas For Online Advertising And Blogs

By:Danny Wirken

Nowadays, a lot of people are clicking into the Internet daily.
A good number of this activity has a lot to do with online
advertising and blogs. The actual effect of online advertising
and blogging can be gauged by the continuously increasing
number of participants whether as individuals or organizations.

Traditional and Online Advertising

As compared to a traditional advertising, online ads produce
quick results at low cost. Business entrepreneurs going into
online advertising aim to attract more visitors to their
websites. Once the desired traffic is established, follow-up is
necessary to convert these viewers into customers or buyers.

Through the follow-up promotional technique, people tend to buy
more even if it was not the original intention of the customer.
People who have purchased once will buy again if a timely
follow-up is made. When a person trusts a particular product or
service, he/she continues to buy primarily due to the
satisfaction they get. Follow-up and follow through is very
important. It is a good practice in sales to get a customer to
ensure that they are happy and contented with their purchase.
This can also be an opportune time to present the customer with
a follow-up offer but selling should only be secondary to
customer service inquiry.

There are several online advertising methods and strategies
which can be used to generate more visitors, subscribers and
buyers into a website.

An Affiliate Program or Associate Program can be used to get
interested visitors to go into a site while having other people
do the legwork. This means that other people will do the job of
promoting the products and services. The program starts when
affiliates send visitors to a site with the use of text
referrals, logos, banner ads or anything used for promotion.
These visitors are then traced and tallied in a special
software. Once these visitors turn into buyers, the affiliate
is paid a commission. This is a sure win since affiliates are
paid only for sales made. There is absolutely no risk because
payment is made only when interested customers actually buy the
product or service. There is no cash out unless there is actual
cash received from the sale of product or service. What is
important here however is that affiliates should be well paid
for their efforts since unattractive incentives will fail to
provide the needed motivation. Additional incentives, such as
rewards or bonuses will do the business good and will surely
increase sales.

The Pay Per Click (PPC) Strategy is the powerful and fastest
way to bring targeted traffic into a website. With this PPC
method, it is easy to attract visitors who are interested with
the products and services through the use of the proper
keywords. As the name implies, payment of premium is made every
time a visitor clicks in a link. This strategy if correctly done
is very profitable. However, lots of money can be lost if not
used properly and carefully. Many people believe that the only
way to develop a successful pay per click ad is to get to the
number one position. However, being number one does not
necessarily mean being the best. There is no wisdom in being
ranked number one if it will translate to more expenses. To be
successful with PPC engines, bids should be kept as low as
possible.

Advertisers cannot afford to waste money on ineffective buys.
When ad response is very low, there is a need to concentrate on
improving the creative of the ad. Before choosing any
advertising idea, goals must be defined and clear objectives
stated. Identification of sites relevant to any product or
service is required to get started. Effective sites are those
which appeal to target customers and users. Messages need to be
able to go through. They should be easily understood especially
by the target audience. Promotional messages must be strong and
specific and rich media may be used to expand it. This could add
more depth to the creative and expand the capacity of responses.
Another way is to design ads as if it belongs to the site where
advertising is placed. Multiple versions of ads can be created
by as much as 3 to 4 versions. This can be achieved by changing
the promotional message, color schemes or text fonts. Do not be
afraid to experiment as adjustments on the ads based on initial
reactions can still be made. There should be no room in settling
for poor responses as ads should be made to work.

Online entrepreneurs are always on the lookout for effective
and affordable online advertising tools. In the process of
searching for the right advertising tool, so much time, money
and effort are devoted. These online advertising tools can
create and generate vast number of traffics, but if visitors
are not converted into buyers, the time, money and effort are
all wasted. It is therefore very important that adequate
attention be given to online ads that will convert viewers into
paying customers. The most vital tool to track performance is
the sales report copy. The percentage of buyers over the total
number of visitors will determine whether or not a business is
doing well. If the percentage of conversion is not good then
sales technologies and strategies should be improved.

Some website operators erroneously use the traditional brick
and mortar advertising technique in developing their sales
copy. This causes sales copy to be ineffective as an online
advertising tool. Traditional advertising is designed to get
shoppers into a retail store where the sales person would take
up the selling process. This is not true for Internet ads. Ads
attract visitors but there would be no sales personnel to meet
them as in brick and mortar stores. The sales copy is the sales
person. In this case, the sales report is not only an
advertising tool but also an online sales tool. Actual
advertisements should include website page titles and
descriptions. The rest of the copywriting should be sales
oriented. Without a website copy acting as a sales tool, the
use of the best online advertising tools on the net to attract
traffic will be fruitless.

Blogs and Advertising

Increasing the readership of blogs take time, patience and hard
work. Blogs that have good quality content as well as
interesting and original, are those which attracts more
readers. A good blog design is of vital importance if a blog is
to create a good first impression. With several blogs and sites
around, a good weblog lay-out counts. It is also necessary to
link to other blogs and interact with readers. Having
interaction with others invites involvement with readers and
produce repeat visitors. Active participation in web forums and
discussion pages may allow for addition of a signature to the
post and raise the profile in the process.

Position is a key element in successful advertising. A
billboard positioned along a busy intersection will not produce
the same result as a billboard in a road where no one drives.
The design and position of ads is likewise relevant. If they
are out of sight they will never get clicked on. All business
bloggers aim to have their site found to initiate what would
hopefully be a continuous business relationship.

Internet Marketing Advertising Options

By Sg-Web

As a webmaster of several quality sites, I often have to decide
how I want to promote them, especially when they are new. There
are several common options available to webmasters, but first,
let's try to understand more about why webmasters need to
advertise the sites.

Many new webmasters make the mistake of building new sites and
leaving it alone for the search engines to come and crawl it.
Assuming that the search engines somehow managed to find these
new sites and index them, chances are they will never be able
to rank well. And that usually means no traffic, and a website
is nothing without traffic.

In order to get some traffic, webmasters must advertise their
sites. There are a few options that I would like to discuss in
this article.

First, webmasters can buy banners. These are usually
prominently displayed across the top fold of the websites. If
the site is a popular site, it'll generate awareness over time
and also some traffic. The problem I have with this option is
that awareness is hard to measure and it may be hard to justify
paying for a banner month after month without being able to
justify the return on investment.

Another method of advertising that brings more predictable
results is Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising. PPC has been around
for years and is already a very much accepted advertising model.
This can take some time to find out what works and what doesn't
but when done right, conversions can be great. However, this
method can also burn up cash pretty quickly.

The third option is to buy text links. Text links can be bought
either through a monthly subscription or a one-time payment.
Many webmasters buy text links for search engine optimization
purposes. Usually, the higher the page rank, the more costly it
will be. There are warnings flying around recently that some
websites use a sneaky 301 redirect to fake a page rank.
Therefore, do not rely solely on the toolbar for the page rank.
I've found this tool to be most useful
(www.database-search.com/sys/pre-check-en.php). Also, when
paying monthly for links, try to select sites that have a good
chance of bringing in some traffic.

My personal favourite is to buy permanent text links or links
that require a one-time fee. Many web directories accept free
submissions. The more popular ones will charge a one-time fee
but this fee is usually an affordable one.

My recommendation is to have a mix of PPC advertising and text
links advertising. PPC advertising can bring in some initial
traffic when the site has not been indexed by the search
engines. This will help bring in some profits. Eventually, when
the search engines start sending organic traffic, cut down on
PPC advertising but do not stop completely. That's because PPC
still offers the best form of predictable earnings, which makes
planning easier. So start promoting those sites now, before your
competitors beat you to it.
