Adsense And Adwords Are Two Different Sides Of The Same Coin

By Dave Mallegg

Adwords are simply the keywords that visitors put into Google to search for information on that keyword or phrase. Your pay-for-click ad on the right side of the page that appears is called an Adword, because your ad appears when the visitor searches for information on that keyword.

When the visitor clicks on your ad, you pay Google (adword). If, when your visitor arrives on your site, they click on any ads you have on your site, you get paid by Google under a pay-for-click program called Google Adsense.

LOCATION OF YOUR AD

The best location for your ads on your own site would be the top right side. This is because the visitors' eyes tend first to look up and right, so you want the most important information in that location.

RESEARCHING KEYWORDS

The real goal is to obtain the maximum click conversion and not only the optimization search engine ranking. This is not only about high ranking to get visitors to click on your ad, but it is about your visitors later clicking on your ads that appear on your site. Therefore, you must chose keywords that relate the best to clicking on your ads and not just a high ranking. The highest paying keywords do not automatically guarantee you will make the most profit. You must test this and track the results.

IMPORTANT POINTS ON CONTENT

Your purpose of having your visitors click on your ads is always the primary purpose. The content in your article must be sufficiently relevant that it puts the visitor in an emotional state of mind of being inquisitive or in a buying frame of mind.

TYPE AND FORMAT OF YOUR AD

All ads on your website must match and conform to the general broad design, color, image and level of quality of your site. They must harmonize, yet they can still attract attention by "standing out".

BE CERTAIN TO AVOID THIS

When you have ads placed on your site and you get paid for visitors clicking on them, you must strictly adhere to the Google policy and general common sense to never have family and friends click on those ads just so you can get paid. This is the fastest way to have Google terminate you and likely never to able to deal with Google again. Google is watching for this, as it would destroy this valuable advertising concept for everyone. The pay-for-click is a fantastically effective method of getting your word out to visitors who are searching for your information.

These basic guidelines and rules will help your journey to use Adwords and Adsense to build traffic and profits in your chosen niche.

Writing And Blogging For Your Business

By George Meszaros

The key to online marketing is quality content. To get ahead of your competition, you have to be prepared to write well. The ability to write well is an advantage in terms of social media marketing and search engine marketing. In addition to written content, Video and audio are effective online marketing methods.

The best online marketers are experts at getting other spread the word about their products or services. Dedicate yourself to provide remarkable content to empower others to help you get the word out about your business. Take advantage of the inherent viral make up of Internet.

Write Articles

You can significantly increase your visibility when you write articles in your area of expertise. Be sure that your articles are informational. Don't waste anybody's time with commercials disguised as articles. The key to successful article writing is to provide value. People will notice when you have something of value to say.

Articles deemed valuable are; posted on article directories; e-mailed in newsletters, embedded in e-commerce site. In most cases, the author receives a link to his website. The links help in a couple of ways. One, they generate traffic to the site. Second, links help to improve your search engine results. The more links you have pointing to your site the better. Search engines view links to your site as a vote of confidence. The more links you have pointing to your site the more valuable your web site becomes.

You can contact website that might benefit from your articles, and offer your articles. Just ask that a link to your website and a one-line description of what you offer be included with the article. Articles offer an effective "viral" approach that can produce hundreds, or even thousands, of links to your site over time.

Practical Example: As you become a prolific author of articles related to your service you build reputation. Through your articles, you enable you customers to find your website indirectly. A business owner may find one of your articles while searching for marketing advice online. After she reads your article, she may click the link to your site from within the byline. Because you have already provided her with value, she is more likely to become a customer.

Start a Business Blog

Your business blog is one of the best ways to get others to link to your site. A blog is less formal than an article and more conversational. You have the power to make your industry interesting to your readers through conversational writing. Theblog is not about you. It is about providing value for your customers. If you offer outstanding content and regular industry comment, people are likely to link to it, increasing your site's link popularity. Remember, links are good.

Practical Example: When you blog you are elevating your status to expert level. People would rather buy from experts than sales people. Provide valuable content to your visitors, and they will spread the word. If you have a blog about fly fishing, your readers are more likely to buy from you than another business that simply lists fly fishing equipment on their site. In addition to becoming customers, they will recommend your business to others, in essence become your unpaid external salesforce.

By Chris Chew

With modern technology, the internet offers students many opportunities to study for online college degrees. Students can also find a wealth of information regarding their online education ambition, for instance like how to apply for college student loan, how to find the right online college degree program for a wide variety of other online education information.

Since many prospective online students are usually working adults, more and more people are turning to the internet to obtain a college degree education program, studying completely from the internet.

However, do be careful when you choose an online college to study with. Beware of fake college degree scams. What many students fail to do is to research the online collegess accreditation process. This is a vital process and is done to make sure that the online college you chose to study from is genuine and creditable.

Since the benefits of an accredited college degree are plentiful, potential students need to ensure that the online college they study with offers fully accredited degrees. An accredited college degree is an endorsement and recognition that you have received a certain level of standard and quality in your education.

However, in the online degree industry, scams abound. There are many so called "degree-mills" on the internet which promise that you will receive degrees in half the time that is normally taken to study for a degree and some even to go as far as to claim that you can earn a college degree even without studying or taking examinations.

The One Internet Marketing Lesson You Must Learn

By Titus Hoskins

Coming from a professional background in education I have always known the importance of information. How it can change and enrich one's life for the better. It's a general consensus that has proven itself again and again. So much so, that it's a given fact, information and knowledge can lead to the very good things in life.

However, it wasn't until I became a professional online marketer that I realized how effective information can truly be in achieving your goals. Even the smallest bit of marketing information can have life changing effects on those who put it into practice. The results have totally astounded me.

Not just once but every day.

I am constantly amazed how powerful the right information can be. As I acquire more and more knowledge in the Internet marketing field this fact is driven home to me each day. I still consider myself a novice even though I have been learning web and affiliate marketing for over seven or eight years now. The last two years as a full-time online marketer, but I am still surprised how information is the key to achieving online success. How just a few bits of knowledge can make all the difference.

It's mainly due to the nature of the Internet. The web has a way of amplifying and spiraling everything out of control. Whether it's the latest must-see video on YouTube or the latest Google SEO tip that becomes viral and is instantly seen and discussed by millions within seconds.

Ideas at the speed of light. Information at the click of a mouse.

I don't believe anyone can fully understand how powerful and effective the web can be unless you have first-hand experience with your own website and marketing. Where you can actually apply the latest marketing technique or SEO tip to see the results for yourself. Clinical evidence staring you in the face.

One tip or piece of information can make a big difference. Strange but true. It's the interaction this application of knowledge can have on your whole marketing system. Even just one solid piece of information can change everything.

It's the butterfly effect on steroids. Powered to the nth degree and fueled by the endless connections of the web. Information becomes a tangible force in its own right. One that should not only be respected but more importantly, used to accomplish your own goals.

Information and knowledge are your key sources for achieving success. No mystery there, but how many people actually apply it to their own situation? Limited few.

Anyone wishing to pursue online marketing, building websites, or just using the net to express their ideas should start first with acquiring as much information as they can get their hands on. Keep in mind, not everyone is chasing the almighty dollar, but for those who are after an economic return, obtaining information is still your best ticket to the good life. No matter what that good life means for you or your objectives in life, acquiring the right information will get you there.

Therefore, regardless of the lifestyle or pursuit you have in mind, you must make acquiring information and knowledge your first goal. Seek it out, don't wait for it to just magically appear. Befriend people who have the knowledge you're seeking. Be pro-active, learn something new each day. Consume information but don't forget to also process it. Use the information you acquire.

Never stop learning. It's the one lesson you must learn.

I hope you will make it a lifelong pursuit like I have done. Thanks to the power of the Internet the rewards and benefits just keep multiplying every day. Those rewards will be all the incentive you need to keep obtaining more and more information.

So teach yourself. Keep acquiring knowledge. Keep growing. Keep improving. Keep learning.

School's out but you're not. Not now, not ever!

Maximizing Your Online Income With Google Adsense

By Christoph Puetz

When it comes to making money as a publisher from Google Adsense, some webmasters have difficulties getting their ad displays right and therefore leave a lot of money on the table.Google Adsense is by far is the most popular contextual advertising program used by online publishers worldwide. Adsense has variety of revenue generating products starting from Pay per click ads, Adsense for search, referrals for Firefox with Google toolbar, or other Google products (a complete list is available when you log into your Adsense account). Many webmasters think that just copying and pasting the Google Adsense code into a web page will create a huge amount of money, but that assumption is a mistake. Here are some tips to increase your online income from Google Adsense.

  1. Make sure the ads that are appearing on your site are related with your current content. When placing the Adsense code into the page for the first time, it can take a while until targeted ads show up. If after 24 hours still not matching ads show up, you should look into section targeting with Google Adsense. Section Targeting helps Google to pick the right keywords on your website to deliver better matching ads.
  2. Keyword Density. Experiment with the density of keywords on your website. If you use the proper keyword density in your content, your website will attract better targeted ads. the result will be that your visitors are far more likely to click on a relevant ad.
  3. Use Online Keyword research tools like Overture Keyword Tool, http://Wordze.com, the Google Keyword Research Tool, or Wordtracker to pick the best keywords for your website. The reason for this is that you want to get as many visitors as possible to your website. Keywords that are searched for often are good to have on your website. You will also need these keywords for link building and SEO so that your website ranks for those important keywords.
  4. Experiment with different ad formats and colors. No "one size fits all" exists when it comes to Google Adsense. Testing is needed to optimize your income. Try ads with borders and without, too.
  5. Embed your Adsense ads in your content. Use CSS to have the content flow around the ads as that can improve clicks to your ads significantly. Make sure that the font used on your website matches the font used by Google Adsense.
  6. DO NOT place any image near your ads to attract better click-thru's. This technique was allowed for a while, but recently Google Adsense updated the Terms of Service and by placing images near the ads you would violate the TOS. However, you still find websites out there that have not been updated to reflect this change. These webmasters are risking their membership in Google Adsense.
  7. Rotate Google Adsense Ads Colors to reduce common Ad Blindness. To prevent regular users from ignoring the ads, you can rotate different types of color palettes for your Adsense ads. The best way to do this is to use an ad or banner rotation software like OpenAds (formerly known as PHPAdsNew).
  8. Track your ad performance. Google gives you the ability to track ads by website or by custom channel. Up to 200 custom channels can be set up. Again, testing is critical for your success.

What Is An Affiliate Network

By Jonathan White

An Affiliate Network is a valve added online media program that provides services that include aggregation, distribution or many creative materials and campaigns that are used for tracking and reporting for the affiliate merchants and affiliates. For merchants, some these services can provide tracking, reporting tools, a payment processing and access to a large base of affiliates. These services can have one click application for new merchants as well as reporting tools and payment aggregation.

These networks are free to sign up but can be hard to find if you don't where to look. They aren't always called affiliate networks they are also known as marketing solutions provider or pay for performance network, cost per action advertising networks or performance based online marketing services company.

These types of programs can provide such services as Pay Per Lead, Pay Per Sale, Pay Per Action or Cost Per Action and Pay Per Click. Most affiliates allow anyone to sign up but there may a visitor site requirement. These companies may want a specific number of people to visit your site to make it worth it for them to give you some ads.

To begin making money from an affiliate program is to locate an affiliate program and join with the network or program. Most programs will give you approval right away so if you are approved then you will be shown a list of all affiliate programs that the network has available and then you can begin looking the hundreds of programs that are offered. You want to choose
the programs that have the best payouts. Find the ads that go with the content of your site and then choose the ads that have the best payment percentage.

Choose carefully, sometimes the programs that you choose may have a high pay out but they really aren't in sync with your content, you may not get that many clicks, but you may have a lower payment program that fit exactly what you are doing in your site but it may take longer to accrue a big payment.

If your site is not a product or service selling and you rely on adsense to make money then you want to choose wisely your affiliates. These do pay well when they get the traffic and the interest then people will click on the ads.

A Beginner's Guide To the Online Shopping Cart

By Lena Crossan

Want to launch a successful ecommerce business? Having an easy-to-use, reliable shopping cart is a necessity. But what many first-time business owners don't understand is that a shopping cart is only one part of the process. In order to upload a working site that makes money, you'll need a shopping cart and much more! Don't panic. I'll gladly take you through what's required to create a basic ecommerce site.

What Is An Online Shopping Cart?

The term "online shopping cart" is mistakenly used when referring to the entire process visitors go through when reading product descriptions, adding an item to their virtual baskets, checking out and paying for their orders. That is only partially correct.

The shopping cart comes into play when a site visitor chooses to add an item to their basket. According to Wikipedia.com, "The software allows online shopping customers to place items in the cart. Upon checkout, the software typically calculates a total for the order, including shipping and handling charges and the associated taxes, as applicable." That's it.

Until your visitors add an item to their carts, and after they initiate payment, the shopping cart isn't involved. Those functions take additional types of software and accounts. Let me explain.

In the Beginning.

When a visitor types in your URL (also called a domain name or web address), he/she can view your website. The website is what delivers your pictures and product descriptions. It includes the design and any necessary programming to make the basic site function. Perhaps the site uses a content management system (CMS) to serve up your products in a logical way or it may
simply use basic HTML. Either way, once the site design is completed, you are now able to show your products to the world. But that's all. At this point, they can't buy anything. This is where the online shopping cart enters the game.

The shopping cart provides visitors with the ability to create a list of items they want to buy. It stores the items as the shopper continues to browse through your site. The shopping cart can calculate totals, show listings of what's currently saved in the cart and more. When a visitor has finished shopping, two other components come into play: a merchant account and a payment gateway.

Show Me the Money!

In order for a visitor to pay for their items, your site must be equipped with the ability to accept credit cards and the ability to process those cards via the Internet. This requires a merchant account as well as an online payment gateway.

A merchant account is provided by a bank or other institution. It allows you to accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and other credit cards as payment for purchases your visitors make. Generally, if you were a brick-and-mortar store, this would be all you needed. However, for ecommerce sites, you must have a way to instantaneously process the cards in real time via the Internet. That requires a payment gateway. Once you have all four elements in play (a website, an online shopping cart, a merchant account and a payment gateway) you can launch your ecommerce site and sell products or services.

Sound complicated? Not really. Because the functions work hand-in-hand, you can find companies that offer complete packages containing all four elements. That makes it simple for you to quickly upload your pictures and content and start receiving orders right away.

The Internet can be an exciting place to earn a living. Before jumping onto the ecommerce playing field, however, do your research. You'll want to find a reputable company to provide these all-important services. If possible, find one organization that offers all the services. Look for a business that has a proven track record of dependability and outstanding support before making your decision.

5 Keys To Make Traffic Exchanges Work For You

By Jon Roussel

One of the most inexpensive ways to generate traffic for your website is to use traffic exchanges. By viewing other peoples advertisements you receive credits that will be used to show your site to others who do the same.

With Traffic Exchanges you add your URL to the site, and then you start to surf all the advertisements that are in their rotator. After a set number of sites that you surf your site will be added to the rotation, assuming that your site gets approved. Surfing consistently is essential to make traffic exchanges work.

Traffic Exchanges do a couple of good things for you . One, they give you exposure to other peoples sites, You get a chance to see many other advertisements and sites and get good useful information, or ideas for other web sites you might want to start.

This will help you improve your ads, which is important to make traffic exchanges work for you.

If the traffic exchange you are using is high in the search engines than the more clicks you get on your site the quicker you will move up in that search engine.

Here are five ways to make traffic exchanges work for you.

  1. You may or may not be surfing to earn credits, but there are people who are looking at ads all day long and if you want to get their attention you need to do it quickly. So you need to design a web page that will capture their attention.
  2. Landing pages are the best way to grab their attention. Don't just advertise your website or affiliate sales pages.

By creating a landing page you get to be unique and can concentrate on features and benefits to put on your page.

  3. Capture names and email addresses first. This is really a goal in all of your advertising.
  4. By combining a landing page with a lead capture form you are utilizing traffic exchanges to the fullest. To get people to fill out the form offer a free report or something that would cause them to want to give you their contact information.
  5. Create multiple versions of each ad with different titles and descriptions. Check which ones are getting the most views and hits and then create more versions of those. One of the ways to make traffic exchanges work for you is to create a lot of effective ads. Make sure you have good headlines for your ads.

Most traffic exchanges are free and give the option to upgrade. If the traffic exchange has a lot of people surfing it may make sense to upgrade. Also, if you are pressed for time and have money to spend, upgrading or buying credits is the way to go.

Traffic Exchanges are just one way of using free advertising By having many ads with good headlines and surfing consistently, you can make traffic exchanges work for you.

Home-Based Business - Getting Started

By Scott Lindsay

Many home-based businesses are either sole proprietor or a general partnership. These are simplified methods of developing a business and can often allow the greatest flexibility in startup and business termination.

With a sole proprietor business you are the single business owner paying all taxes at years end. You will likely be required to obtain a business license and applicable permits.

With a general partnership a partnership agreement is generally developed. The partnership is dissolved when one party wishes to end their stake in the business. This type of business is developed when either two friends wish to start a business together or two family members. There are also limited partnerships, corporations and limited liability companies that can be developed, but for the sake of this article we will key in on the simplest forms of business ownership.

With most online business that operates as a home-based business there is not the need for an in-home showroom or customer visitation. In fact, many municipalities and or covenant communities do not allow the sale of items through a more traditional home-based business where items are actually sold out of the home to visiting customers.

Should your home-based business receive in-home business you would likely need to look at purchasing business insurance. Most homeowner policies will not cover loss if it is determined the loss was actually related to a business visit or transaction.

The income produced from a home-based online business is considered taxable under self-employment standards in the United States. This means that you will be responsible to manage the tax liability on your income. As mentioned above this can be managed when your yearly taxes are prepared. If you have a net income that exceeds $400, self-employment taxes will need to be paid. You should also know that the Internal Revenue Service pays particular attention to home office deductions so be sure you follow all guidelines if you claim your home office as a deduction in your home-based business because some things are deductible while others are not.

You should also make sure to keep very good records of all profit and loss. You can work with an accountant to discover the specific deductions you can claim on the business you have chosen to operate.

Tax time will be a bit more stressful with additional forms to fill out and information to have on hand, but this is a small price to pay for using your skills in the development of a home-based business.

The Origin Of The Species Of Search Engines, Part 2

By Gabriel Adams

As the internet grew in popularity, then exploded into a huge amount of data, search engines faced increasing challenges. As thousands of pages are added every day, and many of those are
changed on a daily basis, search engines have to constantly update their information regarding those sites. Part of the search engine race has been attempts to make the crawling more efficient and faster, so that the search engines can document new web sites when they come up. Some search engines download entire sites and keep the entire thing in its own hard drives.

When one thinks of modern search engines, the thing that most likely comes to mind is Google. It definitely wasn't one of the pioneers, since it only started to gain popularity around 2001. However, it grew insanely fast, and now has the majority market share by far of any search engine, with 74% of all searches in the world made by Google. Its popularity can be attributed to
the fact that it brought about many new and revolutionary techniques for listing pages. It considered factors such as popularity, original content, choices of past searches, how many
other sites link to the one in question, and more than 100 other factors. These brought the best results to the top of the page.

The success of Google not only affected the everyday user's habits, but also the development of almost all other search engines on the market. Search engines today spend their capital developing intricate algorithms to decide which sites belong at the top of the rankings. Other top search engines include Yahoo! Search, AltaVista, and Windows Live Search. Since there are so many choices working so efficiently to index the latest web sites and information, you can surely benefit from using them. You can use search engines to track people down, find out new information, and determine important marketing factors.

Hiring A Web Designer

By George Meszaros

It is very important to find a web design company that understands your online strategy. The company you hire must be dedicated to your business needs. Finding a company that is committed to your success can be challenging. Don't ever hire the first company you interview. Even if you fall in love with the person you speak with you should evaluate other companies. Don't make a decision until you have interviewed at least three design companies.

The company you choose has to appreciate your needs and not the other way around. You hire the web designer to help you create a website that helps you succeed online. The design is not about serving their ego. Their artistic ambitions are only of interest as long as they serve your needs. Don't agree to any technology unless they can prove how it will help you sell more, create more customers, educate your visitors, generate more leads, etc.

Make sure that the company understands your goals. It also helps if they understand your business. When you interview Web design companies ask to see if they know anything about your industry. Find out if they understand the trends in your market. Of course, they don't have to be experts in your area, but it helps if they have a basic understanding of your business.

If you have a service business you are going to have very different needs than if you were an online retailer with 500 products. Web sites for service businesses are usually very rich in content. For example, an accountant's web site may include a large number of articles about accounting advice or tax strategies. A website created for e-commerce is going to be focused on selling products. Such a site is going to be equipped with a shopping cart, a database driven backend solution, online chat, etc.

The functionalities you desire for your website is going to have the greatest impact on expense. A three-page web site that serves as an online business card is going to cost much less than a fully functional e-commerce site. A complex e-commerce site is going to cost significantly more because of the technology required.

The Battle For Website Traffic.

By R. Martin

Building traffic to your site is getting harder by the week. Wouldn't it be easier to let other people build traffic for you? You are thinking "But, THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE"!

Well, it IS possible.

It may be counterintuitive.

But, in fact, it's actually far EASIER than trying to fight it out for traffic peanuts.

What it boils down to is 1 simple FACT: They key to the success of all goods, services, websites, marketing, & traffic all lie in:

THE VALUE PROPOSITION.

In fact, this is they key to 90% of all OFFLINE businesses' success too. The best stuff rises to the top in ALL markets. People who are impressed by a purchase tell their friends. And they tell their friends. The chain continues. Let's take a look at the automobile market to show you an almost perfect example of this phenomenon.

Honda started importing cars to the United States in the 1970s. At first, the cars weren't as good as other models. But they kept at it, kept researching consumer tastes & preferences. And most importantly, kept improving their PRODUCT. Not with extra bells and whistles that only interest dorky engineers. But by offering real value that the consumer actually consumed.

People say Honda marketed better than the other car companies. I couldn't disagree more!

Why did Honda sell a TON of Accords last year? Because the cars rock. They sell for roughly the same price as their competitors. But, their QUALITY is off the charts!

Think about it:

Why would you pay $27,000 for a competitor's product that will break in 5 years, when you could instead, buy a new shiny Honda Accord that will last far beyond 120,000 miles. You will be happy, but, your social standing starts to take a hold.

You actually TELL other people how great your shiny new Accord is. How long it lasts, how nice it handles, & how much money you saved by buying a car that lasts twice as long as your last one.

You look better to your friends & they appreciate the information. This has been going on since the beginning of time.

The online world isn't THAT different than the offline world. Your website traffic is people. And links are made by other webmasters (who are people too!). If your content is awesome & there is a large volume of it on your site, people will LOVE to link to you. It's that simple.

Fact: People come out with sites in extremely established "competitive" categories that blow away the competition. Their Alexa rankings shoot to top 1000 in under a month. It happens all the time. Because their sites are awesome & people can't wait to break the news to their friends of this cool new site they found. That's how it works.

So what should you do...

Really develop your website's content. If your site is about mortgages, make it the #1 looking #1 functioning & #1 value producing site in your market. Make it a true category killer.

Make it a site where people love to comeback to & feel good about passing on. Stuff it FULL of amazing content about mortgage brokers, refinancing, and projected payments.

Put a directory section on there, but only approve the bestlinks online about mortgages. Add the best links yourself. Same with your article section: add 75 kick-butt informative articles about "How to save $238/month on your next mortgage" and more.

Get in depth & offer great content.

You WILL get linked to by partners, competitors, college professors (.edu links!) & more.

Offer the best stuff you can get your hands on, or write it personally if necessary.

Post great content with high excellent value. Surf the site yourself. Ask: Would you surf this site? Fix it until you would. Make it your homepage and don't quit until you are getting 500,000 visitors a day.

Financial Concerns With A Home Business

By Wonder Nyatanga

Part of running a home business is taking care of financial matters. When a person works for someone else the only financial matters they usually worry about is their own paycheck. With a home business, though, all the financial matters rest on the business owners head and it is the business owner who is responsible for making sure they are managed and under control.

Financial matters are going to include paying employees, handling customers transactions, shipping costs and operating costs.

Many home businesses do not have employees. If this is the case then this is not a big concern. However, if the home business does have employees then the best option is to go through a payroll company to have the employees pay handled. This will just make it so much easier to manage and help to avoid a lot of liabilities that can be associated with payroll matters.

Customers transactions are the bread and butter of the business. as such, they need to be handled carefully. There are many ways to mange customer transactions, but the easiest is to use automated software built into the business website. This will track transactions and handle all of the billing needs of the business.

Lastly, is operating costs. This is the one area that will remain largely with the business owner. The business owner needs to make a budget and stick to it. They should catalog all operating costs and make sure they are within the budget. The key is to keep records and to maintain those records.

The financial aspect of a home business is something that many home business owners never stop to clearly think about. They may figure they can handle it as it comes up, but it is smart to be prepared because messing up financially with business matters could spell trouble for the business.

Skills The Home Business Owner Must Have

By Wonder Nyatanga

Starting and running a home business requires a lot of skills. Being able to be success in a home business requires skills that allow a person to operate their business and to handle everything that can come up during the operating of a business.

One skill a new home business owner has to have is organizational skills. If a person is not organized then they will soon end up over their head in a lot of chaos. Organization is important because it will help a business owner to keep all paperwork and all business in a manageable position.

Another skill a business owner needs is creativity. While this may not seem like an important skill, it really is one of the most important skills. Being able to run a business requires creativity. A person has to be able to create a marketing campaign that will sell their business and that is impossible to do without creativity.

Running a business also takes some basic skills like mathematical skills. These skills will help to maintain the basic workings of a business. These skills will help the business owner to operate the day to day things about their business.

If the business is online then the business owner will also need some skills dealing with website set up and internet marketing.

Basically, a business owner needs a lot of different skills. They have to wear a lot of hats and to do a lot of different things during the operation of their business. All of these skills can help a business owner have an easier time running their business.

A business owner needs plenty of skills and these only touch the very tip of them. There are a lot of aspects of running a business that require a lot of different skills. A business owner needs to make sure their skill set is up to the challenge.

Free Article Submission Directory, And Article Submission Software

By Peter Nisbet

A free article submission directory is your free pass to the stars. If you write or purchase articles for your own website only, then you will be losing out on what the whole world of article marketing can offer you. Article marketing is probably now the most widely used traffic generation strategy on the internet and if you are not using it you will likely fall behind your competitors.

Article marketing is a strategy involving the submission of articles to online article databases called Article Directories, and these too are growing by the day. However, not all article directories are equal: more on that later. For now, let's think on what gains are to be made by submitting your article to a directory. This might be a piece of work that has taken you days to compose, or you may even have paid for it. Why, then, should you submit to a directory so that everybody can read it for free.

What you have to consider is why you wrote it. Why did you write that article? Was it to sell and make money from it? Unlikely, since there are a lot of writers better than you are that fail to achieve that. Was it to provide content for your website, perhaps even devoting a specific page to it as I have done here? That is the main reason for people writing articles.

True, good writers write articles to submit to article directories, but that is not the major use for them. Statistics show that most articles are written as content for web pages. So why? Why only write for your own web page? Why NOT write for article directories, when your article will be published on a number of websites that article directories, in essence, are? In fact your article will be published on a lot more directories than you submit to due the relationship between various groups of directories that interchange articles.

Don't you realise that you get a one way back-link to a web page of your choice from every directory that accepts your article? Not only that, but if a reader likes what you wrote, they might copy your article to their website and provide you with another one-way link. If you know anything about Page Rank and link density, you will understand just how important and valuable a link to your site without any reciprocation is in internet marketing.

So far, we have discussed links and Page Rank: we haven't even thought of the benefits of the links to your page web pages that readers can physically click on to visit your page. The traffic that article submission can provide is immense.

Here is my Number One tip. Write an article, or purchase one from an article ghostwriter. Make a few changes to it, or even purchase two versions from the ghostwriter, one for submission and the other for your website. Then submit the article to as many article directories as possible, and create a web page for your own version of the same article (that should contain some extra information).

Direct readers to that web page, and not only make your offer on it, but provide an opt-in form so that visitors can register for your newsletter or whatever you are offering in exchange for their first name and email address. It might all sound simple, but it takes some work. Once done however, it can be effective.

Internet Based Home Business- What Is One Of The Most Important Things You Need

By Jo Han Mok

When you have an internet based home business there will be all kinds of tools that you need to help you run your business. You will need a website for your internet home based business plus anything else that you find that will benefit your business. However, there is one thing that will help you become more successful than anything else.

What you will need is a list. Don't know what a list is? This is where you supply a newsletter or ezine to people for free and then they sign up for it. When they sign up they get put on your list to receive your newsletter. This can be more valuable to your business than anything else you will ever have. Let me tell you some reasons why this is so important.

First: When you are trying to do business on the internet you will have to gain the trust of your customers. This can be a hard thing to do because people can't see you or talk to you. Thus it will be very hard to know what kind of person you are and they will have no way of getting to know you to find out. You will provide your list of customers with a free newsletter that will help them learn how to market their business or something that would be of value to them. You also want to provide them with free tools, software or anything else that you think will benefit them. This will help them learn that you want to provide them with things that they will need thus gaining their trust. The more people can see that you care the more liable they are to buy from you or join your opportunity. This leads to our second reason why you want a list.

Second: When you have a business you will have products to sell or an opportunity that you need to build a team for. When you have a list of customers that already trust you they will take your word for it when you tell them that they need something. So you can continue to send them different products or opportunities for your home business. They will more than likely buy from you over someone else because they already know you.

There may be just two reasons here but they are very important reasons why you will want your own list. I could go on and on about this but you need find out about lists and why you want one by researching it. This can be your most important tool for your internet based home business. So educate yourself on it and start your own list now. You will be glad you did.

Bank Your Blog!

By The Webnet Group

Unless you have just awaken from a 20-year nap, you are aware of blogs... Internet 'web-logs'. Many of us use blogs to record our ideas and experiences, but a few savvy Internet marketers actually use blogs to generate genuine six-figure incomes.

Perhaps you have read the stories about people who have made a fortune from their blog; some of these entrepreneurs have become millionaires many times over because they seem to know
something that we don't. If you are like me, you have made an effort to monetize your blog with AdSense and some affiliate programs and possibly you've had some success. However, earning the 'big bucks' has escaped the vast majority of us bloggers.

Enter Rob Benwell, possibly the world's foremost expert on making money with blogs. Rob has only been on this planet for 22 years, but he has figured out what has stumped us old-timers - how to make his blogs throw off six-figures of revenue. If his name rings a bell with you it is because last year Rob authored a best-selling book entitled, "Blogging To The Bank".

As you know, marketing tactics and promotional methods change hourly on the Internet. It is no surprise that some of the information in Rob's first book (now one year old) is already dated and doesn't have the same significance today as when it was first published.

To address this, Rob has just released a sequel entitled "Blogging To The Bank 2.0", which covers a lot of new information, tips & tricks that can help you make a fortune with your blog.

You'll really like Rob's style, he doesn't consider himself a "guru", or talk down to those of us who are not overly technical. He has a clear concise style that helps you to understand everything he is teaching. Don't think this means this is mundane information because he delivers some real bombshells that will require you to read some topics a number of times to really "get it". When you do . . . you'll realize this fellow is a genius.

Rob covers everything you'll need to know to capitalize on today's changing environment all the while keeping the search engines happy. He covers everything from initial market research to his 5 blogging commandments that if followed, he claims will virtually guarantee success with your blog.

If you have a blog today, or are considering starting a blog, do yourself a favor and read "Blogging To The Bank 2.0". Like most things, there's an easy way to do it - or the hard way, and trust me, when it comes to making money with your blog, you do NOT want to take the hard way.

Link Building & Link Baiting Strategies For A Successful SEO Campaign

By Randy Zlobec

Link building refers to search engine optimization strategies in which one way back links to a website are created. By generating links from related and authoritative sites back to your own website you not only encourage extra web traffic, you increase your page rankings in search engine results pages. Some of the most successful link building techniques are article marketing, blogging, forum posting and paid advertising on related and high traffic websites.

The importance of one way links cannot be over emphasized. Reciprocal linking is now seen for what it is - a deceptive strategy. Also rapid, artificial development of one way links is suspect so it is far better to create your links gradually as one would expect of natural website and back link development. Organic SEO strategies will not trigger any alarms in the search engines and can be used in a focused and accelerated way to expedite the marketing advantages.

Article marketing is one of the most effective ways to build back links to your website. It is better to use a couple of high traffic article directories than to submit your articles to hundreds or even thousands of directories as this will create an enormous amount of duplicate content which is devalued by the search engine algorithms. It is also a mistake to put articles on your website that you have used for article marketing purposes because this would create duplicate content on your website. While you certainly want the benefit of back links to increase your search engine results page (SERP) rank you need to take into account other factors which can affect your SERP position such as duplicate content.

Blogging, forum posting and paid advertising on relevant websites can also provide excellent one way links to your website. You can write blog articles on your own blog as well as writing comments and articles on other people's blogs that link back to your website. Forums will generally not allow you to directly link to your website in the posting itself, however you can use a link to your site as a signature under your post which can be just as effective as an embedded back link. Placing paid ads on high traffic, related and authoritative sites can also provide one way links back to your website which is likely to both increase the number of visitors as well as your SERP position.

Link baiting is an indirect link building strategy in that you do not directly place the links but encourage others to link back to your site or, more specifically, a particular article or page on your site. Link baiting is achieved by writing interesting, informative, humorous or controversial articles that others are likely to link to from their websites or blogs. Ask yourself what information you can offer that will benefit others and tempt them to link back to the information. Controversy and disagreement are always popular, running an online contest is another link bait technique, so too is writing free how-to reports, providing free access to an online software program, or doing something new on the internet that is interesting or helpful and grabs attention. Writing or editing informational articles for online encyclopedias such as Wikipedia can also be an effective link bait technique.

Link building and link baiting are both effective search engine optimization strategies as well as traffic building techniques. If you strategically link one way from relevant websites back to your own, you will gradually improve your SERP rank as well as increase the number of visitors to your site and therefore your profitability. You cannot optimize your website effectively and ignore the importance of back links. It is becoming increasingly difficult to manipulate Google and other search engines by using artificial strategies so it is very important to create natural links in order to gain lasting benefits in terms of search engine results rank. Link building and link baiting are helpful and beneficial SEO strategies. If you use them wisely, they can significantly increase the positioning of your website on the search engines and consequently the ability of your site to be profitable and successful.

Build Website Linking Through Common Sense And Good Manners

By Gerald Brown

Good manners apply online as well as off. This is especially true when requesting website link exchanges.

Imagine you are at a social gathering where you have the opportunity to meet a lot of interesting executives connected to your line of business or work.

You are talking with a small group of like minded individuals and you are discussing a topic of common interest. Suddenly another guest joins the group and within seconds diverts the conversation to talking about himself, his company and why those in this group should work or do business with his company. The group soon breaks up disinterested at the aggressive individual.

The guy who selfishly butted in now looks for another little group to do the same again, with the same results - no one is interested, as he tries to dominate the conversation!

The better way for this executive would be to respect the others; by not being pushy; contribute to the conversation yet wrap his sales message within what he says. In other words, he is showing he is a good guy to get to know. This way he is building up credibility. The conversation continues and at the appropriate moment, name cards are willingly exchanged.

Requesting Link Exchanges

When you request a link exchange it is a bit like the above scenario -- most requests are similar to the aggressive guy, and just say: "link to my web site and you give me a link in return", without further explanation. That is Selfish.

Put yourself in the recipient's position as they ask themself:

* Do I know you and your site?

* Why should I exchange a link?

* Do we have common interest in our sites' subject matter so that we mutually benefit?

* Are we on equal footing - meaning, is your link page of the same Page Rank as mine? - This is important to know. Why? Because search engines (SE's) gives lesser credibility to links from a lower page rank, especially if the subject of the two pages are not related. On the other hand, SE's give greater weighting when page subjects are the same and highly focused.

All your link exchange requests should include:

- your site's main subject area

- your link page "page rank"

- be polite and cordial in your e-mail request (usually sent to the "webmaster" or as specified on their site, and

- that you have placed the reciprocal link already on your site first before making the request as a goodwill gesture (and remove it if the request is turned down).

Getting Indexed, A Little Patience?

By Erich Sweaney

Newbie's and Expert Internet Marketers all have one thing in common: Trying to get their websites indexed through the top three major search engines quickly. For larger websites the task is even more daunting, and there are a few small but effective techniques that can assist in the indexing process. Patience is a virtue and in today's internet marketing world patience and planning is a key.

Smaller one or two page websites, also known as sales pages, are the easiest and quickest to get indexed in the three major search engines almost anyone can generally succeed by just manually submitting through each search engines submission process. Websites with a considerable number of pages will often only immediately get their first page indexed which therefore requires small effective planning strategies and a little bit of patience to become completely indexed.

Effective Key Planning Strategies:

(1) Prior to submitting your websites to the search engines or establishing link partners which will cause the search engines to start indexing in your website. Start planning out the basic website structure so that search engines robots can easily flow through your website and index each page.

(a) Have an sitemap linked from you main index page that thinks through out your website.

(b) If possible, ensure that each page is linked together, not just back to the main index page. This is not possible depending on what type of website you have, the number of pages, or your website design and structure. But this has been a successful technique in the past.

(c) Build and submit a Google Sitemap.

(2) Test your websites design and structure using Google Sitemap Software such as SOFTplus GSiteCrawler (Freeware) that will try and index your entire website. If your unsuccessful building a index of your entire website, then further planning and design changes maybe in order to index your entire website. If the software can not index your entire website, how will the search engine robots index your entire website?

(3) Instead of manually submitting your websites, submit your website through directories and establish link partnerships. This will improve how often your website is crawled by the search engines and how fast your website is indexed. Also, when establishing link partnership and directories higher the Google Page Rank, the quicker your website will be indexed and how often your website is crawled.

(4) Lastly, Patience. The process the search engine will go through while indexing your website is: First, the search engine will have to find your website (Hence, establishing partnerships with high Google Page Rank), then crawling through your website and absorbing all the information contained, then ranking each individual page and finally your website will appear in the search engine result pages (SERPs).

The Lazy Internet Marketer Myth And Why It Can Keep You Poor

By Nikki LeRoi

Pssst!

Hey, you. Yeah, you. Come over here. I've got something to tell ya.

Did you know that last month I made $10,000 online doing practically nothing?

That's right. I'm a lazy bumpkin who hates to work hard so I came up with my own system of selling absolutely nothing that rakes in the cash like crazy. You wanna know how I did it?

Cool, I'll share it with you - for $49 bucks I'll let you in on my little secret. It's called the lazy bumpkins secret to making thousands online while sitting on my butt sipping tequila at the beach.

Come on, just fork over the cash and you can live like I do without lifting hardly a finger.

You want a Guarantee?

Ha ha. I guarantee if you're lazy like me, you'll love this system. Is it a deal?

Great.

Wouldn't it be great to find out that after you bought the lazy bumpkins system, that it really did work just like he said?

That sure would be wonderful, but of course, it's only a pipe dream. One of many hyped up pipe dreams that can easily be found online any given day. You see, there is no such thing as
a lazy way of making money online. This is a total myth.

However, if you bought into this myth, don't feel bad. It's often used as an effective sales tactic to appeal to people's desire to make easy money. Easy money is an enticing thought to many people who work hard at their 9 to 5 jobs, then come home and do more work around the house. Yeah, if only escaping the grind were so easy.

At your regular job, you are expected to show up, focus on the tasks you're assigned, and complete them to the best of your ability. You are expected to be there every day on time and stick to schedules and deadlines. For this you are compensated with a paycheck.

Starting an online venture is no different than what you are used to doing at your regular day job. You will need the same focus, organization skills and time commitment that you utilize every day. The only difference is that with your online venture, you are the boss. You are in control of how much time and effort you put into your project.

The more time you put in, the more benefits you'll get out of it. The less time, the less benefits. Because you are in control of your online project, you will have to spend time researching and learning how to do whatever you've chosen. Believe me, there's a lot to learn about making money online, and you cannot skip this step.

Once you've done the research, then you'll have to take action to set things up. Once you've set things up, you'll need to learn how to promote your project. Promotion is a crucial step that you must do in order to prosper online.

So you will eventually find out what those who've already jumped into the internet moneymaking pool know - be prepared to roll up your sleeves and work.

For those people who refuse to believe this, they will be constantly lured into buying various lazy way to riches systems that get them no where. They will scratch their head and wonder why they are not making thousands the easy way. Eventually, they will give up in frustration.

Of course, some of them will realize that the real lazy way to riches is to write a book (which takes work) about how you can lazily make thousands online by being lazy, and sell it to people who are looking for a lazy way to change their life.

Remember, lazy people are not looked up to or admired by society in general. I mean, how long would you put up with your lazy cousin who comes to stay with you until he gets on his feet but never seems to do anything but get on your last nerve?

Not long, huh?

So remember that the next time you are tempted to spend good money on something that promises you can make great money online by being lazy. Those that work hard get all the dough, while the lazy get what they put out - a big fat zero.
