Using Credit Cards And E-commerce On Your Web Site

By Peter Kenny

If you have a web site that you use for business, then you should think about setting up your site to allow people to pay for things using a credit card. If you can get your head around using credit cards and e-commerce on your web site, then you will attract more customers and make your business run more smoothly. Here are some tips on how and why you should use credit cards on your web site.

How to do it?

There are a variety of ways to set up credit card payments on your account. Merchants to use for this include Paypal and CCBill, although there are dozens of firms to choose from. Usually it involves setting up an account and then pasting the correct code provided into your web page. Then customers will be able to click on the button on your web site and send you money using their credit cards.

Good for impulse buyers

One reason why you should accept credit cards on your web site is that it suits the needs of impulse buyers. Someone might visit your site and see something they like, but if they have to contact you or use a lengthy payment method, they might be put off making a purchase. Impulse buyers like to be able to purchase things quickly, and accepting credit card payments allows them to do this.

Making your business international

If you only accept payments by cheque or money order, you might be limiting the customers that you can appeal to. If you allow payment by credit cards then you will make your business more international, because people because people will be able to pay using a credit card from whichever country they reside in. It will also speed up the process of payment, and increase the number of customers that you have around the world.

Methods of accepting credit cards

As previously mentioned, you can accept credit cards on your web site by using a third party merchant who will accept the credit card payment on your behalf. However, you can also accept credit card payments by opening your own merchant account at a bank or financial institution.

Which method to use?

The easiest and quickest method to use is generally a third party merchant, as they can be set up in a few minutes and have very little or no signup costs. However, third party merchants charge much higher transaction fees than if you set up your own merchant account with a bank. If you are dealing with large amounts of money over a prolonged period, it might be cheaper to open your own merchant account. However, if you are dealing with relatively few sales a third party merchant is a good option. Whichever method you choose, it really does pay to employ e-commerce on your web site and accept credit card payments.

The Essence Of Google's Pay-Per-Clicks Advertisement.

By Ejike Arinze

Ten years ago two brainy grad students from Stanford created what has become a household name synonymous with the internet. Anyone who has ever looked for information with the internet has heard of Google. It has become so popular that it has become more than a website, but it's a verb. Instead of searching for information on the internet, web-heads now "google" what they want. Not only has Google turned into arguably the most popular search engine in internet history, but it has also turned into one of the wealthiest, thanks to savvy marketing techniques such as adwords pay per click advertisement through Google.

How does this work exactly? Businesses seeking to reach a broader audience on a shorter marketing budget simply visit the adwords website through Google. They sign up through Adwords and fill out the advertising information. Then they wait. Anytime one of the qua trillion Google users' types in information relevant to that business owner's particular ad, the ad will pop up. If the information is not relevant, the ad will not pop up. Google contrived one of the most genius concepts with Adwords, however. Instead of a business simply paying for ads which may or may not work, the business pays for each click. Thus those who simply gloss over the business's ad will not cost the business anything. But those who inquire by clicking on the ad, those with the potential to become genuine customers, will be the ones the business pays for.

Furthermore, Google does not require a business to go into debt when people click like mad on its advertisement. In fact, the business can set a strict budget and bid for what they believe the ad should cost per click. Then Google will limit the availability of the ad according to the business's budget. Businesses do not pay when the ad simply appears. They pay when consumers click on the ad.

Some might wonder exactly how well Google's method of advertising has worked. Dozens of businesses attest to their successful marketing practices thanks to the pay per click method. This method has turned into one of the most viral marketing methods of internet marketing sales. Companies testify regularly to how much less this method of advertising has cost them and how much their business has grown because of this method. It's a no brainer for them to keep on advertising with Google's Adwords pay per click ads.

The essence of Gogole's Adwords pay per click ads depends on the popularity of Google. Currently, there's no problem with that. How often do we hear someone say, "I'll just Yahoo that when I get home"? Instead, we refer regularly to "googling" things, and we're not talking about how we look at them. Adwords is a form of e commerce marketing where companies have discovered that when they drop other avenues of marketing to focus on this route, their revenue goes up. As stated before, advertising with this method is a no brainer for those wishing to take their business to a global level.

Start A Work At Home Business - 3 Lucrative Business Ideas

By Jo Han Mok

Are you tired of your job and want to start a work at home business but don't know what to do? Here are three businesses that are hot in the market and easy to start up.

1. If you are just starting a work at home business this job would be simple, a virtual assistant. Many people who work at home do not have time to run their business and answer their phone and emails. A virtual assistant is their answer.

If you start a work at home business and become a virtual assistant you will do the same job as an assistant but without the hassle of having to go to work. You wake up, walk downstairs, and get working. This is a great business that is on the rise and should definitely be considered as one of your top choices.

2. Another start a work at home business that is on the rise is an eBay shop. eBay is a simple website to use but many do not have the time to figure out how to use it to get the most money for their product. If you master eBay and create a shop to sell other people's items, you can make a ton of money.

If you start an eBay shop you should charge the customer a certain percentage of the profit they receive for their item, somewhere around 10%. The customers you will see are usually going to be busy adults with no time to sell items on eBay or older adults who just do not understand technology.

If you do not want to have to deal with customers you could also create a specialty store. For instance, you could specialize in selling laptops. You would go around to stores or people and buy their laptops and then resell them on eBay, usually making a big profit.

3. Another start a work at home business that is doing pretty well, but not having many in the field, is online writing. A person could be starting a website and want to get traffic to there site but they do not know how to right good articles to get that traffic. A customer could then pay you to write articles on a given topic and you could write them articles that would then get them money.

This is a hard task to do, the hardest of the three businesses mentioned but can eventually become and easy job. If you learn how to write articles good and get a big cliental you could be making up to $15 or more an article. Also, if you get efficient at writing articles you could get two articles written an hour, making $30 an hour!

These are just three start a work at home business options you could choose from. They will earn you a decent amount of money, enough to survive on but maybe not live a life of luxury, and are easy to start up.

Article Promotion Tips And Traps

By Prakash Jain

A great way to get highly targeted traffic plus relevant one-way backlinks to your site is through writing and submitting unique articles. Submitting these articles to free article directories or other websites that accept article submission will reward your website with valuable visits and backlinks.

Your article submission will reap visitors, so make sure you keep your website content easy to read as well as relevant and useful to your viewers. When search engines decide who to give the highest ranks to, they look at and weigh a few different factors. These factors include links, but also content as well. Search engines have a tendency to place the websites with the best content at the top of the rankings list.

The whole reason to submit articles to directories in the first place is to generate a bunch of one way links pointing back to your site, which will in turn increase your daily traffic. Free article directories love your article submissions - if you give them an article/content they reward you with one-way links.

Make sure your articles are as effective as possible. Don't forget to put your name at the end, and take credit for your articles. Place the URL correctly in the resource box in order for it to get counted properly - you wouldn't want to be making all your submission efforts in vain.

Spend time when planning the short pitch that your resource box gives. Create a strong call to action so that people will want to click to visit your site - give them a good reason to click. If your resource box doesn't sell the idea of visiting your website or engaging in your offer effectively, some of the benefits of your article and article submission will be put to waste.

When writing the article itself, follow a few simple guidelines. Don't write in the third person narrative. Write the article as if you were directly talking to the reader. This makes it more personable, and will allow you to build a strong relationship with the reader. Give yourself credit when it's due, if you've accomplished something that is worth mentioning, do it. You'll want to create a positive image for yourself in the minds of the reader, you want their trust.

Always be sure to double check the links in your resource box. There's nothing worse than getting a great article out there only to find out that the HTML was coded wrong so the link is broken.

Get More Traffic From Article Submissions

By Prakash Jain

If you are reading this chances are high that you have a website with decent graphics and a great description of the latest products. You have likely spent hours tweaking your website to make it perfect and now all you are missing is website traffic.

You need to find a way to get more people coming to your website or you won't even have the opportunity to show your product to the public. Without traffic you basically don't have a business. Lucky for you being your own web traffic promoter isn't as difficult or time consuming as one might think.

Look online and you will see that literally thousands of internet entrepreneurs are telling about their amazing experiences with article submission. They describe how you can write an article that is relevant to a product you are selling, or under a general topic that is relevant as a way of web traffic promotion. If you don't have the time to write your own articles there are services that include article writing and submission for a great price.

The best part about article submission is that you will be given a small space in your article for a resource box which is where you leave you link and make a quick convincing title that is sure to get the traffic flowing. If your article is used it will generate further traffic for you since wherever your article goes, so does the resource box with your link. This is like free advertisement.

Anyone who has given this time consuming task knows that it isn't an easy one. In fact it can be quite a job even if you are writing ten articles on something that you love, followed by hundreds of one by one submissions to article directories.

There are services available that will write and submit articles for a fee, or you can purchase article submission software both of which will help you to increase your website traffic and search engine rankings.

There are many services that offer writing and re-writing services alone as well as only submission services. Some will charge you a lower fee if you are able to provide them with the articles that you want to be re-written. Article submission software will send out your articles to over two hundred different article directories.

One of the most efficient ways to get web traffic promotion done is to submit articles in your own words with your own link to be seen by thousands of people.

Boosting Your Pagerank With Article Submission

By Prakash Jain

The more links your website receives over time, the higher it's pagerank will prove to be. Since Google puts a lot of value on pagerank when it comes to search engine rankings, having your pagerank as high as possible should be a must-do on your website promotion agenda.

Article submission is a great method of building links back to your website, and thus pagerank. Many SEO professionals use artucle submissions as a strategic weapon in their web marketing campaign. The reason is simple: submitting your article to article directories builds a good amount of inbound links over time.

You'll receive links and traffic not only from the article directories themselves, but other places too. The articles you post can be syndicated by other websites which eventually leads to even more traffic and links for your website.

It's important that you don't copy content from other articles, this will render your article submissions pretty much ineffective. If you write your articles so they are 100% unique, then you'll see much better results.

Take care when creating your "About the Author" or "Author Biography". This small resource box is the path that leads back to your website, so make sure you plan it out well. Include at least two links back to your website and pages within your website. Make sure the anchor text are targeted keywords - they should be keywords people search for when they look for your websites topic. This will build your strength in that keyword, and thus help your search engine rankings and traffic.

If you don't want to write the article and submit it to countless article directories yourself, you can always hire a freelancer that will spend the time to do it for you. Make sure they do a good job though, you'll want quality over quantity. If webmasters pick up your articles to use as content for their own website, then you'll get even more links and thus an even higher pagerank.

Be wary when using article submission software for your article submissions. Compared to hand submissions, automatic submissions aren't as effective unless you are submitting to a massive amount of article directories at once.

Others would recommend a manual article submission strategy, selecting a handful of article directories and submitting their unique articles to them. Select article directories with a decent pagerank, your website will benefit from it. The manual submission strategy I feel is the best, as you can be sure you'll receive the backlinks when you submit the articles yourself.

Give Your Web Traffic A Boost With Article Marketing

By Prakash Jain

Are you having trouble getting a decent amount of people to visit your website? Do search engines tend to ignore your website and the pages within it? If your answer is yes to any of these questions, it might be a smart idea to think about using article marketing to successfully promote your web presence.

It's well known that writing articles and content is one of the top link building techniques around. It's also a great way to attract more visitors to your website, best of all it's completely free. The only real investment is your own time.

After you complete your article, you'll be glad to know that there's a ton of different free article directories that will glady take your article submission at any time. These free article directories can be found by searching for them on any search engine.

For your resource box, make sure the links back to your website are coded in HTML. If the links aren't live and working, the benefits of article submission will be ruined. Search engine crawlers won't count the links towards your website's link profile, and readers won't bother to take the time to copy and paste your link in the browser.

After you submit your article to a good amount of directories, your articles will publish after about 24-72 hours. Soon after the articles are published, various search engine spiders will crawl the article and take note of the backlinks at the end of the article pointing to your website. On top of making your link portfolio stronger with more links, the search engine spiders may even visit the link back to your site and start indexing your website's pages faster than before. This will give you more search engine exposure, and you'll start to see more natural search engine traffic.

Make sure you don't leave out any of the top free article directories like ezinearticles and goarticles. Getting your unique articles published by top free article directories like these will also boost your credibility. If people see you publishing a decent amount of high quality articles relevant to your website, then they will be more inclined to visit your website to discover even more information.

Other website and newsletter publishers might even pick up your submitted article, which will give you and your website even more relevant exposure. This is a huge plus for you, and will compound your traffic.

Since article directory exposure is free, it makes no sense why you wouldn't use it. Any kind of free web promotion you can get, make use of it. In the end, you will see the beneficial results and be glad you took the time out to make the submissions.

Social Bookmarking: Is Social Bookmarking Being Used Against You?

By Greg Haehl

You have probably heard a lot about social bookmarking lately. As a matter of fact, you can spend lots of time and effort today just to find out what Social Bookmarking is all about. Well, not here. I am giving you this information.

I have done the hard part of the research and found this to be a super way to get more traffic to your site. While social bookmarking is a good hobby imagine if you could replace the website option with blogs? There are thousands of blogs out on the web there is no doubt about that and the most popular ones will be very hard to find. The best news is, it's 100% FREE!

To demonstrate the differences between Social Bookmarking sites to normal search engines -let's talk about Google for example as a search engine and how it works compared to Social Bookmarking site such as Furl or Delicious. In any social bookmarking site -your screen will show a range of tags which are in different colors size and intensity which marks the popularity of the tag. These Social Bookmark sites provide a great means of sharing quality content sites -so start bookmarking today!

We all spend more and more time on the Internet - whether we're researching; looking for work; or just browsing for fun. If you are looking for a great blog to read in the morning then you will love the chance to find out the most popular blog via your favorite bookmarking site!Social bookmarks are usually public hence the 'social' and they also allow other users to comment on the links you have saved.

Social bookmarking saves uploading a bunch of urls to your domain or remembering to send them to your Aunt Sally before you visit on the off chance you'll need to remember that special something while you're away. I get a goodly amount of traffic from social bookmarking sites like technorati as well but I would call that site a business bookmarking site so I'm not going to mention it here. Check out
http://www.trafficwebsecrets.com/socialbookmarking/bookmarking_demon.html.

But remember; in the final analysis others will make the decision on whether your way of bookmarking is ethical and useful or spam. A good way to make social bookmarking more useful is to use the notes or comments fields when tagging pages. The simplicity of Social bookmarking websites allow you to save bookmarks online and Tag/Categorize them with keywords instead of saving them as bookmarks in the favorite's list of your browser: Put Social Bookmarking on Autopilot!

Get The Rankings You Want

By Ayat Shukairy

Where do you rank on the World Wide Web? It's not enough to have a website; you have to get ranked on the first page to get noticed. Otherwise, holding your position at number 28,432 on Google isn't going to do you much good. Check out some easy ways to improve your page rank and get yourself noticed.

Search engine optimization

Search engine optimization (SEO) ensures that your website copy is written and structured in a way that improves chances that your website will be found when someone performs a search. For example, if your company sells insurance, you'd use words or phrases such as life insurance, insurance quote, insurance agent, or home insurance.

Content

Write articles that grab the interest of readers right now. Include case studies and whitepapers on your site that will give your visitors are reason to always come back. Or even check out what's going on in the news and be there first to report changes that impact your industry. For example, if you sell mortgages, be the first one to report the drop in mortgage rates. You'll generate a lot of traffic and increase your ranking. Remember, time is of the essence. If you find out something new and hot, you should write about before your competition does!

Search engine spiders are looking for sites that are periodically updated with rich content. Do not offer content that isn't useful. Some people try to place content that is rich in keywords but doesn't offer the oncoming traffic anything beneficial. Low traffic will equal lower rankings with top search engines. The idea behind rich content with specific keywords is that because you keep posting content, soon you will be ranked within the search engines for specific words. So, when I post articles about the different insurance rates and options, etc.; when an on-line visitor is searching for this info they will land on your site and may become potential clients.

Content must be used to provide new and interesting information that your reader wants to know about, offer helpful tips, or solve a problem. This content will get you link-backs which are excellent for driving traffic. You can also post articles through authentic submission sites, and that will also generate a lot of traffic. Many companies publish with different online magazines etc., not only to prove their expertise but also to gain more traffic linking to their sites.

Offer resources

Offer resources that will help your reader. For instance, if you are an insurance agent, and you want to attract new clients, offer a comparison chart of all the insurance agencies in the area so your user can make an objective decision. At first, it seems like the insurance company is driving business away that way. Not so. If you offer your users resources that benefit them, they will come back for more when they are searching again.

Link it up

Linking to other websites is a great way to increase your page ranking. Linking to other websites raises credibility in the eyes of the search engines. Who should you link to? Provide links to websites that offer a similar product or service as you do, or websites that are industry related. A spa can link to its beauty suppliers, for example. Ask them if they will provide a link to your website, and remember to offer to link to theirs in return. You can also submit articles to directories or credible article submission websites to gain links. Good articles and resources will get you bookmarked and potentially linked to by other users.

Include a site map

Generate a site map that links to every page in your site. Search engines like pages that can be accessed easily, so make sure your important pages remain in the first or second level.

Make changes

Every month or two go back and update or make changes to your website. If you let it become stale, the search engines will toss you out like yesterdays news. Update it to generate new interest. Another great way is to add a daily blog. This will ensure that your content is updated daily and stays fresh.

Live bookmarks

Updates happen all the time. A live bookmark keeps track of updates and lets you know that information has changed, rather than you checking to see if websites have made additions. By providing live bookmarks, you are increasing your traffic and ranking because people will come back to you sooner, and more often.

RSS Feeds

Create an RSS Feed. RSS or Rich Site Syndication is a file format used by publishers to make their content available to others in a format that is universal. RSS is a way to publish content and update it in real time. This gives the user the opportunity access information through an RSS reader.

Targeted headlines

A clear, targeted headline will nudge your ranking a little higher. Use large text and words that relate to your website. For example, if you are a content developer, you could write a headline like: "Ten Quick Tips For Killer Copy."

Having Your Home Business Network And Building It

By Margriet Boogaard

Once you have a home business going, you still have the most important job of all to accomplish. The job of building your network of customers and/or clients. Without a network of contacts, you will not have any reason to have a business, will you? It doesn't matter what kind of business you have chosen because in every business, whether it's a product or service, there is a need for customers/clients. There is no business, online or off, that can survive without the benefit of networking. Even if you are a service provider of a creative nature, you need to network to assure that you will constantly have those who are interested in buying what you create.

For some people, the idea of networking conjures up the idea of going door to door or making phone calls to people they don't know. But that is not the idea at all. In fact, the best networking tool is providing good service so that your customers will refer others to your business. Word of mouth is always a better sales tool than any other type of networking that you can do. Of course, even though referrals are your most effective network tool, that doesn't mean that it is or should be your only tool.

Even if you have referrals, you need to do some networking when you expect your business to be successful. And not to forget to continue to maintain success. It doesn't mean that you have to get on the phone every day and contact people. Nor does it mean that you have to constantly surf the Internet to find others who are interested in what you have to offer. However, you do need to take time on a regular basis to perform networking activities. It may vary from contacting referrals to simply promoting your website.

Because of underemphasizing the value of networking in many respects many new businesses are doomed to fail before they are even out of the planning stages. Choose to network for your business is not the issue. But if you expect your business to succeed, you have to promote it. Do not be fooled into thinking that once you have your client base, you no longer have to promote your business. Because if you accept that line of thinking, you will not be in business for very long.

Customers are fickle, so they will not always buy goods or services from you. Have a backup plan for those times when "regular" customers decide to utilize the services of another provider is a necissity. Unless your product or service is unique, which is unlikely unless you are an inventor, people will go where they find the products or services they want at the price they want to pay. Always be prepared for these slow times by continually networking for new customers.

Internet Based Business Opportunity: The Skills You Need

By Wonder Nyatanga

Are you interested in an internet based business opportunity? If so, you may be well on your way to making big time money with a career that is quite fulfilling. But with that being said, you need to know what it takes to make the most out of your internet based business opportunity. The fact of the matter is that there are certain skills that you will need if you want to take your opportunity from finish to end. The good thing is that even if you do not have all the necessary skills right now, with enough hard work you can learn what it takes over time.

But first things first; you need to know the skills that will help you to take your internet based business opportunity to the next level. While this is not the same across the board, there are some basic skills that will point you in the right direction. Three of the more important ones are listed below.

1. You need to have the proper level of technical knowledge in order to get started with an internet based business opportunity. This is not to say that you need to be an expert, but the basic technical knowledge is needed. This includes the ability to access the internet, browse for the proper information, tweak your sites as necessary, etc. While you can get help with the more complex issues of an internet based business opportunity, you need to have the basic knowledge to get the most out of any internet based business opportunity.

2. Just because you are going to be doing business online does not mean that you will never have to speak with other people; this is a common myth. Sure, an internet based business opportunity will allow you to avoid some communication, but this will not be the case for very long. Even if you do a lot of business via email you will find out soon enough that making calls and maybe even meeting with people face to face is necessary.

3. In the early stages of an internet based business opportunity you will need to wear many hats. So as you can imagine, the ability to multitask is very important. There are some days when you will have to speak with clients for hours on end, and others where your main goal will be to market your business. Everyday will bring something new, and being able to adapt to meet these needs is imperative to your success.

These are three necessary skills that will help you to succeed with your internet based business opportunity. Remember, even if you are behind right now, you can learn what you are doing along the way.

Anatomy Of Today's Home Office

By Tammy A. Borges

No longer are the days of the cramped quarters, make shift desks or working at the kitchen table acceptable for home offices. Home offices are now well planned integral parts of the design and remodeling process.

With busy lifestyles & tele-commuting becoming more prevalent, home offices have almost blossomed into a necessity. They have become as adaptable as kitchens to a families lifestyle.

Choosing Location a Priority

Privacy, functionality and versatility play a large role in the location. The space must also afford the user design freedom to create the best working atmosphere.

This is such a personal choice as everyone works and organizes differently. Much time should be spent on the personal side of this space.

Moms; The Exception

One exception to the separation of the home office is for that of the working stay at home mom. In many instances, newborns and small children not quite ready for school have to be watched as mom works.

This type of office can also be introduced into a remodeling project. It takes a little more creativity, but it can be done.

A few popular areas are within the kitchen, bedroom or family room. This type of home office does present problems though. The obvious being that it is very difficult to separate work and home activities.

That said, the alternative to working outside the home and having children go off to day care is just not that appealing a choice for many moms.

Technology and Lighting

Lighting and technology will also play a significant role in the final design. The lighting package should consist of several different types including natural light if at all possible.

Nothing can hurt the appeal to use a home office more than improper lighting creating a dungeon affect.

The space should have general lighting as well as task specific and accent lighting. The accent lighting can be used to show off favorite works of art, educational achievements and family photos.

With continued advances in technology, every effort should be made to accommodate present day structured wiring. This will allow for the most flexibility and expansion possible in the future.

Faxes, printers, pdas and blackberrys have all become a necessity to today's home offices. The ability to integrate and synchronize multi devices has become a great organizing tool for many without a support staff.

Combining Maximum Organization with Beauty

Organization of the space itself should not be limited to some generic metal file drawers and boring bookcases. Custom layouts including wood front multi-functional file drawers as well as cabinetry designed to hide equipment and maybe even a refrigerator should be considered.

Faxes and copiers are easily stored on roll out shelves within the cabinets for an uncluttered look. Multiple workstations setup for computers and adequate writing surfaces are a necessity.

Design Style and You

It is easy to introduce ones personal touch and design preferences into a home office. Independent from the rest of the home, the users' personality should sing out giving more desire to use the space.

A preference to design style and colors of the user should not be driven by the overall house decor and style.

Questions to Get you Started

Consider the answers to the following questions before designing your space.

1. Who will be the main user?

2. Is the user(s)left or right handed?

Note: If this space is a multi-user office and space is limited this could dramatically affect the layout.

3. How much space does each user require?

4. What are each users privacy required?

5. What equipment will be required for each user?

The answers to these will help you with some of the key decisions before you get started.

Avoid Being A Dot-bomb

By Mark Walters

There is very little difference between a dot com success and a dot-bomb is a mixture of several elements taught in grade 9 business courses. Most of the reasons e-commerce businesses fail are amazingly obvious, and commonly overlooked. Of course, hindsight is 20/20.

The first step, and the defining factor for many businesses is, how do we define "e-commerce success"?

There are some common answers:

- The website needs to make a profit

- The business needs to meet the owner's income - passive income - goals

- Who will pay for the product or service?

- Why didn't the visitor buy the product or service from another website?

The last two factors are vital to any e-commerce business success. Not everyone who visits a website want to buy the product. However, thousands of people who never find the website want to buy the product. The key is to find out how those people search the web, what forums they participate in, what newsletters they belong to, where they have their 'private space', and how can you meet their needs.

Customer Service

The #1 reason why e-commerce businesses fail is because the business owner believes that customer service is not important in an ecommerce business. Nothing is farther from the truth. Online customers have a choice. They can buy a product from the guy in their forum or who visits their myspace site, or they can buy from a perfect stranger who cannot be contacted.

Customer service in the www world is built on communication. Free chats, answering questions in forums, holding workshops, free information in blogs, newsletters, and even teleconferences are just some of the ways that people come in contact with the web owner.

There is an unwritten rule that 'there are no returns on the net.' That is why communication is so important. Most e-commerce businesses are not about the product, the information, the or the service. It is about the relationship between the business owner and the customer.

That is why sites like www.myspace.com, www.youtube.com ,

www.communati.com and other large communities are so successful.

Image

Image is part of the customer service. The image shouldn't be condescending or 'I have it all and you need to buy it.' Instead, it should be 'I figured this out and I'll share my information with you.'

The design of the website must look and function with a professional edge. That is why many ecommerce sites are building their sites on mambo.com or Joomla.com platforms, using professional templates. There are other Content Management Systems that help web owners manage their content, forums, blogs, and chat rooms, but these two are the most popular, and easiest for beginners to use.

Target Audience

Most Dot Com utilised the latest technology, built the best websites, and forgot to tell their target audience how to use the site. All sites should have several navigation paths that let users find their way around.

They should also include a FAQ with basic and advanced questions. A full time business could also employ a live chat, or a video tutorial that will help users learn how to use the site. Always include a site map that has direct links to important pages in the site.

The next element should be 'instant' samples. This doesn't need to be a part of the product, but it can be power point presentations. In fact, one strong sale's tool is a MS movie maker slide show of the content in an article, or a power point presentation. This gives extra 'value.' Also, the audio features make it possible to add streaming audio/podcasts to the website adding extra value for the visitor.

However, don't use features that some people do not share. A blatant example of web features that limit users is Javascript and Macromedia Flash. It is also important to make sure the website works in both IE and Firefox. Most of the people in the world do not use Internet Explorer, but instead use Fire Fox.

Payment Gateway

The next factor that needs to be addressed is the payment gateway. Most people are afraid of entering their credit card information into a website. That is why www.paypal.com and
ebay stores are so popular. The webmaster can assure their clients that their information is secure and their money protected.

This is another way that an ecommerce business can put their customer's needs first, and improve customer service, while improving their chances of success.

Customer Power

Ignoring the customer is the number one way to loose future sales. Customers are one of the most powerful marketing tools. Customers tag good websites on technorati and digg. They talk about them in their blogs. They suggest favorite websites and services while chatting with their friends. A happy customer will spread the word ten times faster, and farther, than a $10 000 Pay Per Click campaign.

Learn how to master the skill of web-based customer service. Learn how to make your customers think that your only reason for running a business is to solve their problems. Last, learn to become part of the web community, and you'll protect your business from becoming another dot-bomb.

Avoiding Home Business Scams - 3 Easy Steps

By Robert Saville

Over the past 10 years or so the home business industry has literally exploded. As the home business industry approaches the $500 billion mark scams are popping up everywhere. Unfortunately, more and more people are falling victim to these scam artists and as a result vowing never again to try and realize their dreams of working from home. People seem to be living by the old saying, "scam me once, shame on you. Scam me twice, shame on me." Once a person has been scammed there is a natural thought process that warns maybe all home business opportunities are scams. After all, almost everybody knows somebody that has lost money in an MLM scam.

If you were to do an online search for, "home business opportunities," it would take you a couple of days to read all the ads. Most of which are either misleading or just outright lies. It seems almost impossible to figure out which ones are legitimate and which ones are scams.

However, there is a way to sift through all the scams to find those little nuggets that can help you be well on your way to making money from home. Here are a few tips that can help you avoid scams and find the real winners.

1.Most scams are never "upfront" with explaining how you will actually make money. Most ads will say, "no selling, no phone calls, no work," as if they want you to think money is going to fall out of thin air. Always remember, no one is going to make a dime until some sort of product or service is sold.

2.Most scams do not offer any type of support either by phone or email. You will need help getting your business up and running on the right track. If someone has developed a really good business model they will be glad to help you to succeed.

3.Here is the biggest tip off that you are about to be scammed. Do they offer a no questions asked, money back guarantee? If not, stay as far away as you can get. Any good business developer knows that no business appeals to everyone. If they truly have confidence in their business model, they have nothing to lose by offering you a full guarantee.

Following these few simple steps can save you worlds of time and give you the confidence you need to move forward. Don't let a bad past experience keep you from accomplishing your dreams and goals.

How To Work A Joint Home Based Business

By Roxanne Greenidge

Occasionally a home-based business is not just something a mother does to spend time with her kids. It can be a thought, a husband and wife grows in order to have something that they can do together. How great they can work together depends upon the strength of the marriage and the couple in general, because few people can work together and live together at the same time.

However what kind of business is usually that of a couple? Men are not characteristically the in office type of people, except they come from a managerial background. It is more likely to find a married couple working in the construction or remodeling business with the husband doing the work while the wife handles the accounting and paperwork end of the business. Additionally, business that is becoming more popular with husbands and wives is that of operating a web construction and hosting business. Reasonably often what occurs in that kind of business is that one of the team works on the website construction, while the other team member will employ writers to write the content for the customers' sites that they construct.

It's important to keep in mind if you are deciding to operate a business with your spouse that it means you will not have any time away from each other, particularly not if the business is one that is done solely in the home such as accounting or other kinds of computer based businesses. Numerous people are even working at home today as credit card processors, data entry clerks, secretaries, and even lawyers. The opportunities for working at home have increased substantially with the introduction of the internet, and with gas being so high, more couples are opting to work at home together. Of course, you have to be alert of possible problems that can take place unless you separate the business from the personal side. If you are working with your spouse, you should work as if he or she was just any other business partner rather than your spouse. Working together in a professional aptitude will help keep the premise of spending all day and all night with your spouse.

Cooperation can be quite satisfying as long as you work with each other and not against each other. No one should be entirely in charge unless you choose to separate duties such as
the actual project work and the office work, and no matter what you do with division of duties make sure it is agreed upon by each of you. Make your home business enjoyable instead of allowing it to breakdown the marital union. Learn to work together as a team, and you will achieve what many couples don't: making your business an enormous success without damaging the relationship.

Local Or Global E-commerce Business

By Mark Walters

One of the first decisions an e-commerce business owner needs to decide is whether they will experience more success as a local or a national business. There are some e-commerce businesses that make millions of dollars in the local market, that would make very little in the global market.

Dating sites, entertainment websites, B2B sites, and Palliative care networks are just a few of the businesses that can reach unimagined success if they keep their business local. One of the biggest mistakes that most e-commerce business owners make is believing that every web based business must be global.

Choosing the wrong arena can destroy a businesses potential.

Choosing the right business can spell unparalleled success.

Marketing

The final primary blunder most ecommerce companies make is poor marketing. The over anxious and ambitious business pours money into all kinds of irrelevant marketing areas. Even down to paid listings in Search engines - which are totally useless because the first time a search engine finds your link, it indexes your site.

Most of this advertising is not even presented to the population of the country to any relevant degree. It is amazing how many Pay Per Click advertisers pay for clicks to China or South America because that owner has an English section on their website. So, an ecommerce site is paying clicks for visitors who can never buy their product, let alone pay the exorbitant shipping fees involved.

Even spamming all the websites with similar content will not help. For example, a website that sells romance books does not want to appear on a romance writing website, or a dating website, but they do. This is because PPC advertising matches websites and advertisers who share keywords, not because they have similar interests.

To a search engine, romance - dating, and romance - novel, are close enough.

Knowing where you are paying for advertising, and who is seeing the advertising, is important for both global and local businesses. However, a local business will experience much less waste.

A business on a budget should consider staying local. The likelihood of every advertising dollar reaching a potential client is much higher with local businesses.

Customer Power

Word of mouth is great marketing. The more global an e-commerce business, the less customer power they have. A local business with a mailing list of 200 clients who are talking about the business is more powerful that the same business with clients in Australia, Canada, China, The United Kingdom, and areas like Malta.

Customer power does have a monetary value. It can launch a business that doesn't have enough money to run a large advertising campaign.

The global business will need to invest an incredible amount of time to build the same customer loyalty base as a local business can build rather easily.

Income Bursts

The net fluctuates. Your business can be the top of the search engines one month, and completely off the scales the next. Your site may have 10 000 inbound links this year, and only 2000 next year.

Your product can be unusual and hot now, and over marketed in five months.

Global businesses also need to deal with shipping costs, slow service, country boundaries, and other concerns can make shipping difficult and slow.

A global business should expect to make money in short bursts. They may make $10 000 this month, but they will only make $1000 next month. The local market is less volatile.

Expanding

An e-commerce presence can expand the potential customer base to several million. This may look attractive, but the competition is vast. The local market may not have any competition, while the global market may have 200 000 competitors fighting for each customer.

That said, global e-commerce markets are less affected by economic climates. Australian e commerce is experiencing above normal financial returns from US and UK orders. China is starting to open up. The US market is loosing its appeal, while the number of phishing and fraud sites in the UK are turning people away in droves. Despite that 85 million dollars are spent on the Internet every day.

Social Network

The biggest mistake that many ecommerce businesses make is by building a 'brochure' style website. The days of a 'web presence' are long gone. Now 'social networking' is the way to succeed. Social networking is the practice of becoming a real person on the net.

It is not selling, or getting your product out there. It is the task of getting on a website or blog like www.communati.com and www.writingup.com and becoming a real person who can be trusted.

Then, let the people in your network find their own way to your buy-now page. It is also about collecting names. The most important aspect of meeting people on the Internet is to collect names that can be used to build a newsletter or marketing campaign.

Do not try to sell these people. Instead, give them information and keep them posted. This will keep them 'connected' until the day when they are ready to buy.

The decision to be local or global depends on the money available for advertising, the time invested into social networking, and whether the business owner needs a steady income or can manage some dry times while they wait for big payouts.

The Key To Creating Headlines That Sell

By Robert Greenshields

E. Haldeman-Julius never wrote a book, but he knew how to sell them. He sold literally millions of books in the 1920s. If a title didn't sell over 10,000 copies a year, it went to a place in his office called "The Hospital," where Haldeman-Julius gave it a new title. It the book didn't break through with the new title, it went to "The Morgue."

One of his books was first called Art of Controversy. It sold less than the 10,000-copy minimum with that title. Haldeman-Julius resurrected the book as How to Argue Logically, and sold over 30,000 copies. The contents of the book did not change. All that changed was the title - and its sales figures!

Another successful patient in his "hospital" was a book that sold only 3,000 copies when released as Patent Medicine. Haldeman-Julius simply added one magic phrase, and he found that The Truth About Patent Medicine sold a perfectly respectable 10,000 copies.

In fact, the phrases, "How to." or "The Truth About." have proven to be consistent bestsellers for marketers. Other winning phrases are, "The Facts About.," "The Key to.," "The Story of.," and the all-important question, "Do You.?"

No matter what you're selling, the most important part of your copy is its title or headline. Another legend of marketing, John Caples, wrote, "On average, five times as many people read the headline as read the body copy. Therefore, unless your headlines sell your product, you've wasted 90% of your money." He went on to say that your ad should offer a clear benefit to the reader, right in the headline, such as a "whiter wash" or "more miles to the gallon." The content of your copy may be stellar, but if your prospect never reads it, where does it get you?

Today, some copywriters consider it hip to use clever headlines that make the reader guess at their meaning. If that's your purpose, then so be it. But if the purpose of your marketing is to sell your product or service, forgo the trendy and tell your reader why they should continue to read and buy from you.

The magic phrases first discovered by Haldeman-Julius worked well, because they told readers exactly what benefits they'd receive from his books. They would learn to argue well, possess the truth about medicine, or get the facts they wanted.

Although short and simple is best in advertising, a long headline that really says something is much better than a short one that says nothing. One of the most famous headlines of all time was written by John Caples for the U.S. School of Music: "They Laughed When I Sat Down at the Piano - but When I Started to Play." You can adapt this ad to your own uses. It's still being used effectively today.

Or follow the example of master copywriter David Ogilvy, who wrote out his headlines and practiced them on friends and family. He's famous for this still-famous headline, "At 60 miles an hour, the loudest noise in the new Rolls Royce comes from the electric clock." It was hugely successful and more than rewarded Ogilvy for the 104 other headlines his loved ones auditioned, before he came up with the winner.

You can use the wisdom of these marketing greats in your business today, no matter what your field. Try out your headlines on those around you. Remember to make the benefit clear to your readers. Play with Haldeman-Julius' magic phrases in the title of your articles, reports or ad copy. With practice, you'll come up with your own magic phrases that sell.

Tips On Blogging For Dollars

By Seth Willis Jr.

After you've made the decision to set up and create an ongoing blog for your AdSense revenue, make sure you stay up to date on trends and articles that will drive traffic to your site. It's easy to fall into the trap of reporting and blogging on outdated material, and today's readers need timely and newsworthy information so that they can stay excited and eager to read your work!AdSense advertising will be effective only when it is attached to a worthwhile blog or site. Make sure that when you're blogging for dollars, it's worth your effort and time.

Some key things to remember when you are blogging for dollars include:

Choose the right keywords. Make use of Google's and Yahoo!'s keyword selector tools and get comfortable with the scope and subjects that are popular. Blogging is much easier when you are knowledgeable and confident about a particular subject.

Target your site to a single topic, and branch out. It's easy to start to take in too many different subjects, and this will only confuse your readers. Choose an industry that interests you, and slowly evolve and develop the site to introduce additional and relevant information.

Don't click your own ads! This is a big mistake for your budget, revenue goals, and analysis of how well your site is doing. Spend time promoting your site and driving traffic in other effective ways.

Don't include popup ads on your site. Web visitors find this a nuisance, and they may even leave right away if your popup ad appears more often than not!

Don't pull any ad-clicking tricks. There's no need for hiding an ad, or making sneaky requests when providing information. Keep it clean, direct, and open; your visitors will appreciate it!

Use RSS feeds. This is a great way to encourage people to keep reading your blog, and will help you drive traffic with much less effort.

Promote and submit to multiple sites. Make sure your blog topics and content are available to others; try e-mailing them to people you know, promoting it on discussion boards that are topic-relevant (make sure to stick to the moderator's rules), and send it to the major search engine directories if you can.

Use metatags. These are becoming more popular with the increase of social networking sites that aggregate information online simply by using tags to describe the Website, blog, or piece of information. By making sure you have many metatags included in your blog's description and header, you can increase the chances of exposure.

Use free tools, such as Keyword Digger (http://www.keyworddigger.com/ ) and Google's Traffic Estimator (https://adwords.google.com/select/TrafficEstimatorSandbox) to calculate specific keyword costs and popularity.

Analyze your results! It's important to make a process or system to calculate and analyze how well your keywords and specific blog sites are doing. Try doing this on a weekly or even two to three-day basis. Use Google Analytics to help you create your best reports and features that you may need (http://www.google.com/analytics/). The site is particularly tailored for Google advertising campaigns.

What To Expect With Distance Learning Courses

By M. Xavier

Distance learning courses can be a wonderful way for anyone with a computer and Internet to pursue a higher degree. These classes are now offered by a variety of different institutions and really cover the gamut as far as study area is concerned.

But, what can students really expect to get out of distance learning courses?

The answer to that is a lot! If the idea is that distance learning is a "free ride," an easy way to go or a snap to finish, get that out of the head right now. The truth is many of these courses are as difficult and challenging as their classroom counterparts and some are even more so.

Students who sign on for distance learning courses will find they are typically handled quite a bit differently than classes attended in person, but that doesn't mean the course requirements are slack. The reality is for accreditation to extend to these classes, professors and students have to walk a very fine line to ensure the teaching is quality and the learning is, too.

Some of the things students taking distance learning courses might be wise to expect include:

* Actual lectures. These might take place during set times in chat rooms or they might be video recorded for watching on the Internet at a students' convenience. Either way, some actual teaching is very often involved in these classes. If it's not, students will be expected to do a whole lot of reading on their own.

* Books. These don't tend to go away just because coursework is turned in online. Most universities still requires students get the books and read them, too.

* Homework. Papers, reports and even special projects will still all be required by these courses. Part of getting a degree is proving the material is understood and even mastered.

* Tests. Yes, these too are part of the online learning experience. Some tests will be taken online, and in some cases, all of them. Some programs might require students travel to a set location for certain tests along the way.

* Discussions, interaction. This is a very big part of college life. To ensure the flow of thoughts and information between students and faculty continues, many of these programs set up online discussion groups to fill this need. This can be vital for ensuring students understand the material, have done the work and get input they might need to take learning to the next level.

* Access to professors. Whether this is online, over the phone or in person, distance learning courses should not cut this factor out. It is vital in many cases for students to be able to ask questions of their professors. Programs that don't provide some avenue for this might not be as good as they sound. Even if it's only through e-mail, some contact should be available.

Distance learning courses can help busy people finish or even earn from start to finish their degrees. Although the setting is very different, students should still expect to actually have to "earn" those degrees.

Work At Home Moms Or Wahms Welcome All

By Nathan Gurley

"I have felt it, I have held it, I have known, A Woman's Love.

I have tasted & I have wasted, A woman's love." - Alan Jackson

Well, I'm not wasting this opportunity. Recently I was studying Chad Rissenan's $9 Solution to online marketing and work at home business building. Chad recommends joining a forum called WAHM, but does not say what that acronym stands for.

As one who believes in following directions I didn't question it, I just did it. After a while I started feeling like I had accidently walked into the ladies room and it finally hit me. WAHM is short for Work at Home Moms! I was completely embarrassed at first that I had introduced myself. The post had already been made and there was no turning back. I was a WAHM.

The beautiful part of it is that I was welcomed with opened arms! Sure there was a little ribbing and kidding but it was all in good fun. The nice ladies there said that I could be a Work at Home Man and it was all good. In fact, they said there were others like me but I didn't see any mugs like mine in the forum.

The site/forum was founded by Cheryl Demas who started working at home in 1994. It is a byproduct of early postings in her transition from being a working-mom to work-at-home mom as she describes it in her welcome message.

7 Reasons Why WHAM Works

Reason #1: The site is there to help people and not sell them. Cheryl drives that point home on several places and makes it clear what the purpose of each message board is. There are places to sell and there are places not to.

Reason #2: Cheryl has a private forum for anyone who wants to speak with her directly. No one else can reply in that message board and she has an open "cyber door" policy.

Reason #3: Question of the Week - In this forum, Cheryl kicks it off with a question of the week and everyone chimes in with their 2 cents. There are light-hearted questions and serious topics. It really is interesting to hear responses in this board.

Reason #4: Business Advice & Business Topics - This forum is to offer assistance, not to sell things. There are tons of topics on just about anything from online marketing to where find business cards to how to set up a signature file.

Reason #5: Prayers and Good Thoughts Requests - Earlier in Reason # 1, I said that WAHM was there to help people and it is never more evident in this message board. Everyone at some point or another has need for prayer and guidance and this is the forum for it. People reach out here for prayer and support and they find an abundance of it.

Reason #6: Article Directory - There is a whole section on choosing a business and determining which business is a good fit for you. Examples of topics include:

*Working From Home - Have You Got What it Takes?

*Should I stay home go back to work or both?

* Ten Tips for Choosing the right Direct Sales Business.

* Home Business Ideas

*Work At Home Scams - Don't Be a Victim

and several others.

Reason #7: Tons of Other Useful Links - There are just too many things to list but some notable examples are: Jane's Advice (a Dear Abby type place), Recipes for WAHMs, WAHM Undercover (Scams Revealed), Business Opportunity Classified Ads, WAHM Cartoons, Find WAHMs Near You, and much more.

Why listen to me any longer? Go see for yourself what's at WAHM. http://www.wahm.com/

Make Money From Home - Getting Started Right

By Robert Saville

Everyone seems to want to know, "How can I get started making money from home?" The make money from home industry is growing at an alarming rate as more and more opportunities become available to everyone.

Some opportunities even require no previous experience and a very small investment to get started. Actually, it has never been easier to make money from home than it is right now. If that be true then why are so many people skeptical and wary of getting started? What about the people that do get started, but last only a month or two before throwing in the towel?

Well, there could be many answers to these questions, but I think confusion has to be near the top of the list. By confusion I mean not knowing where or how to start or who to trust.

The media is literally flooded with make money from home ads. Newspapers, magazines, the internet, or even on the side of a bus, you will see work from home ads anywhere and everywhere.

With all the attractive offers floating around out there these days, it's getting harder for even experienced marketers to tell a good, legitimate opportunity from an outright scam designed to separate you from your money. If you have done any research at all on make money from home opportunities, most all of them claim to be the latest and greatest thing to make you rich beyond your wildest dreams. Some even claim that you can do all of this without so much as lifting a finger. Don't we all wish that one were true?

The truth is you really can get to the point of making money from home, and lots of it, without spending a lot of time working. In the initial stages of any money making enterprise though, there is lots to learn and lots to do. Unfortunately, most people are not willing to learn or willing to do. Most people desperately want to believe they can get rich without doing anything at all.

If you are one of us that does want to learn and is not afraid of a little honest effort, there is absolutely no limit to what you can accomplish right in the comfort and privacy of your own home. You see, it's not where and how you start that is as important as what you do after you get started. Even if you select an opportunity that is less than perfect you will learn enough to move forward and very soon you should find your niche.

There are several things you should consider when determining whether or not an opportunity to make money from home is legitimate or not. First, you should find out if the company with the opportunity is offering support to help you get started on the right track and also to help you to keep moving forward.

Next, you should inquire about how much of a financial investment is required to get started. In most cases you should be able to start an online business for less than $100 startup cost.

Last, but certainly not least, be sure the company is offering a money back guarantee. Let's face it- no opportunity is for everyone. You may need a little time to figure out if the one you selected was right for you.

Taking these few precautions should remove at least some of the doubt and anxiety you may feel over getting started. Just remember back on your first day at work on your present job or business. Chances are you did not have all the answers then as you probably won't here either.

How To Find The Best Internet Marketing Training

By Titus Hoskins

So you want to be an Internet Marketer? You want to be your own boss. You want to set your own hours and work from the comfort of your own home, no matter where in the world you choose to live. You simply want the freedom working on the web gives you.

Realistically, the only major obstacle in your way is a good solid training or education in how online marketing really works.

So just how does one earn a living online?

No doubt you have heard all the over-hyped stories of how some nearly comatose dim-wit with just a few functioning brain cells makes a financial killing online. Or how some geeky high school kid working on a computer in his parent's basement, cracks the formula for making big bucks on the net.

However, if you can dismiss all the bogus claims and see through all the marketing hype, you will find thousands upon thousands of very ordinary people quietly working on the web and making a very decent living from the comfort of their own homes.

All of them had to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to become part of this new cyber workforce. Each one had to obtain a good education or training in order to make the web work for them. They had to discover the techniques and methods of making a website or online business produce revenue 24/7/365, earning income automatically even while they're sleeping.

Different Ways To Earn Online Income

Complicating the whole process is the fact that there are countless ways to earn income on the web. You can build websites and earn money thru advertising, you can sell your own products or services, you can do affiliate marketing and sell other people's products, you can become a
consultant and sell your expertise, you can work the eBay system, you can do Google arbitrage buying and selling traffic... these are just a few of the countless ways you can earn a living online.

One obvious fact still remains - you have to learn this stuff. You have to know how all this works. You have to obtain an Internet marketing training or education.

Like any profession it is best to learn from someone who is actually pursuing that profession, simply learn your trade from another reputable online marketer. Unfortunately, this can be a virtual minefield if you're not careful in your choice of educator you may end up wasting a lot of time and money on foolish 'get-rich-quick' programs and useless info products that you will never use.

With this thought fresh in your mind, here are some of the most worthwhile teachers and training courses you might consider. All of these have earned solid reputations for producing effective online marketing products and courses.

These should make the top of your short list:

Ken Evoy and his whole Site Build It system. A comprehensive online marketing system that takes even the most complete novice and shows them step-by-step how to build a web business. Sometimes referred to as "The Full Monty Of eMarketing!" You can now take the SBI training in over 18 universities and colleges.

Brad Callen and his SEO & Keyword Elite products. For the professional marketer Brad has not only developed some of the best marketing tools, he has created a whole series of training lessons with videos, ebooks and podcasts as bonus incentives to buy his Bryxen Software products.

John Reese with his Traffic Secrets gained notoriety in online marketing circles by selling over a million dollars in just one day. Recently, John has devoted his time around Income.com which offers many great free training products.

Joel Comm with his Adsense line of products, plus the first reality show for online marketers: The Next Internet Millionaire. This reality type concept had to happen with Internet marketing and Joel is bringing in some top names including Armand Morin, Mike Filsaime and Mark Joyner who is often referred to as the Godfather of Internet marketing.

Marlon Sanders and his whole line of Higher Response Marketing products including the Amazing Formula. Another one of the pioneers of Internet marketing and a great source to learn how to market on the web.

Neil Shearing with his Scamfreezone products is another remarkable online teacher. With a PHD and British background, Neil is often credited with bringing a high level of professionalism to the often over-hyped arena of Internet marketing.

Jim Daniels with BizWeb2000 is another marketer who has built up a solid following on the web. One of the first marketers in the States to popularize working full-time online.

Kenneth A. McArthur with Affiliate Showcase and his Learning Folders. Ken is also one of the top JV (Joint Venture) experts on the web with his jvAlert site.

Other Training Sources

Then there are others such as Janet Wilson (Empowerism), Mike Merz (Im4newbies), Micheal Green (Howtocorp), Stone Evans (The Home Biz Guy), Brad Fallon (Stomper & FreeIQ) and Yanek Silver (33 Days To Online Profits).

Of course, these are just the top names that spring to mind and they are good starting points for anyone wishing to explore Internet marketing. In addition, you must realize many large companies are now getting involved in training webmasters and marketers on how to earn online.

Google offers extensive information with their webmaster tools as well as their Adwords and Adsense programs. Don't overlook Google as your major source of online training. For those willing to learn, Google gives any marketer invaluable free information and tools in which to monetize their sites. Google Analytics should be consider as the online marketer's primer.

Large affiliate networks like Commission Junction, LinkShare, ClickBank, Shareasale... should also be considered as valuable learning resources for the online marketer. These companies will help you succeed with your promotions and marketing.

Likewise, the major PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising companies will offer valuable tools and training. Yahoo!Marketing (Overture) Microsoft Adcenter and Google Adwords all offer excellent resources to help the online marketer proceed in the right direction.

In addition, there are companies like Web CEO which offer training products not only to individuals but also to companies as well, helping over 360,000+ businesses in 124 countries and counting.

Take The Backdoor!

Perhaps, in the final analysis, any person wishing to learn Internet marketing can draw a hands-on training from any of theses individuals or companies listed above. Also remember, acquiring training from these parties does not have to cost you a fortune for almost all have a convenient backdoor. They offer affiliate programs which you can join at no cost and most will train you how to market their products, offering you a valuable education in online marketing in the process.

The prudent student will no doubt take information from many of the sources listed above and proceed with the one that suits their own personality and working habits. For in the end, unlike traditional jobs of the past, becoming a full-time online marketer is all about satisfying your own needs and objectives.

It's all about building a lifestyle that offers you the freedom to pursue your own goals and interests in whatever location you choose to live. Internet marketing offers everyone, regardless of age or background an equal opportunity, to obtain a part or full-time income from the web. Earning a living simply doesn't get any better than this.

Internet Marketing - As Easy As Abc

By Chang Wee Teo

What is Internet marketing? It is simply the concept of business marketing, both to customers and to other businesses (B2B), by using the internet. The complicated part, however, is getting inside the concept and drilling into the details on how it works. This is because the internet is ever-evolving and therefore subject to waves of change.

As the internet technology advances, new business opportunities are created. Similarly, advances in technology are making more affordable options possible and available to the consumer. That is why there are so many people logging onto the internet daily, and this number is increasing every day. Internet Marketing is not only targeting on the wealthy individuals, it is for all income levels.

The internet marketing went berserk in the 1990s. Many people are attracted to it, because it was a brand new concept then. The companies, better known as the dot.coms, did not consider that the same variables of marketing in other forms of media should logically be applied to internet marketing too. There were neither studies of the markets nor development of sound strategies. This led to the fall of many of these companies in the end of year 2000. So, who are the survivors? These are the ones who diligently follow the time-tested logic in marketing for direction, and the result was massive growth.

To further enhance success on the internet marketing, targeted advertising cannot be missed. You can tap into any market while you are on the internet Most of the marketing companies offer business solutions, to get their products out to consumers, while a small sized company may handle its own marketing.

Another powerful resource for marketing is search engines. Of course, it will not be able to provide ideas for what the consumer is searching for. Some ways of advertising include the use of pop-up ads and ads placed directly on a web-site. E-mail is an excellent form of marketing. Success is usually achieved once a business has built a good relationship with the consumer.

From statistics, the number of people accessing the Internet is increasing everyday. Many tasks no longer require a trip in the car to be completed. Relationships are growing on the web, and as they do, the pace of internet commerce has rocketed into the trillions of dollars.

With the advances in technology, and increased traffic, internet marketing has a very bright future and it is gaining popularity every day in almost every corner in the world.

Benefits Of Work At Home And Self-employment

By Mark Walters

When we start a work at home business there are dreams of working in our pajamas, sleeping late, and retiring early. Most of these expectations fall outside of reality. However, there are some tangible advantages like moving to the cottage for the summer, and working on your laptop from the dock. Property investors and tourism writers can travel the world - tax free.

The most common benefit that attracts people to work at home businesses is the opportunity to stay with family, and reduce expenses. Eliminating the fast food lunches, new clothing every season, driving to work, parking, baby sitting, cell phones, blackberry fees, and beauty parlor/barber fees can reduce a household's bills by more than $10 000 - $15 000. Add a second vehicle, insurance, maintenance, and fuel, and the yearly savings from a work at home position can reach $20 000.

This means that a work at home professional can earn $20 000 less than they would make if they worked out, and still break even. Earning $20 000 from a work at home position, $400 a week, is the same as an office job which earns $800 a week, in many professions.

One main reason for working at home is vacation time. While many work at home professionals do not take long vacations, the freedom to take a vacation when you want to, is worth the effort needed to establish a business.

The biggest advantage is telling people that you are running a business instead of starting one. A franchise or a brick-and-mortar business takes five years to establish. Most business gurus tell new business owners that they must reinvest all the profits from a business for five years before the business is stable.

Work at home ventures can often start supporting the business owner within months, even weeks of establishment. Even if the owner is forced to withdraw cash instead of reinvest it, the work at home business will not receive an devastating blow.

There are intangible benefits. One quarter of all personality types do not fit into the corporate blueprint. These people have elevated levels of creativity, a higher IQ or EQ, they learn faster than normal, they are to pragmatic to participate in office politics, and they are able to think outside of the box. These people coined the term 'entrepreneur.'

However, other people find work at home solves some problems. Many dyslexic people are running vast Internet businesses by hiring people to do their programming. Social people gave birth Web2.0 and took control of the net from Google and Yahoo. Creative people brought graphic arts to a new level and introduced philosophy and sociology to advertising.

Of course, we cannot talk about work at home without leaving behind the ugly side of the workplace, toxic communication, and coworker predators. You know the people, they knock others down for first place, trivialize success, throw stones at others, ridicule achievement, and brown nose.

Coworker predators laugh at other's missteps and failures. Their attitude derails projects, ruins reputations and derails careers. The freedom of working alone on a project, or hand picking a team, can be worth the effort.

Many people are afraid to work at home until a coworker predator has totally demeaned and demoralized them. They leave their victims lacking confidence and afraid to take chance. It can take some people several months to overcome their own inhibitions before they can put 110% into their own business.

In fact, most work at home professionals later admit that they wasted most of their first year because they were afraid of confrontation. When you're successful at work, predators will attack you. This makes you afraid of confrontation and success. When you work at home, the successes can be celebrated, new colleagues praise your work, and urge you to release your passions.

So, if you are stifled at work, or the workplace schedule does not fit your life, then consider work at home - before it is too late.

Home Based Franchise Opportunities

By Naz Daud

Potential Franchisees seeking a business opportunity that can be run from have never had such a great choice. Franchisors have now realised that the potential for home based franchises is huge. More and more people want to leave the rat race and work for themselves at the same time as keeping their overheads low.

The types of businesses that can be successfully run from home are wide and varied. They include businesses like financial solutions, business advice, computer repair, book keeping, ink cartridges, child minding, car repairs, business coaches and publishing your own magazines.

Most of these franchises provide you with comprehensive training in how to set up your own home office. They will give you advice on basic bookkeeping, making sales calls, setting up broadband, setting up wireless connectivity and much more. There is a lot more to working at home than people realise!

When people first start thinking about working from home they fail to realise that their family will feel threatened. What was once their own private domain has now been turned into business premises! The first action that anybody should take is to set up a dedicated office that does not infringe on other family life.

The best idea, if possible is to convert the garage properly. It might cost a bit of money but it means that business visitors do not have to set a foot inside the house. If the garage is large enough then it is a good idea to add a toilet. This means that for all intents and purposes it is a self contained unit.

It is also important that people are comfortable in their working environment. Taking this into account make sure you have a water cooler, proper lighting, decent carpet and ventilation. After all chances are that you will spend more time in your "office" then in your house!

The basic equipment that is required includes a computer, broadband connection, printer, fax machine, filing cabinet, desk and some chairs. You can now get all in one printers that are also fax machines, copiers and scanners. Investing in a good quality machine that you can buy cheap ink cartridges for is a must.

One of the mistakes that a lot of people make when they work from home is to get up, switch on their computer whilst still in their night dress and start working. Before long it is mid afternoon and they still have not had a shower or brushed their teeth! Get into the habit of getting dressed before you even check your emails!

Make it clear to your family and friends that even though you are at home you are not to be disturbed during normal working hours. Otherwise you will get uninvited friends dropping in unannounced for a cup of coffee and a chat. It is amazing how fast the working day can disappear when you are entertaining!

There are some very good franchise opportunities for people seeking to work from home if you set up your home office correctly and manage to get disciplined. If you miss the banter of the office than there are some really good online networking sites that are business related.

Building Links To Your Site: Vital For Seo Success, Part 1

By Adrian Adams

With any online business, generating traffic to view the products or services you have to offer is essential. Since the World Wide Web is a huge arena, you can bet there is plenty of competition out there. It doesn't matter how great of an item you have to offer if people don't find out about it. To get your business the recognition it deserves, it is vital that you understand the various techniques for building links to your site.

If you want to rank well on the search engines, you have to have quality backlinks from other websites. Without quality backlinks to your site, you will not be able to rank well on the search engines. The good news is that there are lots of ways to build links to your site. Some of the ways to building these links are going to cost you money, but some of the most successful ways really won't cost you anything more than your time.

One of first places you want to start is with submitting your website to the various web directories. There are 100's of web directories that will give you a free listing for your website. The most important thing to do when submitting your site to web directories is to read the instructions. If you don't follow the instructions, your listing will likely be denied.

There are also many places on the internet where you can submit articles for free. The articles can be informational in nature but they can't be a direct advertisement for your business. However, at the bottom of the articles you can add a section that provides information about yourself and a link to your website if they want more information. Article marketing is one of the best ways to get quality one way links to your site.

The Process Of Search Engine Optimization

By John Tremblay

Search engine optimization is the process of using natural search methods to take advantage of search engine algorithms. This process allows the web site in question to appear earlier on the results page when the search results page is returned to the person making the query. Those sites with an earlier appearance on the results pages are said to have a higher rank

Specialists in the process of revising web pages so that they will have a higher rank usually work in one of two ways. The first group is known as 'white hat' optimizers and the second group is, of course use 'black hat' methods. The labels put upon the two groups would make the clients think that white hats are always good methods, while black hats are somewhat shady and perhaps even illegal. Actually, this overstates the characteristics on both sides.

Both groups attempt to determine from anecdotal evidence what the secret algorithms of the major search engines are. Interestingly enough, the number one search engine, Google, uses a different premise than that of the next two most popular search engines--MSN and Yahoo. Google's PageRank processes assumes that the web pages in a certain grouping or subject which receives the most links to other pages on the same subject is the one recognized as the 'authority' on the subject. Yahoo and MSN are more inclined to look at how effectively and how often certain search terms, known as 'keywords' are being used in a particular site.

From that starting point in each search engine, the algorithms used vary. For example, one search engine may look at how early in the page the keywords are used. Google theoretically looks at the value of the incoming links to a web site. A web page which has good incoming links and few outgoing links will rank higher than one which has many incoming links and many outgoing links.

So, in practice, both the white hats and the black hats are after the same goal. The differences between the two come down to the approach that is taken and how effective it is in getting past the search engine spiders who 'crawl' the web pages. A white hat optimizer will attempt to write web page content that reads well for humans as well as spiders, but to utilize key words and page links effectively in order to increase the rankings. A black hat optimizer may be less concerned about the way the web page reads to humans, and instead try to circumvent the intention of the search engine in the first place. For example, until it was discovered and taken into account in the algorithms, link farms were used to sell links to web pages. Another favorite 'black hat' technique was to use white font messages which could be read by the search engines, but did not appear visible to humans. Again, as soon as this technique was identified by those who write the algorithms it was blocked.

Search engines sometimes take the drastic step of removing pages which are determined to be using 'black hat' techniques from the search engine results pages.

SEO - Wearing The White Hat Part # 1

By Scott Lindsay

If you have heard the term "Black Hat SEO" then you know the term is applied negatively to websites that use methods of optimizing their website that are frowned on by search engines. In fact, these search engines will ban these sites from their rankings when they are discovered (and they almost always are).

There is another term used for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) referred to as "White Hat", and just like the movie westerns of yesteryear you get the picture that there is a struggle between good and bad between these optimization approaches.

Newsweek reported in a December 19th, 2005 article, "[Search engines] are increasingly tolerant of ethical or "white hat" [SEOs], who primarily help their clients knock down the virtual walls that prevent search engines from fully indexing their site."

To be clear, search engines view "Black Hat" SEO as spam while "White Hat" SEO is not only accepted, it is encouraged. Matt Cutts from Google has said, "To Google, SEO only becomes spam when it goes against our quality guidelines and moves into things like hidden text, hidden links, cloaking, or sneaky redirects...Truthfully, much of the best SEO is common-sense: making sure that a site's architecture is crawlable, coming up with useful content or services that has the words that people search for, and looking for smart marketing angles so that people find out about your site."

Now imagine a business owner looking for ways to pay the least amount on their income tax. They have every right to do so, but there comes a point when numbers are incorrectly manipulated to reduce the individual tax burden. Chances are pretty good that sometime in the future this individual is going to get caught.

"White Hat" SEO practitioners understand there is acceptable rules and they will frame their strategies within those rules because to `get caught' using unethical SEO practices could mean saying goodbye to your ability to let the most people know about your existence on the web.

"Black Hat" SEO is often a sign of desperation. Because proper SEO techniques can take a while to be recognized and applied to search engine rankings many businesses who may feel their chance at business success is slipping away may resort to "Black Hat" techniques and end up banned from search engines in the process.

I can't fault people for wanting business success sooner, but the moderate use of PPC advertising can help offset that `in-between' time when you are waiting for "White Hat" SEO strategies to kick in.

In our next article we'll answer the question, "What are some SEO strategies that are considered `White Hat'?"

PPC - The Moderation Key

By Scott Lindsay

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is often viewed as a quick way to get traffic to your website. After all, the advertising itself is just a few words so it shouldn't take too long to put it together, get it online and wait for the customers to be delivered to your website on a silver platter. Right?

Maybe not.

Many businesses use most of the words available in their word count to place the name of their business and they don't take advantage of researched keywords. PPC advertisers could be paying more money for their ads then they need to because they haven't investigated less popular keywords that are just as effective and provide a similar return on investment (ROI).

In most cases you can even take advantage of a negative keyword. What this means is if you have a company that sells a variety of nuts, you might consider placing a `- cashews' if you don't actually sell cashews. Essentially this eliminates the PPC advertising to show up on any sites that feature cashews.

If you fail to use the negative words effectively you could have a significant number of cashew fans clicking on your `nut' advertising only to be disappointed that you don't carry their favorite. The end result is that you had to pay for clicks made by potential customers who found themselves disappointed.

You should also err conservatively on the cost of attracting new customers on your ROI estimate. Don't bid higher on PPC advertising, on an overall basis, when it seems you are not likely to gain a return on your advertising investment.

You should also take your time in the development of the language for your PPC advertisement as well as effective using both positive and negative keywords. You should keep in mind that PPC advertising should be viewed as a short-term solution to your long-range objectives.

By utilizing strong search engine optimization (SEO) strategies you are likely to see much better site visitation and a more motivated customer base. The reason for this is that when you improve your SEO strategy you also tend to improve your site ranking. Most people use search engines to locate the products they want. If they can find your site easily in a web search why would they need to pay attention to peripheral PPC advertising?

PPC advertising can be effective, but the need for this type of advertising should be short-term and used in moderation.

List Building: 5 Great Ways To Increase Opt-ins And Conversions

By Tellman H. Knudson

If you're just starting out with Internet Marketing, you probably don't know where to begin when creating your first list building page. Tracking and testing of whatever page you create is important, and you should start doing those things right away. But before you begin, you really have no stats to base your business on, so you may find it useful to use the stats of others. MarketingExperiments.com is such a place.

In 2004, MarketingExperiments.com conducted a survey about subscription rates. Though the study isn't completely about list building, many of the ideas that the company presents are highly relevant. I'd like to share some of the results of the 2004 test and show you how they relate to list building. You can see the ful report at http://tinyurl.com/2ymexr.

1) Be sure your value proposition is prominent.

When you tell customers or potential list members what's in it for them, you're letting them in on your value propsition. How will your special report that you're giving away in exchange for their name and email address solve their problem? For example, if your niche is computers and your report tells them minimum requirements they need to select a new laptop, people who don't know computers quite so well would be interested. You're going to show them what they need to make an informed decision before they buy. This value proposition should probably be your headline.

2) Make signing up quick and easy

Opt-in boxes should be kept simple. You only need the person's first name and email address. If you need more to deliver a product, for instance, then get it when the person actually buys what you're selling. Just getting them onto your list is the goal, the list building page simple, and you don't ask for too much information, you have a better chance of getting people onto your list.

3) Tell them you'll protect them

Just below the opt-in box on your list building page should be a statement of privacy, such as "We will never rent, sell, or otherwise distribute your information to anyone for any reason." Though it's true that everyone can put such a statements on their websites and not mean it, just having it there increases the public's security level and may help them to make the decision to opt-in to your list.

4) Provide a statement about low-risk.

Letting people know that they can unsubscribe at any time often boosts your opt-in rate. Sometimes, they just realize how much mail they have coming in, and shy away. But if you let them know that they can always unsubscribe without issue, they'll be more likely to join your list.

5) Your list building page should be the beginning of your sales funnel.

Most list building has selling subsequent products to the customer over time. So, make your list building page the top of your sales funnel. Once someone signs in, your thank you page should be your sales letter for the product you want to sell. Even so, they may still not buy, and that's what autoresponder messages are for. Though you've advertised your product in your special report that people got for signing up, you want to continue to send a series of informational messages with the product in mind via your autoresponder. If you give them good content, a greater number will be willing to buy.

Though you have to track and test your own list building pages, these 5 hints will certainly help your opt-in rate and potentially, your conversion rate, as well. Always remember to answer the "What's in it for me?" question, and help people solve their problems. When you can do that, you'll build a customer base of loyal people that will last a lifetime.

Ditch Your Corporate Cubicle And Join The Ranks Of Web Workers Making Money Online.

By Yoshi Kundagawa

There are many different ways to make money online these days, depending on your experience, skills and how much time you have available. If you are sick of working for other people, the unending rat race and being stuck in rush hour traffic, working from home could be ideal for you. It is a bad idea to abandon your job and immediately try to set up a company because anything poorly planned is almost bound to fail. Take your time in thinking about exactly what you want to do.

Ways to make money online include having an online store, using affiliate programs, having a website which requires membership and anything else you can think of. You know what your own skills are. Let me give you an example. If you know a lot about tennis, you might think about setting up an online store (or even a store on Ebay) to sell tennis equipment. If you are passionate about the sport, that will show through in your website, store layout, any articles you put on your website and in the way you answer inquiries from customers. If you decide to
sell tennis equipment and racquets without knowing much about the subject, your lack of knowledge will show through and potential customers will mistrust you! Another thing to bear in mind, especially when running an online store, is that you should stick to one thing! If you want to buy a printer, are you more likely to visit a store that specializes in computer-related goods or one that sells a strange mixture of printers, ethnic jewelry, foodstuffs and comic books? It goes without saying that, as a consumer, you will have more faith in the one specializing in one type of product.

There are plenty of opportunities out there right now because of the way in which technology is improving and because so many people use the internet now, to find information, entertain themselves and buy products. Ebay is the world's largest online store and it is easy and cheap to advertise products on there. You can even set up your own store. An advantage of having an Ebay store (as well as being able to advertise your wares cheaply) is that once someone views one of your items, they will see everything else in your store and might end up buying more from you than they had intended.

You should also be quite careful when thinking about ways to make money online. There are plenty of scams out there. Any genuine company recruiting online will not ask you to pay to get their information. If you want to sell affiliate products (meaning you advertise other companies' goods on your website to get commission on sales), you should not have to pay for the privilege.

Other ways to make a living from the comfort of your own home include doing online surveys, selling services (some companies pay for articles or blogs) or setting up a site providing a service for which you charge a membership fee.

The best way to begin is to think about exactly what skills you have (remember, you can learn new ones online for free!) and think about what interests you the most. Then check out other websites to see what other people are doing or selling. A home business usually takes a while to get off the ground so don't give up your other job until it really gets going!

Ebooks - Residual Prosperity

By Scott Lindsay

The use of ebooks as an affiliate revenue stream can be a solid business platform especially for a virtually hands-free business providing residual income.

Many businesses utilize some form of affiliate revenue source for products they either don't want to carry on items that have a solid track record.

There are two primary types of ebook affiliate revenue programs.

Flat Rate/Commission

The first is a traceable link that provides an accounting for all sales derived through your specific web link. The residual income is derived through a percentage or flat rate on each ebook sale. The ultimate sale is conducted through a third party site with a check or electronic transfer made when sales reach a certain threshold or they can be made monthly (depending on the ebook company). This scenario may not require any upfront costs.

Reseller

This program allows you to pick ebooks that you feel most comfortable with. You can purchase as many, or few, as you want. You can place these ebooks on your site and keep all the income derived from the sale of the ebooks. This scenario requires full payment for the resell rights to the ebook, however the return on the investment can be substantial in a well marketed website.

In either case, an investment of a website, design and placement of ebook sale and download information may be the primary elements needed to engage in ebook sales with residual income. The sales can be made through a portal site (in the flat rate/commission scenario) or through a dedicated business site (in the reseller scenario).

The strong desire for knowledge-based material combined with the phenomenal growth of ebooks makes this affiliate program a strong contender for positive residual income.

Sell Your Own Ebook

You could develop your own ebooks for sale using your individual expertise. This can provide the greatest return because you are not simply receiving royalties you get to keep all the funds that are derived from the sale of the ebook. Many business owners use their own ebooks as well as those they have purchased for resale on their business site. Others use their ebook along with an affiliation with a third party site to allow visitors to access the greatest number of ebook
purchases.

No matter how you develop it, an ebook business can provide significant residual income. The fact that ebook sales are hands-free make product fulfillment something you don't have to worry about. The customer downloads the ebook once payment has been made - you simply reap the benefit.

Podcasts - Entertainment Marketing

By Scott Lindsay

The web is being populated by thousands of podcasts. If you want a podcast featuring radio drama you can find one. The same is true for any type of music you want, comedy, poetry and more.

Businesses are developing podcasts as a means of marketing their brand or product.

A business podcast could be developed based on an interview with the manufacturer of a featured product, or it could be with the website owner on the value and difference customers can expect from their online business.

You don't have to immediately think of an infomercial when you think podcast either. The truth is a podcast should be something the visitor will feel is worthwhile for them to listen in on. The podcast can, and should, draw attention to features of your website and tools that are helpful to them. This can be knowledge based articles that compliment the podcast material or simply a products page that provide detailed descriptions of the item or items you discussed in the podcast.

The site visitor has control over when they listen and whether they visit so don't beg. You should simply provide honest information and let the visitors decide for themselves if the product is worth further review.

The reason it is important to allow the visitor to make up their own mind is that when businesses try a hard press sales tactic they often find visitors will simply hit the back tab and move along. As hard as it may be, you have to learn to trust your visitors and their ability to make informed decisions.

A podcast is simply a personal and entertaining way to present data to your potential customers. It can be added to your arsenal of tools that can be used in marketing your site and your products.

I listened to a comedy podcast recently and the marketing portion of the website was for comedy script as well as a portion of the site that sold a variety of comedy CD's from several featured comedians. Since I enjoyed some of the comedy it gave me the opportunity to make a purchase that would bring some of that comedy home.

Home software makes it possible for even a novice to develop a podcast that can meet marketing objectives in a way that has value to the customer.

Take some time to visit sites with podcasts to see what they do and how they do it. You will gain insight into what works and what doesn't work in a marketing podcast.

RSS - Cutting Edge Content

By Scott Lindsay

The use of a Real Simple Syndication (RSS) feed can ultimately offer business owners the opportunity to feed self updating knowledge-based content to your website visitors.

Agreements can be worked out with applicable third-party websites that allow content to be updated on your website without your intervention.

This third party information can provide industry related news or recent applicable blog entries related to your industry for your site visitors to feast on.

It is possible for a web designer to create a page that draws relevant information from highly specific RSS feeds. This data can be updated and archived as needed.

As a business owner this is good news. It can take some time to receive the permissions needed and then some additional time to recast a website in the image of a multi-source pool of information, but it can be well worth the effort.

Believe it or not, this scenario can also provide the perfect reasoning to work at supplying original content to others through an RSS feed. Other sites may be interested in your original content.

Generally speaking, sites that use this third-party data include the first sentence or paragraph and a link to the full article. This redirects visitors to the site of origin, which if you allow the information to be used elsewhere provides a unique backlink to the originating site.

Many business websites rely on third party (self updating) RSS feeds to supply the most current information to their visitors. These visitors view this information as a comprehensive network that allows them to glean large cross section of knowledge-based content helping them gain a better understanding of the industry you are involved in.

This process allows businesses to see the value in allowing their content to be made available through RSS feed. Obviously most people look at RSS feeds as a means of simply informing subscribers, but the potential with RSS feeds reflects the real power of syndication.

In traditional publishing and broadcasting the idea of syndication has been reserved for those who had the most money and the most skilled writer staff. The Internet removes all barriers by allowing anyone with something to say to syndicate their material through RSS. That doesn't always mean there is an audience for the material, but RSS continues to allow the material to be distributed as widely as interested subscribers make it.

Sure there are risks involved in blindly accepting third party RSS feeds for `publication' on your site. You should either work with only trusted third party content providers or develop a system with your web designer that will allow you to manually approve the content that is ultimately available on your site.

Seo - Rabbit And Tortoise Web Design

By Scott Lindsay

Once upon a time there were two web designers. One was Tom Tortoise and the other was Harry Rabbit.

Harry was one of the fastest web designers the forest had ever seen. He could churn out a site in no time while Tom consistently worked late into the night trying to get his work done.

One day Harry met Tom at the local Spareducks for coffee.

"I bet I can finish the `Stork Appreciation' site before you can finish the `Stop and Smell the Roses" site," Harry said with a slightly evil chuckle.

"Well, I don't know," Tom said slowly.

"Ah, that's what I thought. You're a chicken," Harry replied.

"OK the first one to reach the top ten with their respective keywords will be the winner," Tom said.

Harry readily agreed and slurped down his Espresso con Panna. Like a shot Harry was off to work on his newest website creation. Tom took his time and finished his Espresso Lungo with just a hint of caramel.

The next morning Tom arrived at work to continue designing his website when Harry called and said, "Silly tortoise, you should never try to outdo a rabbit. I worked late last night and the website is done. I sent you a link. Check your email."

Tom listened to the rabbit cackle as he hung up the phone.

Tom took his time making sure every page, Meta title, photograph and article was SEO friendly. He made sure he submitted information to the main Internet directories and he quietly watched as his finished website rose in the search engine rankings.

Then came the morning when the site was ranked in the top ten. That's when he called Harry, "Did you notice I won the contest?"

"What contest?" the rabbit bellowed.

Tom explained and the rabbit was fit to be tied.

"It's like my dad always said, Harry, `Slow and steady, wins the race,'" Tom replied.

The moral of this fractured fairly tale is that simply building a website is not enough to ensure that people will visit or that search engines will take notice.

Like the children's story, the individual that is methodical and consistent in web development and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) will likely do much better in the long run than a hastily prepared site that lacks a cohesive purpose in online marketing.

Do everything you can to optimize your website with specific keywords or phrases and watch your site visitation statistics improve.

Seo Techniques ~ Increasing Page Rank Through Web Directories

By David Bain

When a typical individual surfs the internet, he or she will more than likely use a search engine like Google or Yahoo!Search to proceed with the search for specific information. After a result is returned by the search engine, this typical individual is likely going to click the link at the top of the page or at least a link found on the first page. The awareness of this leads many web masters to hire search engine optimization professionals to increase their page rank. A higher page rank means more web traffic for a web site.

--- Page rank and search engine algorithms ---

A high page rank is attained if the search engine finds the web site relevant to the specific keyword query made by a web surfer, and search engines have certain criteria for ranking the millions of web sites in their indexes. To be on top of the results page or to have a high page rank therefore, a web site must fulfill the criteria set out by the search engines. Search engine optimization professionals make a study of the search engine's search algorithms and try to incorporate these algorithms into a web site's pages.

--- Link popularity as a criterion for search engine ranking ---

One important criterion that search engines use to rank the pages in their indexes is link popularity. The logic lies in the supposition that the more other relevant sites link back to a web site, the more significant its content would be to the individual initiating the query. Thus, the higher the link popularity of a web site is, the higher the web site's page rank deserves to be.

Link popularity is measured by the volume and quality of one-way links to a web site. A web site attains link popularity when it has many links from other web sites that are related to it. If a web master wishes to increase web site's link popularity, he or she should solicit one-way links from other web sites, and it is better if the web master solicits these links from web sites that are directly related to his or her web site content. Thus, a web master of a travel web site is well advised if he or she seeks one-way links from other travel web sites or other sites that offer travel information. Another means to increase link popularity would be one-way links from web directories.

--- Web directories ---

Web directories are usually industry specific. They are an organized collection of links to web sites that belong in the same field. There are web directories for adult dating sites, there are web directories for travel-related sites and so on and so forth. Web directories also usually have sub directories. The links are typically classified into specific fields within a comprehensive industry; and more often than not, there are sub-categories for states, cities, and/or zip codes.

Web directories are a popular means of obtaining one-way links, and links that come from web directories carry much weight in link popularity, and thus, page ranking.

--- Submitting to web directories ---

To maximize the impact of web directory listings to page rank, the web master must choose the web directory carefully. The bigger and the more reputable the web directory is, the higher is the impact of a listing on page rank. It is also important to ensure that the link is submitted under the most appropriate heading or category of the web directory. Search engines look at the company your link keeps, so the more relevant the links around you in the directory are, the higher your page rank becomes.

Ezines - Goldie And The Bear Ezines

By Scott Lindsay

Once there were three bears that lived in a far off land. Each had their own weekly ezine and worked hard to make their ezines the best possible.

Papa Bear included knowledge-based content on fishing and the role salmon play in the North Pacific ecosystem.

Mama Bear included knowledge-based content on the role of doily making in a burgeoning cottage industry related to bed and breakfast establishments worldwide.

Teen Bear wrote a stream of consciousness ezine that read more like a common blog entry than any knowledge-based content his parents produced.

One morning the bear family sat down to finish their weekly ezines when they simultaneously discovered their Internet service was down.

The three made their way to McGruff's 24-hour Sushi Bar where they enjoyed a breakfast of Hirame, Saba and Shrimp Rolls.

Meanwhile a young lady named Goldie was wandering through the forest when she happened upon the cottage recently vacated by the bear trio.

While she knocked, she was an individual of pronounced curiosity. She stumbled into Papa Bear's office just as the Internet came back up. She saw his ezine ready to send. Goldie read of salmon and ecology and said, "This ezine is too hot."

Then she visited Mama Bear's computer where she read of doilies and the latest fashions in bed and breakfast décor. Goldie said, "This ezine is too soft."

Then she found Teen Bear's laptop and read about the latest olie impossible tricks on a skateboard using little more than a hard flip and a nose manual. She smiled and said, "This is just right."

The bears came home and discovered Goldie reading Teen Bear's ezine. While they were grateful she enjoyed it they asked her to sign up online instead of breaking and entering.

The moral of the story is there are a multitude of ezines available for a wide variety of tastes. Not everyone will be satisfied with yours. Make it easy for them to opt in and opt out. It is OK for a visitor to sign up for your ezine and then opt out after a relatively few ezine deliveries.

Market your ezine effectively and honestly and you will find a more interested group of individuals that will look forward to what you have to say. Ezines can be a highly effective form of online marketing, but you don't have to trick people to drop by.

Most of all make sure the ezines you send are worth reading and compelling enough for those on your list to come back to.

Why Should You Start Blogging?

By Michelle Johnson

Building an acceptable use policy for blogging can be one of the tougher jobs for a company's human resources and internal security divisions to develop. Businesses of all sizes are beginning to realize the advantage of blogging and what that activity can mean for their businesses. If you wish to start blogging, the process is probably easier than you might have thought.

Before you begin with business blogging, you may want to start off experimenting with a personal blog on one of the free blogging sites. Expierenced internet marketers have now accepted blogging as one of the best Internet marketing methods that is free because you could create your blog almost immediately at no cost compared to the setting up of a conventional website. If you are planning on adding blogging to your business as part of your internet
marketing strategy, you must first get some answers to a few questions concerning the impact that blogging can have on your business.

So these few questions address some of the basics of blogging and how it can impact your business. Strategists unfamiliar with blogging should visit blog search sites, like Technorati, Blogger, Wordpress and gauge the impact of the blogosphere. Last I'd like to sum-up what I believe to be the key benefits of using My Yahoo as a blogging productivity tool : It bundles several tools in one : mail reader, RSS news reader & aggregator, agenda, sticky notes, search engine, online bookmarking and browsing Yahoo directories.

Overall, there are many ways that you could make money on the internet, but many of them will take more time, energy and money than the average person has to spend on them. Not only does your average Blogging software enable Push Button Content Updates, BUT it also has the ability to do a MULTITUDE of the Mundane tasks we have to undertake to build our traffic to our websites.

Basically a blog is a website where a blogger enters "posts" in reverse chronological order (meaning that the newest "posts" are displayed first ) using some sort of blogging software that allows readers to comment on posts, effectively adding new content to the blog. You have someone in your organization who will assume responsibility for the blog, who is both willing and able to sustain the blog with regular posts. When you create your Blog, let us say about "working from home", and its posts use the galleries and Urls from your sponsors.

When you sign up for a Blog or create one on your own site use part of the name or a similar name to the name of the sponsor program you are promoting unless it is against the sponsors T. Quite Simply, a Blog, is a Software to Power your websites, how you decide to use it is up to you, but one thing I will tell you is that the whole Idea behind the fact that blogs are easy to use is to use them Well, and update them regularly, to see the full benefit. I'm not going to lie it is a lot of hard work maintaining the flow of content to your Blogs but who said Life (or Blogging ) was going to be an easy ride?

Start blogging today. It's fun and it's easy.

A Few Tips For Choosing A Home Business Opportunity, Part 1

By Adrian Adams

When you finally make that decision to choose a home business opportunity, you need to realize that you're making a choice to dedicate your time, effort, and money to get yourself started in a home business. No matter what home business you decide to get started on, you're going to have to be patient and attentive to the needs of the business.

First of all, you're not going to get rich quick. Second, if you want this home business opportunity of yours to have any kind of longevity, it's going to need some serious care and nurturing. That's how you start making money: build first, then once you've established yourself, your investment will start to pay off.

Keeping that in mind, you'll need to choose a home business opportunity that will work best for you and your personality. The problem is, there are so many opportunities out there, it can be difficult and frustrating to know where to start. To help you navigate the waters of opportunity, here are a few tips to keep in mind when trying to decide which home business opportunity is right for you.

The Golden Rule: What is Your Start-Up Investment?

What is the cost to you to start the home based business opportunities you're looking into? Most people don't want to shell out thousands of dollars to get their business going, but in some cases it might be necessary. You need to determine how much you can afford to invest in start-up costs, and whether this amount will impact your finances long-term. If you don't expect to get the money back within the first few months, and that $2000 you're sitting on was going to help pay your electric bill, be smart - look for something more in your personal price range. There are home based businesses that only cost a few hundred dollars to start with, so you might want to consider that instead.

If you can't start the business, you can't run the business, so make sure you use the Golden Rule and follow it! After you've considered this and ruled out what businesses are simply too pricey for you to be able to afford, you can move ahead with these other tips.

However, Google plays a necessary role in your path to riches. In order to become rich in the scientific way, you will rise above the competition.

You know that there is no limit to the number of advertisers that Google will enlist that need your websites to advertise their products and services.

25 + Common Website Design Mistakes To Avoid

By Debbie Ray

I'm sure you've seen examples of great websites on the internet - and also examples of really "Bad" websites. First impressions are extremely important - you have about 20 seconds to make that first impression a good one. If you want your visitor to come back you've got to do a lot to impress them in an extremely short period of time.

Many individuals or small business owners often opt to design and build their own websites. Without proper experience or website design background many mistakes are made. If you are a beginner then there are several things you should keep in mind to avoid before designing your website.

Here are several common mistakes which should be avoided when designing your new website.

1. Slow Loading Pages

Problem: Have you ever gone to a website and waited and waited for it to load?

Solution: Optimize your images at a lower resolution to achieve faster loading pages. Keep your page sizes well under 60 KB.

2. Page Layout

Problem: Websites that have the navigation in different places throughout the site. It looks cluttered and unprofessional.

Solution: Be consistent and be organized in your websites layout. Make sure all your web pages look the same and the websites navigation is in the same location on each page.

3. Wild and Crazy Color Schemes

Problem: Have you ever visited a website that has a background with a bright, neon color and can't read the content because the colors are so loud? What's the point?

Solution: Think "easy to read." Avoid dark backgrounds with light colored fonts. White background with black text is best for the general public.

4. Spelling and Grammar Errors

Problem: Spelling and grammar errors just jump off the page.

Solution: Always spell check.

5. Text on the Page

Problem: Most internet users don't read web pages - they scan them.

Solution: Make sure your page is easy to read. Break text into manageable pieces, use sub headings, short paragraphs, highlighted keywords and bullet points.

6. Font Styles and Sizes

Problem: Serif fonts such as Times New Roman are more difficult to read on a computer monitor. Also, text that is too small or way too big are hard to read.

Solution: Use non-serif fonts such as Arial, Verdana or MS Sans Serif for web pages that will be read online. Your page will look much better, more professional, and will be much easier for your visitor to read.

7. Not Enough "White Space"

Problem: Too many words on a web page can be overwhelming.

Solution: Make your page easy to read by breaking the text into smaller, more manageable pieces. Also, use sub-headings and bullet points.

8. Cheesy Music that the User Cannot Control

Problem: Background music on a site that does not fit. Next, not being able to shut it off.

Solution: If you think you need to use music on your website for some reason, then make sure you offer your visitors the option to turn it off, or on, quickly and easily.

9. Poor Layout and Design

Problem: Have you ever been to a website that is simply just "too much"? It's like they are trying to fill every available pixel of space on the entire page.

Solution: Don't overdo it when designing your pages. Just because you can add something doesn't mean you have to. Leave plenty of white space between your text and images.

10. Overly Long Pages

Problem: Ever been to a website with a page that just scrolls down forever?

Solution: Most people will never scan down to the bottom of really long pages. It's better to have several short pages vs. a few really long pages.

11. Non-Standard Links

Problem: You go to a website and aren't sure which words are really links because the link colors have been changed.

Solution: Don't confuse your users. Keep the link colors as they are.

12. Under Construction signs

Problem: Have you ever been to a website and found a page with no content of any type but a big "Under Construction" sign instead?

Solution: Don't use "Under Construction" signs on your website.

13. Didn't Test Your Web Site

Problem: Ever been to a website that just looks like a mess? Maybe you saw text overlapping images, weird alignment, etc.

Solution: Always check to see what your site looks like in multiple browsers and change accordingly before uploading your site to the web.

14. Unclear Navigation

Problem: You don't enjoy broken links, error pages or too many moving objects - neither do your websites visitors. If navigation is too difficult to follow, visitors won't return.

Solution: Make sure that your navigation is easy to read, find and to follow. Also, make sure that it is in the same spot on all of your websites pages.

15. Sloppy Web Site Copy

Problem: Have you ever visited a website with missing words, bad grammar, or it just didn't make sense?

Solution: Always remember, "Content is King" on the internet, so make sure there is plenty of good, focused information for your visitors.

16. Never Updating Your Site

Problem: Ever go to a website that hasn't been changed at all over the last few times that you've visited it?

Solution: You should always update the content on your site frequently.

17. Too Many Clicks

Problem: Have you ever gone to a website, found something you're interested in checking out, and then had to click, click, click before you found the item you were looking for (if you didn't give up first)?

Solution: Don't test the patience of your visitors. Make sure that everything can be found on your site within 3 clicks or less.

18. No Privacy Policy

Problem: No Privacy Policy page is listed on a website.

Solution: Post a Privacy Policy on your website. Make sure that your customers know that you will not share their addresses with anyone.

19. No Company Contact Information

Problem: A company with no address or contact information is not one you necessarily want to give your money to.

Solution: Email addresses or phone numbers are most often seen as contact information on websites, however, having a physical mailing address on your web site adds another key credibility factor.

20. Using Free Web Hosting

Problem: You visit a web page that has a name so long you'll never remember it because it is from one of those free website hosts.

Solution: If you want your internet business to be taken seriously avoid using free web hosting. This all adds to the issue of credibility.

21. Using Free E-mail Addresses

Problem: You visit a website and try to send an email to them, however the email addresses are not associated with the domain name.

Solution: Using a free email address, such as Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail, is never appropriate for your website. On your website, always use an email addresses associated with your own business domain name.

22. Advertisements

Problem: You've come to a website where the pages are cluttered with a lot of different advertisements.

Solution: A lot of people are using advertisements to earn extra money. That's fine, just don't overdo it.

23. Bad Images

Problem: How many times have you seen a web page with missing graphics files or misshaped images?

Solution: Always optimize your images and use the height and width attributes of the image tag. Additionally, save the files in the right image formats: JPG for Photographs and GIF for artwork.

24. This Website Best Viewed on .....

Problem: This is often seen on many beginner websites.

Solution: Simply don't use this on your website.

25. No Prices

Problem: Websites that don't have product prices listed clearly.

Solution: If you're selling a product on your website, ALWAYS include a price with the item description.

And here's a list of things that you should just avoid, or should not forget, simply because it's the right thing to do, website design-wise. And here they are:

Frames, Hit counters, Orphan pages, Anything "Cutesy", Pop ups, Fancy Fonts, Don't overuse Flash, Avoid Javascript links, Blinking text , Animated GIFs, Missing Meta Tags, Horizontal (sideways) Scrolling, Don't underline or color normal text, Don't forget functional links on your footer, Don't forget about your Marketing Strategies, Don't forget to include anchor text on your links, Never subscribe a visitor for anything without his consent, Don't leave the home page title as "Welcome to Mysite.com", Avoid using all the "Bells And Whistles" simply because you can, Not Taking Advantage of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) on your website.

Whether you have created your own website or are working with someone else on creating your website, I hope all these ideas above will help you build a better website that steadily attracts visitors. If you've never built a website on your own, I hope the tips above help you design the best site that you can and help you to avoid all these issues in the future. Knowledge is critical.

"Increase Quality Or Bid $5.00 To Activate" - Solutions For Google Adwords

By Pete Grundner

If you've ever done a Google Adwords campaign, you might have come across this message for one of your keyword which reads "Increase quality or bid $5.00 to activate."

First, let's look at the reason for this. When Google looks at any placement, it looks at relevancy (perceived relevancy in this case) as discussed in previous Marketing Insight ezines. The reason you have gotten this message is that Google feels that your ad does not relate to the keyword - so it de-activates that keyword. What this message is also saying is that, if you don't know how to use Google Adwords, you should be paying 5 times more than necessary. So what do you do?

WHAT NOT TO DO:

Google make fortunes from people who are so desperate to have their ad shown on that keyword that they agree to the given price. That is a huge mistake and will cost you big. Imagine your lead cost going up by 5 times for that keyword!

Here are two better options for you:

1.) Remove the keyword from that campaign and place it into another ad group that is more relevant or create an ad group campaign that has the keyword in the headline. This is what you should have done from the beginning - group related keywords together so they make sense.

Here are some examples:

  • GROUPING THE WRONG WAY - keywords like Home Business, Earn Money, Online Business, Make Money Fast with an ad that reads "Make $20,000/mo From Home". The problem is, even though the ad might be good, the keywords are too different and do not match the ad, therefore your ad is being de-activated.
  • GROUPING THE RIGHT WAY - The right way to do it is to set up 3 separate ad groups for the above keywords and add related, similar keywords to it like this - Home Business, Home Based Business, Business from Home, etc. - The ad would read - "Best Home Based Business" or "$1,000/Day-Home Business" (some of the keywords are in the title).

Create another ad group for your other keywords like - Earn Money, Earn Money from Home, Earn Extra Money, etc. Your ad would include some if not all keywords in the title like - "Earn Money Fast", "Earn Money While Sleeping" "Earn $3,000/Day", etc.

In other words, when you have the keywords matching the selection of words used in your ad, and your keywords appear in the headline, your ad will rarely be deactivated.

You just accomplished two things, not only will you not have to pay the higher price , instead, more likely, your cpc will drop even lower than what you paid before they asked you to increase your bid. Plus your click rate is even higher because the ad is more relevant.

2.) The other thing you can do is just delete the keyword for a few days and put it back up. Most likely, you'll be back to the original bid price.

Bottom line, Google will reward you for relevancy and will charge you extra for generality. So, next time you get this message, do the smart thing and retool your adwords campaign and don't just pay the requested increase.

E-Learning & M-Learning In The Process Industries-Presenting The Business Case

By Sam Polniak

Executive Summary:

Today's business depends heavily on employees who are trained in the right skills that they need to run the business. It is not for nothing that an ideal business organization is also called "The Learning Organization". With shortage of staff due to competitive pressures like downsizing and outsourcing, it is highly critical for any business to ensure that all of its employees are trained regularly. This is especially so, for businesses like the process industry (chemical processing, oil & gas production, refining, petrochemical manufacturing, etc) who are heavily involved in engineering and technology, because of the rapid changes and advancements (and equally rapid obsolescence) in technology today. Not just technology changes, but the employees of these businesses have to be regularly trained in safety aspects of plant operations, to ensure safety & environment compliance.

Training employees and other stake-holders in your business regularly is a daunting task if attempted to do with the traditional instructor led training. In this White Paper, we examine the issues involved and see how e-learning can offer a better solution.

The challenge of learning in the traditional way:

In current times, in the process industries, there are several problems and issues related to learning in the traditional way. By traditional way, we mean attending a live class, or training workshop, or information seminar, where the expert teacher or instructor teaches a group of learners on the subject matter.

The problems and issues include the following

  • Not all employees can be spared for such training at the same time. The employee has to travel away from the place of work for a full 2-3 days at the minimum.
  • Costs of travel and stay, if learners are coming from different locations to study. These costs can be pretty significant if air travel is involved.
  • Different employees may have different levels of grasping, hence even after undergoing the same course, each learner's level of understanding will be different.
  • Pressure on Instructor to complete the course in shortest possible time.
  • No scope for learners to revise the course concepts or re-take the course again and again, unless the company has a policy of regular refresher training. However, typically this is done only for essential training like mandatory safety training, fire-fighting, etc.
  • Learning is a continuous process but instructor led training makes it a one shot event.

Let us see now how this situation can be improved.

The case for e-learning & m-learning:

As can be seen from above, process technology has come a long way but people are still caught up in 18th century techniques to teach 21st century technology. How is this so? The traditional classroom based training, is a product of the industrial revolution of the 18th century. At that time, this kind of teaching was the state of the art. Now with the advent of the internet, broadband connections & excellent software, is teaching using these old methods OK?

Certainly not! 21st century training has to be imparted to learners in 21st century fashion! Not in an obsolete way.

Hence all over the world businesses, big or small, local or global are turning to e-learning & m-learning as a means of imparting effective learning.

What does one mean by e-learning & m-learning.? E-learning can be defined as using computer technology, internet, multimedia & other technology to impart learning. M-learning is similar to e-learning except that, it happens not with a computer or laptop, but with a mobile phone.

Advantages of e-learning & m-learning:

The advantages of e-learning are:

  • No need to spare all employees at the same time. The employee can choose time and place of learning.
  • It will be self paced and if need be can be run again and again till employee is confidently well versed in the subject.
  • No time constraints. Learning can be in bite sized chunks or all at once-totally as per the learner's need-rather than the instructor's comfort.
  • Large number of courses can be managed through suitable LMS (Learning Management Systems) by a very small number of training administrators. The LMS can also document and log number of courses taken, test scores, time taken, etc for each learner which can provide intelligent data for developing your employee's skills.
  • It results in measurable learning. Due to score tracking, progress tracking and time tracking, the performance of each employee undergoing the training becomes measurable. In earlier days with traditional training, this was typically not done.
  • Flexible course deployment---either through stand alone CD ROMs, Internet or a company wide Intranet. Hence no travel and stay expenses, which can be a substantial cost today.

Geography is history. Learning can be anywhere, anytime at your convenience.

An e-learning solution can be either off the shelf courses, or a custom designed course.

Off the shelf courses:

You can find several excellently designed off-the-shelf courses in several topic areas .For process industries, these include e-learning courses on Hazardous Area Instrumentation, RFID technology and Gas Monitors from Abhisam Software. To know more about these please visit http://www.abhisam.com

Custom Designed courses:

A custom designed course has to be designed keeping in mind the audience, goals of the course, time allotted to the course and testing requirements. You should ensure that a custom designed course provider can provide to you all these resources at competitive costs. Often custom designed courses tend to be very very expensive. For most standard topics you can safely assume that the standard off the shelf e-learning course is good enough.

Use the right teaching tools in the course:

Your off the shelf course provider should have produced the course not merely as a bunch of pages stuck together electronically but an integrated course consisting of text, flash based animations, graphics, photos, videos, exercises & simulations. It should also have a glossary & an assessment test. For example e-learning courses made by Abhisam Software have all of these features. Also the arrangement of the course material should have a logical progression, starting from basic concepts going to more advanced topics.

Going beyond traditional courses-Electronic Learning Manuals (Not just e-books):

One should think of going beyond just traditional courses and putting all of your company's user manuals, procedures, maintenance manuals and installation guides into e-learning modules. This is especially useful for companies who sell capital equipment and need to train their customers thoroughly. Instead of supplying a staid user manual (with perhaps a three day course thrown in for good measure) it would be a better option to convert all this knowledge into an e- learning module which can then be used teach everybody who needs to know it anytime. Say, your company makes an oil fired heater and needs to train the customers in its operation. What better way to train than do it through an e-learning course which through the right combination of text matter, graphics, animation and sound can create quite a lasting impact. This kind of audio-visual training has better retention amongst plant operators than going though a dull manual.

(Please note that we are not talking here of e-books or e-manuals, which are nothing but soft copies of the same dull manuals!)

These kind of modules can be hosted on the company's website and used to impart very effective training to even faraway customers in a cost effective manner. Does your e-learning service provider have this kind of service?

Deployment:

Ideally courses which are organization-specific should be able to be deployed immediately in a cost effective manner.

The easiest way to do this is to buy the course from a service provider who does not ask you to install any specialized or expensive software. You should be able to take the course directly by using your PC or laptop & logging in to the course provider's site via a web browser like Internet Explorer. All of Abhisam Software's online courses are hosted online by Abhisam Software & its business partners and are available to you instantly by just visiting the course pages. No special software is needed. Thus you can get trained on subjects like Hazardous Area Instrumentation, Gas Monitors or RFID almost immediately.

If you do have a Learning Management System (LMS for short) already installed in your company then your e-learning course provider must be able to give you courses that are compatible with your LMS. Most LMS these days conform to the SCORM or AICC standards and so the courses must also follow these standards. All of Abhisam Software's e-learning courses are also available in SCORM or AICC compatible formats.

Conclusion:

E-learning is a technology whose time has arrived and companies, especially those in the Process Industries now have compelling reasons to adopt it, which was not the case a few years back.

If you are not considering e-learning for your organization, then you are losing an excellent opportunity to sharpen skills, increase productivity and thus increase the general skill level of your organization, at a fraction of the cost of traditional learning.

If you are unsure about how e-learning can help your company or organization, don't hesitate. Contact us now and get a free no obligation consultation.

How to Keep Top Search Engine Results Even Though Rankings Fluctuate

By Tinu AbayomiPaul

The Question: How Can Anyone Stay on top of the Search Engines when they keep changing their systems of ranking?

The Short Answer: Stop betting on just one horse and spread your risk around.

The Long Answer:

1- Approach the Search Engines with a strategy that caters to them.

I don't just mean get lots of links and use your keywords in the right places. I'm saying that most people try to build towards gaining one major keyword position, and if they lose that spot in an update, their sales and traffic come tumbling down.

Instead of pinning your hopes to one keyword ranking, target a number of visitors, and adjust your strategy accordingly. Find the places where search engines need your listings to make their databases better and they'll be happy to rank your site.

2- Make all the different parts of your overall traffic strategy beneficial to your search engine strategy.

For example, even though I knew naming a site with the keywords you want in it is out of vogue, that doesn't mean I can't still optimize my site for that area. I keep my keywords in mind when I write articles, create press releases, start new sites, start new companies. always.

I also keep linking in mind in every single point of strategy for a new company. With corporate sites, it's not as easy to get links, or to do link trades. On the other hand, no matter what kind of site you have you can fall back on article marketing and directories.

3- Never stop building your site or your links.

Obviously this is easier if you blog. But if you don't, you can still keep adding new pages to your site. And who says you can't have an RSS feed of your updates, whether you're blogging or not?

For basic, steady link growth, I usually say to submit at least an article a week, and a press release each month. You usually get higher quality links in a faster, more semi-automated way than simply pursuing link trades.

And of course, start out your link pursuit with some of the lesser directories. I started out with a list of about 600 directories - not just for business but for ezines, podcasts, rss feeds, blogging, general web directories, etc.

And I started a specialized directory of my own at that time, with the request that those who submitted link back to me as well. Starting a useful resource is a great way to get links.

Why should you follow my advice? Because I've kept hundreds of first page rankings - not just for easy terms - for three years on Google, Yahoo and MSN simultaneously. That's not so much to brag as it is to say that experience is a good teacher.

One Way Links Are Given And Accepted With Love And Are For Ever.-Grab Them!

By Kanaga Siva

Unlike Reciprocal Links, One-Way Links also known as Inbound Links are obtained by you or in fact given to you with Love and for ever. Yes,they have come to stay. One-Way Link is a link pointing to your website from another site. You do not have to link back to that website. In other words you need not reciprocate. One-Way Links play a vital role in increasing your Link Popularity.

Link Popularity is a measure of the number of sites of quality and relevance that point to your website. The more number of such sites, the higher will your page rank be.

Search Engines consider One-Way Links superior to Reciprocal Links because the website that links to your site without getting a link back, endorses the fact that yours is a website of quality.

Webmasters are known to adopt various methods to artificially increase the Link Popularity of their websites, such as purchasing of high PR links. Search Engines have now become aware of this and hence major Search Engines appear to be devaluing sites that solely depend on reciprocal links.

Good Reciprocal Links are often obtained by begging and are in some instances not permanent due to unethical practices of some webmasters. On the other hand One-Way Links have a different story to tell.

1. If your website has good content and valuable information, other webmasters will link to your site, because they Love and appreciate the contents of your site. You thus get a permanent One-Way Link more often with the same theme as that of your website.

2. I have posted about 550 articles in my website written by other webmasters, because I Love those articles and would like my visitors too, to appreciate and benefit from these articles. Similarly several hundreds of webmasters have published my articles in their Directories, Ezines, Newsletters and Websites for the same reason.

Writing expert articles of quality, that are informative and educative, sincerely from your heart is appreciated by the audience. The result is that your articles are often sought after and published by webmasters. Thus you are given a permanent One-Way Link with Love.

3. Listing in Web Directories is another great way of securing One-Way Links. In addition to well known Directories such as Yahoo Directory (charges a fee for guaranteed listing), The Open Project Directory (DMOZ), and Joe Ant Directory, there are several other Secondary Directories that Love to list your website without requesting a link back. A list of these Directories can be obtained by going into the Search Engines. By submitting your website to the relevant category in these directories you are assured of a high quality relevant One-Way Link that will be there for ever.

Furthermore there are several high PR Directories who Love to list your website but charge a fee for listing. Get listed and you are again assured of a quality relevant One Way Link for ever.

4. If you have purchased a product and like the product, write a good testimonial about the product and send it across to the webmaster or vendor concerned with your URL in it. He would be thankful to you and would Love to publish your testimonial, thereby giving you a One-Way Link.

In addition to these methods there are additional ways in obtaining one way links by posting relevant comments in Forums, Blogs and submitting Press Releases etc.

To increase their link popularity, webmasters endeavor to acquire as many quality reciprocal links or one way links. For reasons already indicated Webmasters Love one-way links and Search Engines appear to Love them even more.

The manner in which One-Way Links are obtained can be viewed from a different perspective altogether.

Webmasters Love your website and link it to theirs. They love your articles and post it in theirs. They love your product and write a glowing testimony. Directories love your quality website and list it. You love them in return for giving you a One-Way Link for ever. On the other hand in reciprocal links exchange or link trade as some term it the whole approach revolves around begging and bargaining.

The more number of relevant one way links you obtain, the greater and faster your chances of increasing your link popularity and climbing up the Page Rank ladder. The benefits of a high page rank are numerous. So the earlier you start to capitalize on these On-Way Links that are given for ever with love, the happier you are going to be.

Increase Your Business With A Blog

By Liz Tomey Bing

When running your own business, a blog can really help to make your website successful. It can give readers information about your product and can also actually be the thing that brings new visitors to your site. It is a business tool that can help you update your site with informative content to keep readers coming back for more.

There are two main reasons that you should include content on your website. Content can help visitors develop trust in your product and your knowledge. Also, it will help to increase your site's appearance in internet search engine ranks.

First of all, having content that is relevant can help to increase the credibility of your business. It can do so by providing important information to your clients and potential clients. If your blog is full of interesting and relevant information, people naturally assume that your company is interesting and relevant to them. This improves your chance of adding these readers as future customers. Once they realize that you are providing an informative service to them, they will gain trust in your and your product, thus producing sales in the future.

Secondly, the only way to increase your site's chances of being ranked high with search engines is to include that good content. With optimized content you are able to keep your site in the top picks. Search engines will locate and rank your site based on the content provided there. If they determine that the content is good, unique, and relevant to people, your ratings will improve. Higher rankings mean potential customers can more easily search and find your company, and that, in turn, means higher profit for you!

So, you have decided that you are ready to try blogs. You are confident that you can write good, relevant articles to promote your business and product. However, you just are not sure how to get started? You need to figure out how to publish your articles and make sure search engines are aware of the content available on your site. To do this, you should employ the use of blogging software, blog directories, and article directories. Let's consider your choice of blogging software.

Blogging software can help you to manage the articles that you write. Most will provide features such as word processing, database storage, archiving, search options, and RSS newsfeed. Each of these, along with others offered, can help make using a blog more effective and time efficient for you.

In many cases, you can order customizable blog software. This means you can choose which features to use, adding or deleting various features at any time. For example, some bloggers choose to turn off the comments feature to discourage spammers from leaving unrelated comments just to leave their own link.

You can choose between two main types of blogging software. You can choose hosted or integrated, depending on your needs. Both can help you manage articles, and there are even some free options available.

Hosted blog versions are those such as Wordpress and Blogger. They are websites that host individuals' blogs for free. Any articles published on a company's blog are actually held or stored on the website that is provided by the software company. You will not use your own website as the address of your blog but instead will use the company's website with an extension that is personal to you. This option is good for those with limited funds, but it also can be less beneficial to your website since your content is not available on your site itself.

An integrated version of blogging software means that articles and software used to manage them are all set up live on your own website. Your site will increase due to the blog being hosted there and the new visitors that are attracted by that content. It also helps to increase your site's rankings with search engines and helps to make your business seem professional and credible.

When setting up a blog to use in your marketing plans, consider your options carefully. There are number of ways you can go with blogs, but be sure to use the one that is right for you. Consider your needs and take some time to research your options before making a final selection.

Work At Home Business Solutions At Your Own Pace

By Matthew Bredel

With the advent of computers and high speed Internet access, better choices are out for those looking for work at home jobs. Nowadays, companies are switching their mindsets to accommodate working the home. Affiliate marketers tout the work at home philosophy, outsourcing companies are looking to establish home-based calling centers, and work at home mothers are starting their own businesses. In this article, I will discuss four work at home business opportunities: a home based calling center, EBay, mystery shopping, and freelance writing.

For starters, advances in call routing technology have made it possible for companies to hire home based employees to handle their order and sales calls. This work at home business solution lets companies save on traditional call center costs and avoid turnover. This work at home business opportunity usually pays by the minute (a welcome change from paying idle employees at their cubicles.) This work at home business usually requires a quiet area free of distractions to accept incoming calls. The pay is better for sales jobs than order taking and grows steadily over time with commissions and incentives. Some companies currently hiring include workathomeagent.com and liveops.com.

Another work at home job is EBay's online auctions. With more than 1 million people working full time or part time as EBay sellers, it makes for an exceptional source of income. Work at home enthusiasts can sell both their used items or products in bulk and flip it for a profit, like CDs, DVDs, genuine watches, purses, and more. This work at home business solution comes with plenty of tutorials and guide books to get started, including a Dummies book for Powersellers.

Freelance writing is another work at home business solution skilled writers can do. Today, there is a booming market for content writing throughout the Internet. Buyers on Elance.com and guru.com are paying serious money to ghostwriters who will work their content. Through these sites, work at home enthusiasts can bid on projects and gain a clientele. These work at home jobs can pay anywhere from $60 for 10 articles to $1500 for e-books. Freelance writing has plenty of competition, but the more established writers are in a league by themselves in this excellent work at home business opportunity.

To conclude, freelance writing, home based calling centers, and EBay are solid sources of income as a work at home job.

3 Ways For Driving Traffic To Your Website

By David Bain

You need targeted internet traffic and sales for your online business to survive. Here are three ways through which you can increase traffic and boost sales to your website.

Your website is ready. It sits there while you wait for anyone to come to your site, check your products, and yes, hopefully, to order something! However, it has been months and you are getting really frustrated. Your products are not selling and you are losing money.

What you need is some internet traffic. Sadly, internet traffic doesn't just come without you working on the advertising and marketing aspect of your e-business. If you would just keep on waiting for any traffic, your website would end up buried by your competitor's websites.

Your ultimate goal is to generate targeted market traffic. You are aiming for gaining your target consumers' interest and drive them to your website. There are many ways that you could use to generate traffic. Below are three ways that you can employ.

Number 1: Search Engine Optimization

If people search through major search engines, type in natural keywords and your website comes up, chances are you could expect more website traffic than you could handle. This is your ultimate goal -- ranking heavily on every search engine in the internet.

However, this does not happen overnight. It takes a lot of time and effort in order to achieve this objective. Your aim is to make your presence felt and known in the internet by becoming
one of the top sites in the results page when a keyword query is made. As such, you could try filling your website with articles reflecting the relevant keywords.

Remember though that SEO takes time. It is advisable, therefore, to employ multiple methods to generate more web traffic. However, you could always try buying traffic from vendors to generate website hits. You could buy traffic with Google's and Yahoo's pay-per-click program. What you do is determine and identify your target market's possible keywords and bid for these words or phrases. This may be costly but it would generate hits. Of course, it doesn't end there. You have to keep your customer's interest with an interesting website to begin with.

Number 2: Syndicate your site

There are many websites that would allow feed burning. You would have to create Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds that would link your content and blog to other websites.

Make sure that you are providing informative and interesting information in your blog, though. RSS feeds may increase website hits but they will not generate profit or sales leads, if in truth, your website is bland and boring

Number 3: Create useful, informative and interesting article content

Again, it doesn't matter if your website is generating thousands of hits. It also doesn't matter if suddenly, your website is generating more traffic than you could handle. What is really important is that you are earning profit out of this traffic.

You need to provide your prospective customers with quality web content. The content should be responsive to their need. Write as many articles as you can or hire someone to write them for you if you want. You must provide your customers information on how to solve their problems. Keep your articles fresh, updated and relevant to your customer's needs or problems.

What You Need To Know About Ip Addresses

By John Buchanan

If you are new to the internet, often times things can seem quite overwhelming. People throw around terms like IP Addresses, Nameservers, hosting, ftp, etc.

In this article we are going to cover IP Addresses. You'll learn exactly what they are and how they apply to search engine optimization (SEO).

IP Address stands for Internet Protocol Address and is currently made up of four "octets" or numbers separated by a period. Each octet can be a number from 0 to 255

Some examples of valid IP addresses are - 1.123.150.243, 35.35.36.10, 240.216.1.80

There is also a new standard for IP addresses that is slowly being launched called IPV6 (IP version 6). IPV6 numbers look quite different from our current IP addresses.

An example of an IPv6 IP address is - 2001:0db8:85a3:08d3:1319:8a2e:0370:7334

You will notice each it is much longer with MANY more possible variations. The new IP system is designed to give us enough IP addresses so that we will not run out of unique IP addresses any time in the foreseeable future.

So why do we need IP addresses? Quite simply, an IP address is like your physical home address. It designates a specific computer that is connected to the internet. Every computer connected to the internet has an IP address. This is necessary for it to send and receive information.

When you type in a website name, for example mine, http://www.sesecrets.com that name is translated into an IP address that is then used to "find" my site. In the current set of IP addresses, going from left to right, the first "octet" is the most broad, with each successive octet getting more and more granular or specific.

To explain that a bit better.

134 - is VERY broad
134.125 - is still quite broad, but getting more specific
134.125.244 - is getting more specific and probably refers to a specific web host.
134.125.244.1 - is as specific as you can get and refers to a specific computer

You will often hear different classes such as class A, class B, and class C talked about when dealing with IP addresses. Below I've given some examples of what people are referring to when talking about classes.

Class A
134.XXX.XXX.XXX
240.XXX.XXX.XXX
22.XXX.XXX.XXX

Class B
134.254.XXX.XXX
36.36.XXX.XXX
36.37.XXX.XXX

Class C
254.210.135.XXX
36.36.1.XXX
36.36.2.XXX

It's often easiest to think of IP addresses as physical addresses, with the Class A octet being similar to country, Class B, being a city in that country, Class C being a street in that city, and the last octet being a specific house on that street.

So, by looking above you should be able to see that when some talks about a Class A IP address they are referring to the first "octet" and when they say that two IP addresses are on different Class A subnets, it simply means the first set of numbers are different.

So for example

255.123.124.255
34.123.124.255

Are on different Class A's. While the rest of the IP addresses are the same, because they are on different Class As, they are VERY far apart (remember, Class A is the most broad).

The same goes for Class B. Class B refers to the second octet of numbers. When someone says that two IP addresses are on different Class B's it simply means that the the second octet's of each IP is different. The IPs may be on the same Class A or it may be different, but the second Octet of numbers is different. To better explain...look below.

255.123.124.255
255.34.124.255
34.34.124.255

In the above example, the first two IP addresses are on the same Class A, but different Class B's. The third IP address, has the same Class B number (34), but because the first Octet is different, it is also on a different Class B ( as with physical addresses, two countries can have the same city names, but they are still different cities).

For class C we are looking at the third octet.

255.123.124.255
255.123.34.255
34.42.124.255

Again, the first two above are on different Class C's, while the third has the same class C number as the first, but it's first and second octets are different, so it's also on a different Class C.

I hope the above makes since to you. I've tried to give plenty of examples to make it clear no matter what your tech background is.

The good news is, that you hardly ever have to mess with IP addresses. When you get a web hosting account for your domain name, your host will assign your domain name an IP address. You often don't even HAVE to know it. Generally your host will set all this up for you without you having to understand any of it. From that point on, when someone types in your domain name, that name will then be converted to your assigned IP address and voila...your visitor winds up at your site.

I'll cover some of the other basics such as web hosting accounts, nameservers, etc. in later articles.

I'll see you at the top!

SEO - How Pay Per Click Gives You Control

By Chris Angus

Even if you are running a small business you can take advantage of a pay per click program. Pay per click search engine advertising offers any type of business a cheap form of promotion. The beauty is that a pay per click ad campaign is that it can also help bring buying customer not just surfers

A big perk to using Another benefit of using pay per click search engines to advertise your product is that you are in control of how much you want to spend on an advertising campaign. This is not necessarily true of other forms of advertising. You are in control of how much money you want to deposit into your pay per click advertising account and you can also determine where and on what keyword it is actually spent. You also determine how and when the ads were run and just how much you are willing to pay each time an interested surfer clicks on your ad. This is much cheaper than letting an agency do this for you. It also places all accountability for your mistakes into one lap - yours!

If you want to make money on the Internet, then you should be managing a pay per click advertising campaign (or 'sponsored listing' as they are sometimes called) on at least one of the most popular search engines.

Another fantastic benefit to using pay-per-click search engines that cannot be overlooked as a search engine optimization tactic is that you have the ability to deliver your product information only to those who are interested. Thanks to the keyword search system you can automate your ad so that it is targeted to those who are already likely prospects. In essence the search engine itself is creating leads and doing market research for you. Yet another big perk is that this naturally raises your rankings in the search engine pages as well because the search engines love ads and links that are focused!
