How To Avoid Scams And Land A Legitimate Home Business Opportunity

By Michael Guyton

Finding a legitimate home business opportunity is not as easy as it may seem. There are many opportunities out there, but many of those are nothing but a scam. It is very important for
a person to realize that not ever business opportunity is worth their time. Recognizing home business opportunity scams is something any person must learn to do if they are truly wanting to find a legitimate home business opportunity.

As with anything in life if something seems too good to be true then it probably is when it comes to the home business world. There are so many opportunities out there that promise six figure incomes for little or no work. When first looking at a home business opportunity it is important to consider the promises and see if they are reasonable. If a business opportunity can really guarantee a six figure income with little or no work then wouldn't everyone be doing it?

There are many signs of a home business opportunity scam. The first and one of the most important is that a legitimate home business opportunity will not require a person to pay anything up front. Now this can be confusing because in some cases there may be money exchanged up front and that is fine, but here are the rules:

- Paying for a start up kit or start up inventory is okay and not a sign of a scam.
- Paying for paperwork processing or for more information is not okay and is a good indicator of a scam. This is an important thing to remember because many people have lost large amounts of money through home business scams.

Another caution flag is when the business is not explained or they want you to contact someone for information. A legitimate business should at least explain the basics of the business, including what they sell, the company's background and contact information. If a business appears to be hiding something then it is likely a scam. It is common for businesses to want to
discuss the actual pay or profit, but that is the only thing that should not be clear from the initial contact with the company.

One last warning about scams - there are some scams that could land a person in legal trouble. A person should never give out their banking information and never agree to ship or receive
packages. Most of these opportunities are initiated by someone saying they are form a foreign country and contact is usually made through email.

Legitimate home business opportunities are out there. Unfortunately, home business scams are often much easier to find. Being cautious and getting all the facts before pursuing a business opportunity is the best way to avoid a scam and land a true legitimate home business opportunity.
