ABOUT US


Search Engine College (SEC) is an online training institution offering instructor-led short courses and downloadable self-study courses in Search Engine Optimization and other Search Engine Marketing subjects.

The courses are offered entirely online, to be taken at a student's own pace, in a time-frame that suits them. You have the choice of taking a tutor-led Certification course, where a tutor is assigned to track your progress, grade your assignments, give you feedback and award formal certification should you qualify; or a self-study course, where all assignments and  activities are to be self-graded and no certification is awarded.

SEC is owned by respected search engine marketing firm Jordan Consulting Group (formerly known as Web Rank) and managed by a team of dedicated staff, led by search engine optimization industry expert Kalena Jordan.

The Concept

The concept of SEC was originally created by Kalena's husband, Jerry (now SEC's Director of IT and Course Development), who noticed how often Kalena was receiving and answering the same questions from confused webmasters about how to make their sites search engine friendly.

"My husband suggested that I make my replies available to everyone by creating an online course for newbies about search engine marketing", says Kalena. "He introduced me to the excellent Moodle open source course management software as a way of delivering the material".

"Over the years, I was also asked regularly if I knew of any online institutions that offered courses in search engine optimization. I didn't, so I got together with some industry colleagues and Search Engine College was born", she says.

"Now anyone with a computer and an Internet connection can go and learn this stuff for themselves, no matter where they are in the world.

Kalena teaches the SEO Starter course (SEO 101), the SEO Advanced course (SEO 201), the PPC Starter course (PPC 101) and supervises all other online classes.

All online college courses are run in conjunction with experienced tutors who are well-respected in the industry and who specialize in various aspects of search engine marketing.
