Many of these company names are focused on rankings; are these names as relevant today as they were when the companies were first set up? Consider that SEO, strictly speaking, is not about rankings alone; it is about traffic and the many sources that an SEO can drive traffic to a website. I would be tempted to say that many of these companies were set up in a time when rankings were the main, and in some cases, the only focus.

I'm not taking away the fact that some of these company names are very clever indeed but are they really as relevant as they were say, 5 years ago?

We're thrilled to be on the list, at #10. It's nice to be noticed and not confused with Yellow Pages etc.

Nowadays, search is even more relevant but as Ben mentioned, we provide a range of online marketing services, which are not search related, like online ads, email marketing etc.

I have a suggestion for you Kalena; a Google acronym they've been using lately: MOR - Moment of Relevance.

Thanks for your comments everyone. Yes, quite a few are rankings driven, but these were probably registered more than 6 or 7 years ago when it was ALL about rankings. I know Jill's HighRankings.com was. I own a similar one from the same time frame: highsearchengineranking.com. In fact, I recall being miffed that Jill had beat me to her domain name!

Hehe thanks for the plug Kal.
